Hi friends! This weekend I decided to try on (almost) ALL of my dresses and curate my wardrobe so that it was a little less overwhelming to look at. After stumbling across Inspired by Nikki's method for curating her wardrobe every month, I decided to try it for myself - but as you'll see I ended up with a slightly different result!

Body neutrality helped me appreciate my body (or just exist in it, like you said). I have always had a belly and people think I'm pregnant. When I correct them they apologize and then they assume I don't like my body. Little do they know I'm just here for life's journey! My belly and I are in it together. Personally I think my belly is pretty cute :)
Lol I used to make it a fun joke to answer “nah I’m just fat” because to ME fat isn’t a bad word, but oh boy do people react 😂 it kind of makes them realize that’s not a question you ask a stranger while I just get to laugh about it and then reassure them it’s all fine 😂

Been dressing by colour of the month for years; Jan black and white, Feb blue, March silver & grey, April Green, May lavender, June Pink, July sky blue, August deep green or multi, September orange, October brown, Nov Purple, Dec red and green. Only one item needs to be the colour so jeans fit all year and sometimes it is just earrings! Advantage is that as a visual learner and scatterbrain it helps organise and makes decisions. As years go by it gets easier as you replace clothes with the right season weight in the relevant colour but it means all my clothes get worn too! Also it's my rule and I can break it if I want too ;)

This red/ maroon floral dress with the flowy arms and the more body-con fit, holy crap! Thank you so much for saying the things that you said. I never felt beautiful or worthy since I gained so much weight over the years. I've always wanted to always wear pretty dresses & feel feminine but never felt like I could be, no matter how many times my husband said that I'm beautiful to him. My ex-husband put me down & we haven't been together in 25yrs but his words still haunt me. I'm trying to see myself the way Jesus & my husband does but it is hard at times. I cried when you said that we are beautiful now. I loved all your dresses & I also watch Inspired by Nikki as well 😊❤

I love and appreciate the positive body image talk. I am a plus size girl that didn't use to be and over the past several years I have gotten very fed up with the idea that if you are over a certain size you should lose weight. I have learned how to embrace my body (mostly, still struggle some days but that's life) and appreciate where I am. When I was thinner I was never satisfied with my body. Learning to be happy with myself at any size has changed my world.
I feel ya. I have always been on the bigger side. I’ve pretty much been the same size in my late twenties and thirties. Then stress decided to make a change in my late thirties where I gained weight. I decided to make a changed. I then had cancer which put a stop to my journey. After I turned 40 life changed with the pandemic and my body changed with stress. Just recently I came to the conclusion that my body image is perfect right where it’s at now. I felt down for a whole year because I couldn’t wear what I liked. Now I’m embracing where I’m at.
My advise would be to find a good tailor, I have a Turkish gentleman who for a few pounds makes anything fit beautifully.
I’m not through the whole video yet, but keep saying out loud to myself “she looks so good in everything she puts on!” I haven’t figured out my sizing for vintage dresses and which ones to look for on eBay or vintage places. I hope to find ONE that looks as cute on me as these all do on you!
Also, yes to the metal zipper scariness!! I have, in fact zipped my hip skin into one and it sucked! 😆

I also use bins! I only keep what I’m actually wearing in my closet. I pick from my bins a combo of what fits my current size and the current weather… as well as my current vibe 😎
It’s really nice to go shopping in my bins when it’s time for a new vibe. It creates so many opportunities to walk down memory lane!
Navy is my go to neutral. It looks great with red, pastel blue, yellow, pastel pink, mauve, gray, white, spring green, forest green and it flatters my skin tone. I wear it year round.
What you said around the 15:00 minute mark, was not only what I needed to hear but so true!! I I have given birth to 4 children and have struggled with my body/weight for as long as I can remember and now I am struggling with weight issues due to an underactive thyroid. Love that you are true to yourself and value what's most important. Thank you for reminding me! ❤

My aunt sewed her own dresses. They were a 50’s or early 60’s style. She made one for me which is still in my closet! ❤️It is a green sleeveless floral with a belt. I’m so thankful for it. I wish I had that talent. There is still hope for the future. Your dresses look so beautiful on you.

Ok, let’s talk about how great your channel is for a minute…this was the first channel where I felt like my house is not necessarily out of the norm. The first video of yours that I saw was a cleaning one and it looked like my house. Previously I had felt like there must be something wrong with me and no one’s house looked like mine. Maybe needing some paint touched up, dust, lots of things I’ve collected and love.
Now you just said another thing that makes me feel seen (as they say). It seems everyone else says you shouldn’t hang onto things if they no longer fit, but you just pointed out that you can hang onto things you love, knowing that your body changes. I have done that and fit back into things after years and love them! Thank you for putting that out into the universe for others to hear. 🙌🏾✨

My house also has the lived in look. And right now it looks like a storm happened in here with stuff everywhere! And it’s just me and my doggie, no kids to blame the mess on. 😅 However, I just spent over an hour working on my bedroom. Tomorrow I hope to clean the kitchen. Wish I still had energy like back in my 40’s. Being a senior is a challenge for some of us that need repairs and replacement parts. 🤷♀️

Wow, you really do have a lot of beautiful dresses! Its actually a myth that women had just a few dresses, ive read in many places women rarely had many clothes. But both my Nans, (who were not rich) for who the 40's and 50's were their young women/hoousewife "golden years", , when they passed away, they hhad rows of wardrobes of day and church dresses. And phootos of my nan in 1969, when she was 45, she had the wholle kit on. Outside the church shes dresed very well, with a hat, gloves, sensible heels and matching handbag. I had only known her as the "farmers wife" workday look. Far taller and vary plus size, she was still so elegant, and you are so ellegant in all of that. Beautiful!
Thank you for giving me the push I needed to buy more dresses I feel good in. I’m a mother of 5, I have a belly and I’m visually impaired and have ADHD. I LOVE vintage dresses and do have a couple, but was always so worried that I looked silly or that those styles of dresses weren’t for women like me. Seeing how much joy you get from your clothes and actually hearing you say, “I have a lot of kids and I have a belly” actually brought tears to my eyes because I can finally give myself permission to enjoy my wardrobe and wear what I love.
I really needed to hear the things you said about your body. I've struggled with my body image, eating, exercise, and self-esteem surrounding my body my whole life, so hearing you say the way you treat your body and how you view your body really positively impacted me. So, thank you so much for that. Also, you look absolutely in everything dress! I've never been into dresses for myself, but seeing your dresses is actually inspiring me to consider trying on vintage style dresses.🥰

These dresses are truly beautiful and stylish on Kristina. How lovely those fashions were back then ! I own similar ones too, and would be happy to see girls and women in such styles on the streets, in stores and anywhere else, where other people present ( as opposed to ugly shorts and pajama pants with worn out t-shirts ). Looking at Kristina is a gift for everyone with an artistic eye.

For some people that is to be minimalist and have lots of sleek clean spaces around them, with neutral soothing colors and not a speck of clutter. And for others, it's being surrounded by the things you love peeking or bursting out of every nook and cranny, full of fun and color. And they are both ok and beautiful. This was so fun :) I love watching people play dress up :) It’s like hanging out with friends. Also, I love the family interruptions. My toddler likes to wear my 1940s repro shoes while I get ready normally. It keeps her entertained :)

Cool whites vs warm whites and creams. That seems to be the spring vs summer split.
I admittedly default to black, dark blue, and dark jewel tones year round, but I can see the appeal of colors for the season 🤔

I love your positive talk! I don’t think we should even be commenting on peoples bodies because so many other things are so much more important.
Anyway, this video gave me the go ahead and pep talk I needed to just buy the thrift dresses that I see that I love no matter what my teenage kids think or if they side eye me. If I love them I’m buying them from now on. I know I should have just done that, but I want you to know you helped me with this video to just be myself. So thank you!!! And God bless you!!!!

I decluttered sooooo many of my colorful pretty dresses.. 😕.. i miss them but also I have a micro sized closet and i was dealing w decision fatigue.. so its more manageable for me now especially as i have noticed i temd to outfit repeat quite a lot.. im almost doing uniform dressing.. boring but functional. Love your clothing.. living vicariously through you 😊

Wow the floral long sleeve 80’s dress screams a dress I had in late elementary early middle school. I don’t remember exactly when I had that dress.
I loved watching this video. I still haven’t decided which decade I fit into. I do like the silhouette of the 40’s. I like the sleeves of 40’s.
For me princess style dresses have always looked good on me. One of my favorite dress pattern is a pull over dress from the Y2K era. A few weeks ago I went home and went through all my patterns as well as my mom’s patterns. I was able to find some of my favorites that I needed bigger sizes.
