    I remember doing that hike as a teen. Thinking back now, I can recall it is QUITE dangerous. I can't believe none of us died.

      Yep! I fell in a few times while scrambling in a few areas. Then the hike out is straight up. Good times! Hope that they reopen this soon! Thanks for watching and for the support!

    Love this trail! Unfortunately back in 2015 I got caught in the bottom of the gorge in a heavy downpour and me and a friend in our group slipped and fell into the river. We had to swim out onto a rock because we were pretty close to a waterfall and we had to call search and rescue. Definitely make sure there is a 0% chance of rain before you go!

      This trail is no joke! I went during a perfect day with no rain and still fell in the river. Sorry to hear that search and rescue had to be called to get you out of the gorge. Great advice for anyone first exploring this area. Thanks for watching and the comment! Cheers!

    Cool trail! I did it a week ago with a friend of mine and his son. It was a lot of fun but I completely agree with your assessment of the last part of the trail. It was definitely the most difficult hiking portion I’ve ever completed in GA as well as in my lifetime.

      This is one of the best hikes I have ever done. Extremely rugged in some areas and you will have to scramble in a few places. I actually fell into the water and swam down to get to an easier spot to hike. The only issue 100 permits per day and since covid-19 they have not been providing access. I would call ahead to see if this has changed and get there as early as possible. Hope you get a chance to explore this area for yourself. Thanks for watching and your support!

    Amazing trail! This one is going right to the top of my Georgia list. Oh no, sorry about your camera! I love a challenging trail as long as it is not too dangerous. Thanks for the tips and info on the trail!

      TerryX2Explore only 100 permits issued per day so you need to arrive early. Not sure if they have reopened the floor yet so you may want to call ahead. Cheers and thanks for watching!

      Just make sure you get there super early. Only 100 passes per day and a lot of people have been anxious to go since they reopened this. This is an intense hike so be prepared. Have fun!!

    Should have watched this before going in 😂. We were not ready for that. After sliding rock, we doubled back and went back up the steps.. bring a bag, lots of water, water shoes, and snacks.. maybe a dry bag too. Good one

    I did this yesterday!! So treacherous! I had no idea. I wore chacos but think now I should have worn my hiking boots for the grip. But then again yes as you say you have no choice but to get wet at some point. Great video.

    • @MetroOnTheMove
      @MetroOnTheMove  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It’s amazing how difficult this small stretch is. You feel like you are lost there for a bit and then it opens up to pure awesome. That hike out is something else too!

    • @dslovesau
      @dslovesau Před 11 měsíci

      @@MetroOnTheMove absolutely! I thought the same. I seriously was concerned at one point that I was going completely the wrong way bc it is just boulder after boulder with no real direction. The hike out was really tough with those chacos bc of the steep smooth inclines you have to get up. I kept sliding back to the bottom haha.

    Wow crazy hike. Would it be easier and shorter to go down the way you came up and vice versa?

    • @MetroOnTheMove
      @MetroOnTheMove  Před 3 lety +1

      Good question. It was very difficult to get to the sliding rock due to scrambling and such. It was easier to go straight up on the trail the way I went versus trying to double back. Thank you for watching and the support! Cheers

    Do they allow Drones on this trail?

    How do you get the permit?

    • @MetroOnTheMove
      @MetroOnTheMove  Před 3 lety

      They only issue 100 per day and you have to be present that day to get one. In short, you show up and ask for a permit and if there is one available, you have to take a short class on safety. Unfortunately, I called about a month ago and this area is still closed due to COVID. May be worth calling the main office to check the status.
