Too bad the singing part of the song was terrible. Personally Fairytale at most was my 3rd favorite of 2009.

I cyclically go back to the video of the performance every bunch of months because it's just so good

@@piotrek8129 they are now but back when Rybak won they weren’t recorded and were done live on stage.

By the way, tat song "We are the winners of eurovision" that ranked 6th was the highest place that Lithuania has ever gotten 🤣 I wouldn't say that "they only got 6th"

My closet is full of shirts for music groups with names like Moonsorrow, Marduk, Judas Priest, Conan, Alice Cooper, Kanonenfieber and more. Hard rock and metal are genres that generally don't get much attention from Mainstream media so I found it surreal that Eurovision, a music event that 10 out of 9 times pick stagnant pop music as the winner, chose a shock rock band as the winner in 2008 and Måneskin in 2020. It's like if America had a similar competition for the states and Virginia won with Gwar.

Europe is more laid back when it comes to extreme music compared to North America. That's why more metal bands are popular in Europe compared to North America since North America prefers pop and rap artists. Don't get me wrong though, I know there are people in North America that prefer metal over pop and rap (like me), but it's not a lot of people compared to Europe.

The gorilla is a symbol of our history and our origin as a species, which is one of the song's themes. It's also referenced in the lyrics.
Si, de hecho el cantante dice "la scimmia nuda balla" que significa, el mono desnudo baila, en referencia a una obra científica de Desmond Morris de 1967 sobre el ser humano y su comportamiento animal. La canción es bastante filosófica y antropológica.😊

Måneskin, Alex Rybak,ABBA (Maybe Celine Dion and France Galle) is the largest highlight of ESC history…IMO
In Occidentali's Karma - one of the lines in the chorus is "la scimma nuda balla," which means "the naked ape dances." His song is all about how Westerners live their lives and how at the end of the day we're all humans (aka naked apes). It's super symbolic!! I love that song so much haha

Happy to see part 2! Part 1 is my favourite Eurovision compilation, stll makes me laugh
1:09 my understanding of how it was made, strechy fabric as screen(i guess tilted backwards a bit) with stairs and platform behind, projector making the image on the screen( notice sharp shaddows from arm, and a glow around his body to make his position a bit forgiving), the tilt is most likely done in live edit, tilting one layer over the other, trimming in some way(im not qite sure how, it looks kinda like the alpha channel around the edges but no transparancy in the centre) (note how the reflection on the floor mowes wit the tilt and the reflction disapear at the right. also note gradient around the top)
The tilt is literally just the camera tilting with some greenscreen type masking. Also yes, it's a flexible screen. In some of the videos form rehearsals you can see it from another perspective.
"Leto, Leto, Svet" means "Summer, Summer, (Shine-)light"
Even more reason to go out and shout it now 😂
It almost sounds like "lätt å svett" in swedish that means easy and sweaty😅
Fun fact about Leto Svet: the people singing it aren't singers by profession. In fact, most of them are rather famous comedians. As you might infer, that song wasn't a serious entry into the (Estonian) contest.
I don't think anyone expected it to win the contest and thus make it into the actual Eurovision but it happened XD

Pretty quick explanation for the gorilla one. Basically part of the chorus of the song literally says "The naked monkey dance". I don't listen to “Occidentali's karma” since like... 2019 (and I was pretty naive back then), so I can't remember clearly, but it should be a metaphor to the humanity, its raise and fall (?)

This is something called drag, maybe you haven't heard of it before so I'll explain in simple terms. Thomas Neuwirth is the performers actual name, he is a man. Conchita Wurst is his drag persona, it's like playing a role. Conchita is a woman so you use she to talk about her, doesn't mean he is changing gender (not that there would be anything wrong with that)

The image is somehow projected onto fabric and he pushes the fabric away from him to be able to step up on ledges hidden behind the fabric. Not sure how he fits on that small surface, though.
