You can tell Tilian wanted this so bad by the smile he had on his face after the ending applause. Any band is lucky to have him do vocals, not only because of his talent, but also because of his sincerity and his dedication and passion.
Tilian has a soft and very high vocal range, while Jonny has more power and vibrato to his that I'm pretty sure everyone would kill for. Tilian did great for his first night, you've got to give the guy some credit. I mean sure it's hard to hit Jonny's high singing notes but Tilain did his best and nailed most of them in his own way while still giving the soul and R&B style to it.
It has already been more than a decade, but I still consider the "Tailored sheets" opening of this song to be the most crucial part of being Emarosa's frontman. Tilian more or less has the power and the range even though he can't do it quite like Jonny. Bradley, on the other hand, could nail Jonny Craig's tone, but he can't pull off Jonny's range.
Tilian is fantastic, just can't get that same tone as Craig on the iconic "tailored sheets" line. It wasn't awful, by any means. He did great with the rest of the song.
The fact people are hating on his timing is a bit ridiculous. This isn't even Tilian's band. The fact he can even remember the lyrics on such sort notice is something worth mentioning.
Anthony Green would be sick too. But Tilian distorts his voice in a similar way to JC and is a better singer overall imo. Anthony Green is awesome too but his technique isn't as good.
coldjeanz He said in an interview that he did less rasp and grit in Acceptance Speech because Jon pretty much had it covered. He brought some of it back in Instant Gratification though. Maybe he'll go all out in DGD8?
I can't see how this guy is any more distinctive than Jonny Craig. Craig's got an amazing soulful voice, like a rock version of Michael Jackson in that he can dial in the grit and play around the notes so easily, with or without vibrato. IMO the best rock singer since Chris Cornell. Pearson can hit the notes, but he sounds like Craig Owens, Anthony Green, other good high pitched rock singers, but doesn't have that extra something that sets himself apart from his peers.
Tilian didn't have a long time to practice before doing this show. If I recall, it was just a random spur of the moment thing. Regardless, he is a much better vocalist than Jonny. He hits every SINGLE note that Jonny does. He has a much wider vocal range than Jonny. For people saying that he can't hit the notes Jonny does, Tilian hits them dead on. The only difference is their tone. Of course they will have different tones. Tilian is one of the best vocalists out there.
ParabolH Yeah jonny has so much soul into his singing. He also projects more than tillian. The only reason tillian hits those notes is because he has a high pitched voice. Every song that tillian has covered that jonny sung is never the same. He cant come close to jonny’s greatness!
@THESWP2008 I think this video actually proves that he doesnt have many limitations he completely nailed this song and its not even in his normal vocal range
Wow, Haters everywhere~ At least Tilian has Jonny range, he may not have the vibratto that Craig does, but, he can do the job better than most of you saying he can't. He may have said tailored 4 times where he shouldn't, but the fact that it's been pointed out shows how much we like to see people fail. Kudos to thee, Tilian.
Let's not forget a few things. Firstly, a lot of Emarosa's songs will have been centred around Jonny's voice. Second, This is live. Jonny would do the better job, but let's not compare it to the recording on the album. Finally, the guy's doing this on short notice. He won't know the songs very well and has to learn all of them, so he can't spend enough time perfect any of them. I respect him, and think he did as good a job as anyone else could've done in his position. Still should've been me.
@thescarletsilence I wholeheartedly agree with you on all fronts. But reading your comment brings up a question: Why was Emarosa + Tilian never an option for a long-term solution? This video shows that both parties work well and they genuinely sound good together. This was always considered a temporary collaboration, just never understood why permanence was never an option. Just a thought.
jonny and tilian have different voices dont compare the 2. they both have a unique sound and they both do there thing tilian was just tryna help the band, seriously people stop talkin shit.
I hope Tillian takes Jonny's place permanently in Emarosa. The dude needs a new project, and they obviously need a good vocalist that hold his shit together.
For what amounts to a first run through, this really ain't half bad. And in fairness, the live intro is way longer than anybody would expect listening to the album. Nice job.
@AkatsukiPheonix In your opinion! I happen to think Tillian is incredible and the honesty and passion he portrays in his singing is more real to me than Jonny's voice (if that makes any sense). I want to let you know that as a SINGER, I have the UTMOST respect for Jonny, I just happen to like Tillian more, and you like Jonny. Neither of us are wrong, and it is stupid to argue or debate about who is better. At the end of the day, it is a matter of opinion.
jonny craig has an overall wider vocal range, but tilian go higher and has a way purer voice. But what makes jonny so good is the dirt in his voice, and the pitch wobbling.. They're both really good vocalists.
tilian did a badass job... He didnt know when to startt.... i think jonas flagged him when to start.... thats a true brother there.... i enjoy his more aggressive sound... badass job....
@lukedemers Plenty, but it doesn't mean I know the lyrics to every song in their set. Not to mention I would probably have trouble remembering them under the stress of filling in for such a popular vocalist.
Tilian is so great! Not a big fan of Emarosa but I love Tides of Man... Also, in what world is Emarosa better than DGD in any way? Please someone tell me
@RianHeartattack not necessarily i mean they went from hardcore screamo to more light rocky post hardcore , maybe they will return to there roots as corsets are cages and get Chris Roetter back :)
I feel like I missed a moment in history by missing Tilian singing this song.
I could honestly say that I would have been quite happy if Tillian would have joined Emarosa. He is however, fucking great in DGD.
I think dgd was the best band for him, but saosin would have been my second choice with emarosa third tbh
You can tell Tilian wanted this so bad by the smile he had on his face after the ending applause. Any band is lucky to have him do vocals, not only because of his talent, but also because of his sincerity and his dedication and passion.
This comment has aged very well
@@FreakinFuzz no kidding, glad he didnt stay with emarosa or i wouldnt have listened, their direction with brad is terrible IMO
@@DrewIsARealBoy i fuckin LOVE new Emarosa
Y’all been binging DGD related content in quarantine too?

TAILORED!!!

LOLOLOLOLOL HIS TIMING AT THE BEGINNING XD
Great singer though, should defo stay with Emarosa! :)
i love how jonny just runs around leaving his mark on bands and then leaving
"leaving" LOL that mf'er has been kicked out of every band he's ever been in. Multiple times, in some cases
ridiculously hard song to cover, props to tilian
'Scuse me Tilian, why you so amazing?
Just got the goosebumps.... so good !
Tilian is still amazing, much props for even attempting.
He's incredible, honestly....
But no one can own on this song, like jonny...
i love both singers
Fair play. I thought he would struggle, but He owned it. Props.
Tilian is awesome
Love it. Love Tilian. Love Emarosa. Jonny is neat. 👌🏻🖤
tides of man and emarosa have toured together more than once, pretty sure tilian loved their album as well.
he sounds so much better here than in DGD
Yo, this is honestly historic.
YES IT IS AMEN
Tilian is fantastic, just can't get that same tone as Craig on the iconic "tailored sheets" line. It wasn't awful, by any means. He did great with the rest of the song.
He sounds fantastic. Good fill-in for sure.
wow i had no idea this happened
u guys saying that tillian screwed up?? i thought he was just teasing the crowd!!
He was lol he never messed up.
I'm going to that show with my boyfriend! I'm totally pumped!
The fact people are hating on his timing is a bit ridiculous. This isn't even Tilian's band. The fact he can even remember the lyrics on such sort notice is something worth mentioning.
such a good vocalist :)
Tilian is probably the best JC replacement you can find.
Anthony green, would probably be your best bet in finding a fit for the jc voice
I admit I wasn't really thinking when I said that.
I admit I wasn't really thinking when I said that.
Anthony Green would be sick too. But Tilian distorts his voice in a similar way to JC and is a better singer overall imo. Anthony Green is awesome too but his technique isn't as good.
Anthony green is terrible and peaked in 06
nailed it
kinda cool how he messes the beginning^^
just shows how much he wants to start lawl :P
annoys me that he ditched the gritty/raspy sound when he joined DGD. he's one of the few singers who could come close to Jonny in that regard
coldjeanz He said in an interview that he did less rasp and grit in Acceptance Speech because Jon pretty much had it covered. He brought some of it back in Instant Gratification though. Maybe he'll go all out in DGD8?
You got your wish on mothership man
there is totally plenty of rasp in acceptance speech it's just the way it's mixed, how people don't notice is a mystery to me.
Thumbs Up for Tilian!

Really not bad, definitely not the same..
Tilian was a great fill in choice. (:
Dang. O.O He's pretty good with these guys.
Gosh this band sounds SO SO SO much better with Tillian! Let's hope he is a permanent replacement in Emarosa. This band will be great again!
he wasn't a replacement in emarosa, just a touring vocalist. but i know what you mean, jonny-on-the-spot
Tilian didn't have a long time to practice before doing this show. If I recall, it was just a random spur of the moment thing. Regardless, he is a much better vocalist than Jonny. G🎧R🎶E💘A🎧🎶💘T
@JarickL Tilian's got an amazing voice... Check out Tides Of Man, his former band... He has a great vocal range and a truly unique sound.
pretty cool, i like tilian in tides of man
@nitesamba well he joined tides of man in 2007 so that makes him at least 4 years old ;)
@fallingfromjupiter No, he is not in Saosin. They have already said he didn't make the "cut". I heard Emarosa is thinking of keeping him!
Jonny's the best.
Tilian is good, no doubt... but I'm waiting for him to ascend to greatness. When paired w/ the great John Mess, it will be hard for him to disappoint.
Go back to Tides of Man please. I miss you.
I kinda like the mess up 4 times in the beginning, he plays it off well as well.
Tilian is sick. No matter what people say. Tilian is a fucking MURDERER on vocals. He easily covers Jonny's range. Just in a different octave.
@ParabolH demo from saosin or emarosa? cuz im waiting to hear something from saosin :o
Considering all of Emarosa's songs were built around Jonny's voice, Tilian's doing a pretty fucking amazing job.

Gotta give it up for Tilian! He must of been very nervous to pull of jonnys songs, but i think he did a really good job! Big ups!
jonny and tilian have different voices dont compare the 2. they both have a unique sound and they both do there thing tilian was just tryna help the band, seriously people stop talkin shit.
@cobhatebreeder ur not the only one that man had some great pieces of work
They should take him! He's be a worthy replacement for sure. And he should pick up a guitar and add awesome stuff :-)
@tomforster2010 lol was that a joke, I found it fucking hilarious
even though he fucked up at first, i deadass though that was part of the show, u know to get people hype for the song! Tillian is a good ass singer!
Nice job.
@pemguinman He's rumored to be with Saosin. Look up " Saosin - Change" not changing. It's fantastic in my opinion.
He sounds out of place on their second albums songs, but He kills it with relativity.
I played a show with Tilian once and asked him what was the deal about that and he said he only had like 2 or 3 days of practice with the band.
@AkatsukiPheonix In your opinion! I happen to think Tillian is incredible and the honesty and passion he portrays in his singing is more real to me than Jonny's voice (if that makes any sense). @s0nemore wrong. they're singing the same pretty much. their vocals styles are originally very similar regardless.
jonny craig has an overall wider vocal range, but tilian go higher and has a way purer voice. But what makes jonny so good is the dirt in his voice, and the pitch wobbling.. They're both really good vocalists.
Emarosa isn't Jonny's first band, but we get your point.
TAILORED!
Tilian needs to be with Tides of Man...

I hope tillian jones emarosa, that could give them a sweet new sound.
He'll get better with time! I'm trying to go see him with my girlfriend in november. He'll be in chicago with DGD!
any one know what tilians doin now?
@fallingfromjupiter cool. Well, we will see what happens!
well the guitarist had to tap his shoulder to tell him when to start.
shit that always happens to me, i start to sing early hhahahahahahah,
He sounds much better on this one than "A Toast to the Future Kids"
@lukedemers
Plenty, but it doesn't mean I know the lyrics to every song in their set. Not to mention I would probably have trouble remembering them under the stress of filling in for such a popular vocalist.
So when Jonny Craig leaves Slaves is Tilian going to leave DGD for Slaves? Lol
Here because Jonny just left slaves
Same hahahaha
Haha I’m in the comments baby same notion toooooooo
@@andrewdevall4438 There's no way that was two years ago already lmao

@cobhatebreeder well its not only his work. Dgd has will swan and matt mingus. emarosa is only known for johnny. Dgd isnt known for just johnny
i wonder how jonny feels being replaced by tilian in both jonny's bands first emarosa, and now dance gavin dance. lol.
Jesus, Tilian fucking *KILLED* it. I love Tilian now, but I missed his style here so much.
If Jonny had to leave Emarosa, and Tilian replaced him, I wouldn't be all that sad about it LOL.
@s0nemore JUST IN A DIFFERENT OCTAVE. - lol at you mate. ^^
you sure? then why do they hang out? they're tweeting eachother right now if you wanna check it out.
I know Tillian is good but no one is better than Jonny
wow he's good. i wouldn't be disappointed if they added him. although his voice is a little higher
@spideyjoe1 He's doing it man. When you're doing it, and are obviously doing better, speak up.
@jdubYDG with all due respect I don't think he's talking about the lyrics
This guy is great! i bet he came in too early and tried to cover it up with "fooled you".
@fallingfromjupiter You sure about that?!?! I have heard from some friends of the dudes in DGD that Jonny is sticking with them full time now.
It wasn't a "hey we're friends tweet", like talking about hanging out tweet.
They're friends. Dealwithit.
@jdubYDG aha yes, but you know Jonny Craig sang them like their were
his. He made them amazing, you know that [;
