Again the magic Madonna summer of 1987.
I was just a nine year old boy back but Madonna was omni-present on TV, Radio, The News, her tour, her sales, the charts, with La isla bonita, Who's that girl plus her entire True Blue hits.
In '87 she became as big as Michael Jackson and kept the title Queen of Pop to this day.
Who's That Girl is a true under-rated classic. Madonna herself didn't include it on her 1sy Greatest Hits LP The Immaculate Collection, despite it being a number one both sides of the Atlantic. The film was one of my late Dad's favourites, he thought it was hilarious so every time I see a clip from it it makes me happy. The boy in the video (Chris Finch) wasn't the same as Open Your Heart, who was an English child model and TV presenter called Felix Howard.
What a lovely memory of your Dad. :)
Love this song and movie so much! I don't care what the critics say. I love it. Such a screwball comedy and one of her more under appreciated #1 singles.
Definitely one of the best movies ever! So funny and she is amazing in it! The critics are haters! Lol
Great reaction, ladies! The key 🔑 in the video is significant in the movie. This became Madonna’s 6th #1 song on the Hot Billboard 100 in the summer of 1987. It was the title of her first world tour. The song was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 1988 Grammy Awards, and for Best Original Song at the 45th Golden Globe Awards.
Thank you so much! :) And yes, we thought the key must have been significant - Good to know it was!
Love love love this song and video and movie - it’s when I first became a fan - I’m 47 now and still remember seeing it at the cinema in ‘87 ❤
This is one of her best Songs and one of her most underrated ones.
But it was nr one in a few counties in 1987
Great song from a great movie starring Madonna.
Chris Finch stars with Madonna in this video and also went on tour with her as a dancer on the Who's That Girl Tour. You reacted to a couple of live performances from that tour with him dancing (IE: Into The Groove and Open Your Heart). However, he isn't the same boy in the Open Your Heart video. That boy's name was Felix Howard.
As for a live performance to react to of this song, she's only performed it live on Who's That Girl Tour and then a few times during Rebel Heart Tour. So I suspect, most will recommend the Who's That GIrl Tour performance and it may be easier to find. Also, it's a pretty epic performance that I think you will enjoy if you reacted to the Who's That Girl Tour performance.
Thank you for the info and the recommendation- Really appreciate it! :)
Madonna of course, among the titles she’s earned and artistic personas she’s created is also the queen of re-invention. Over her artistic career, she’ll create many iconic images and looks. The Latin/Hispanic beat and part lyrics in this 1987 film soundtrack song which started with her 1986 hit La Isla Bonita is the continuation of her “love affair” with Latino/Hispanic music, religion, culture, and people which began in her early years in NYC when this influence was vibrant in the Manhattan neighborhoods and people she lived and interacted with. This will have a lasting inspiration throughput her life and career. This hit song became more popular and successful than the film of the same title she starred with.
In the movie, and in her other earlier music videos (Open Your Heart ending scene, the 1989 Pepsi Make A Wish commercial, etc.) Madonna showed a juvenile fun/innocence and an affinity with younger people/kids, perhaps her way of making-up her lost childhood after her beloved mother’s premature death at age 30 when Madonna was age 5. Wonderful reaction from you both. Enjoying your Madonna journey.😊❤
Thank you so much! :) And, as always, we really appreciate the context and understanding you bring with your comments. ❤️
This is actually one of my favorite Madonna songs. I have all of her music collection. Great reaction.
I'd vote for the one from the Who's That Girl tour, i mean its gotta be, she named the tour after this song :)
To answer your little kid question:
FELIX HOWARD was the kid in the “open your heart” video, but he was replaced by CHRIS FINCH in the who’s that girl tour. This is CHRIS FINCH. the other guys are the other dancers from the tour.
I love your Madonna's reactions! She is unique! And Who's That Girl is one of my favorite songs! They play the video plenty of times on MTV Classic.
Thank you so much! :)
@@OurAnxiousReactions You're welcome! Hope you can do her 90s stuff when you finish with her 80s stuff. Madonna dominated the 80s and also a lot of the 90s.
the boy in this video is the same boy who went to dance at the the who's that girl tour. the boy from the open your heart video is a different boy.
Thank you for letting us know! :)
the version of this song on her REBEL HEART tour is really good. a lot of interaction with the audience and it's more acoustic.
Such a terrific Madonna song, video and movie. I will say, the movie suffered from not great writing and maybe directing, but it really showcases Madonna’s comic timing and it was meant to be a slapstick comedy like they had in older times and the critics didn’t understand that. I sure hope you do the other songs from the soundtrack of her’s, Causing A Commotion & Look of Love.
We're very curious to watch the movie after seeing the video! :)
@@OurAnxiousReactions -Yeah, I think you would enjoy it for it’s quirkiness and for Madonna too, of course.
1987 i first heard this song in my Cutlass Supreme..a timeless classic...great song, lyrics, and reaction!
Thank you! ❤️❤️
And a Cutlass Supreme! Love that!
Love the song, loved your reaction! Definitely looking forward for the live performance. I strongly recommend the Rebel Heart Tour version. She singing that tune at 57 gives the verses a completely different vibe!
Thank you so much! :) And thanks for the recommendation as well!
Both guys in the video were on the wtg tour too - Shabba Doo ( rip) and Chris finch - have no idea who the little girl was 🤣
Apparently she said in an interview she wanted the tour to be called who’s that girl . She’s never just that one person , different character’s different videos . She said she’s all of those people. She does a really nice version of who’s that girl on the rebel heart tour , also true blue on the same tour a great version
Thank you for the recommendations! :)
Who's That Girl was a massive hit, #1 in the US, UK and all around Europe but for some reason, it does not get played anymore alot, unlike La Isla Bonita, Like A Prayer, Like A Virgin etc.
It gives positive summer vibes. The video is almost innocent :)
It really is such a positive and uplifting song!
Oh wow, I have actually listened to song in a long time. It's got a great beat. This really takes me back, I saw this movie at the Drive-Ins with a group of old Uni friends. From memory, the movie was great, but I'm going to give it a rewatch.
❤️❤️
Is Causing a Commotion next??? I actually saw this movie when it came out in the theater. I’m so old lol.
Good reaction as always. I also love this song more cause of the music, but with time it's a less favourite for me. Maybe that's why later the song wasn't much performed by Madonna, although It was a number one in USA. The movie is much fun, i like It a lot although it's not a masterpiece film. From the soundtrack of this movie i like a lot the"Causing a commotion" song, and live perfomance i think is super. Kisses 😘😘😘
Thank you so much! :) 😘😘
Love this channel so glad I found you both. Nice reactions
Aww, thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Hi, Madonna sang this song only in 2 tours. I recommend the version of the Rebel Heart Tour .because if you react to the Who's That Girl Tour then you will see it, while the version of the Rebel Heart Tour has been cut from the official version of the DVD. these are the titles that you see best Madonna | Who's That Girl? (Rebel Heart Tour) DVD Edition or MADONNA: "Who's that girl?" live in Italy 2015
Thank you for that recommendation! :)
Listen to can’t stop from Madonna
Who’s that Girl , the movie was derided by critics , ‘ she’s not an actress , she’s barely a human being’ was one lovely quote from a review .
However , it’s a real fun silly screwball comedy and Madonna is just having a ball with Griffin Duane her co star, love Murray the tiger . If you are are feeling a bit down , put it on , it’s gorgeous giggles . ❤😂
It really looked like a fun movie in the clips we saw! ❤️❤️
Terrific review. I wasn’t expecting this video… I will stop trying to figure out where you’re going next. Does this mean you will be reviewing the singles released as videos from the album which lead up to the tour?
If so, I like it.
When they filmed the movie Who’s That Girl, my friends, Rocky and Kim worked on set design. They were about to get married, and they did a graffiti heart with their names in it on a brick wall that is visible in the movie. Cute, huh? ♥️
Enjoying this Madonna ride so much, ty.
Wow! What a wonderful story about your friends - Love that! ❤️
Yes - we're reacting to the released singles (official videos and a live performance) leading up to each tour. 😉
I think you should wait till you react to the who’s that girl tour to watch the live version.
Please react to Madonna's 1991 tour documentary "Truth or Dare".
Omg) good reaction. Next reaction Madonna Shanghai surprise
Thank you so much! :)
Who's That Girl was a loose remake of the Hepburn/Grant film Bringing up, Baby from 1938.
Interesting! :)
Lady from my right side is beautifull
was the song Open your heart?
Yes!! ❤️❤️
