- Leonard McCoy is a doctor not a....who knows???
For all those Who have reported to me the omission of "I'm a doctor not a bricklayer", unfortunately I cannot redo the video, but here you can find it • Dr. McCoy - I'm a Doct...
"Look, I'm a doctor, not an escalator".
I din´t remember that one at all.
Daniel Lopez Second season episode, Friday's Child. Many scenes from sll three seasons of the Original Star Trek Series. At any rate, finest and only best Star Trek out there is the ORIGINAL STAR TREK SERIES.
Greg Holman Easily the best one out of all of them
That’s my favorite one
That's the best one bar none!
McCoy: "I'm a doctor, not a psychiatrist."
Next scene: "Doctor, you are, on the record, an expert in psychology..."
Psychology and Physciatry are related, but not the same.
He said he knew a lil about that.
Hell, maybe Scotty gave him a drink or two of that ....hmm...hmm... well I dunno, it's green.
it wasn't meant to be revealed ...
"I'm a doctor, but not that kind of doctor."
I'm a doctor, not a scriptwriter.
From "Star Drag", featuring the Monster Masher himself, Bobby "Boris" Pickett!
Yes
"I'm a doctor, not a moon shuttle conductor." LOL
That is actually one I don't remember!
@@Admiral8Q So you don't remember the Cat Stevens song, "I'm being followed by a moon shuttle -- moon shuttle, MOON SHUTTLE!"
@@joeschembrie9450 Actually no! Looked it up. Good song!
czcams.com/video/AopGsKIKMp8/video.html
That one's from "The Corbomite Manuever ". Directly after that line, Bones, now by himself, says to himself, "If I jumped every time a red light came on around here, I'd be talking to myself!", as he talks to himself! So, so funny!!
No it's "What am I, a doctor or a moon shuttle conductor?"
"Bones, these people need medical attention!"
"Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a... oh, right."
I miss Phil, too.
Dammit...you beat me to that joke.
And then Spock steps in and performs the Vulcan Heimlich Nerve Pinch.
that is my favorite bones joke
😂 Bones didn't figure it out until a few seconds later
You're missing my favorite quote: "I'm a doctor not a brick layer!" - Devil in the Dark
He had the line right after when Kirk says "You're a healer there's a patient that's an order."
My bricklayer father's favorite line. He flips it though, "Dammit Jim, I'm a bricklayer not a doctor!"
Yes! One of the best lines ever from anywhere.
Lol my favorite one one. As a bricklayer it hits home hahaha
By golly Jim I’m thinking I can cure a rainy day
I'll confess, half the reason i loved star trek, was the verbal sparring between mccoy and spock, it was awesome.
Me too
2:27
I love that small "I am" when McCoy (despite him being weak as f) heard the word "doctor" xDD
I love it when Bones says that he's "just a country doctor."
Just an old country doctor!
I liked when he told Sandoval that he was a doctor. Sandoval said "We have no need of a doctor."
McCoy responded with, "Do you want to see just how fast I can put you in a hospital?!"
Proper psycho!!
Yeah, so great. I also really like his conversation with Edith Keeler after she says, ..."that's hardly a Navy uniform." "That's quite alright, because I don't believe in you, either!"
McCoy is a treasure
The most level headed person on Star Trek.
Mr. Spock was also level headed as well to. The Captain with his impeteous nature, guided by Spock's logic, along with the good Doctor's humanity, is what reslly made this show above and beyond anything else that followed it.
It's funny cause he is and he isn't. He can look at a situation and analyze it in a very clinical dispassionate way, but in a discussion, he's fire and brimstone. In other words, on a mission he's level headed, calm and collected but talking to Spock, he swears up a storm and raises his own blood pressure.
no, that would be Spock...cool, clam, collected, logical.
Sadly he was the first of the original cast to die in the late 1990s. 😭😭😭😭
@@notthatdigusted7468 Well Kelley and Doohan were the two oldest members of the original crew having both been born in 1920.
Captain Kirk: Bones, what are we going to do about this covid virus?
Bones: Damnit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a politician.
Swish!
Captain Kirk: (death glares at Bones) shut up and find a cure. (Leaves the bridge)
Perfect!
Brilliant well said
Hilarious
And one other thing: if De Forest Kelly's gravestone isn't inscribed with "I'm dead, Jim!" then I swear to gpd that before I die I'm heading out to Forest Lawn Cemetery with a hammer and chisel; that's just too perfect, and has to be done...
rumor has it William Shatner went to Ricardo Montalbán funeral and yelled out KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN!!!
lol
He was cremated and buried at sea
May he rest in peace💐
No you're not. Before he died, he said that his greatest fear was that his own headstone would read "He's dead, Jim".
People seem to forget how good an actor DFK was. Great range, good with emotion, and always believable. And he only got better as he got older. Karl Urban is ok, but DFK IS "Bones" McCoy
Troy Ortega True. Just think in 2 years, We would've been 100 in March. I think Gary Sinise would make a better Dr.McCoy; he not only looks likes younger Dr, but could more easily play Bones than Karl (not that Karl can't). It's just that when Gary played in "The Green Mile", I kept picturing him as a future portrayed of Bones, not Karl.
Karl Urban played the part excellent I don't think another actor could have done it better.
I liked Karl Urban. He did a good job channeling Kelley, but still making it a unique performance.
@@virginiaconnor8350 lol, Gary sinise is 65. DeForest Kelly was 45 when Star Trek began filming. I think you're visualizing Gary in the late '90s
@@bp51082 Gary's 65, only 2 months older than I am. He's quite versatile playing a chr. of any age.
Kirk: You don't know you're not a doctor.
Bones from the bed: I am 😂
I missed that before thanks🙂
Loved that
😂😂😂
In EMT training,a classmate was having trouble assessing a "patient" manikin as the instructor threw various scenarios at her to assess & treat.
Finally, because she wasn't getting any improvement on the patient's condition,I was told to step in.
I verbalized that"I am checking for a pulse.I am detecting no pulse.I am checking for respirations, I am detecting no respirations.I am commencing CPR.."
After the required CPR cycles,I reassessed the manikin before locking eyes with the instructor & saying"He's dead,Jim.You get his wallet.I'll get his watch."
The whole class except for my classmate cracked up.
Damn it Jim, I'm a physician, a healer, a medical man....just an old country doctor, as Spock has always suspected.
I have no idea *_how,_* but my brain just had McCoy's voice play out for his lines, and immediately transitioned to Spock at the end.
damm it Jim, I'm a doctor not a pointy eared bastard!
You didn’t finish the Horta scene! “Damnit Jim, I’m a doctor not a bricklayer !”
Damn it Jim, he's a doctor in his doctor shoes, doing his doctor things, feeling his doctor feels!
'This Side of Paradise' has one of McCoy's best ever lines:
"Would you like to see just how fast i can put you in a hospital?" 😂
McCoy is the heart of Star Trek.
LOVE the closing- "Dammit Bill, you're an actor, not a singer!" !!!
Dee Kelley prized *_all_* the letters he received from fans who went into medical professions. He had thought of being a doctor himself, but realized that, by playing Dr. McCoy, he had "created" hundreds of medical professionals. He treasured this thought as a gentle, motivated and truly loving man. R.I.P. DeForest Kelley
Source: _From Sawdust to Stardust_
Kirk: Bones, what do you suppose these memory chips contain?
McCoy: Jim, I’m a doctor, not a computer.
yeah I'm a doctor!
I love this lovely man so much Star Trek would not have been as good without him.
Loved that final zinger about Shatner's singing LOL. Another good line was when he'd say to Spock, 'Are you out of your Vulcan mind?'
Kelly was brilliantly casted as McCoy. I cannot picture anyone else doing the part.
And, interestingly DeForest was considered for the part of Spock. Hard to imagine how different the chemistry would have been with him playing the logician.
"I'm a doctor, not a drummer in a metal band!"
😂
That last little snippet was the best of all of them!
Gosh, this kind of humor is so refreshing! That's one of the many reasons why the old episodes of Star Trek are so much worth to watch. I really miss that in the modern shows of today.
There is an old commercial for Trivial Persuit they asked about the chambers of the human heart. De Kelley pops up with "How the hell should I know. I'm an actor not a doctor
Wow, I'd like I could see it!
2:27 made me laugh a bit more than I should have, that very subtle "I am"
Same 😂
Whenever I’m blue I return to “what am I a doctor or a moon shuttle conductor” and everything resumes being okay.
He's the type of guy that will tell you before he even starts the shift, what he's going to do and what he's not going to do
RIP Doctor...not a mechanic...nor an engineer...nor an escalator...nor a coal miner...
I still love the one where McCoy is like 'I only peek in the line of duty.' Does anyone ever wonder if he ever said that when he's hooking up with a pretty girl on shore leave?! We still love you DeForest Kelly. LLAP And why does he call himself an old country doctor?
Uh, that episode *was* titled Shore Leave and when he said that line, he was (not) watching his pretty girl undress. While on shore leave. 😆
Hmm a character bio said he was born in Atlanta, GA doesnt sound small town or country to me. Unless way in the future it's a small town.
@@RachelG1979 A homage to the original series was done by Vic Mignogna, Chuck Huber, and other actors/fans entitled "Star Trek Continues." In one episode Kirk and Bones were put into a virtual reality situation recreating the U.S. Civil War; Kirk was a Union soldier and Bones was a Confederate soldier/doctor.
I think maybe McCoy is from either Tennessee or Georgia.
@@Jeng4280Georgia
For God's sake, Jim. I'm a doctor, not a pool man!
I read it in Ace Ventura’s voice, it is funny as hell
THAT'S my favorite one! 🤣🤣😅
On the gravestone of DeForest Kelly .... " I'm a star fleet captain now not an old country Doctor . "
He really would have been a doctor if he haven’t played one in Star Trek, That would have been Dr. Kelley, not Dr. McCoy.
One of the best jokes in the SNL "Wrath of Khan" sketch is when a woman is choking on her sandwich. Kirk calls for McCoy (Phil Hartman) to help her. His line-"I'm a doctor, not a - oh, right!"
"You keep saying that! Are you a doctor, or aren't you?"
Macsen Phloudio I don’t know
1:07 I love how Bones gives it oomph
Damn it! I'm a doctor, not a singer! PRICELESS!
I had a friend who would quote "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not an escalator!" to me *all the damn time.* Three guesses what my first name is.
Rumpelstiltskin
Obama
Leonard
Jean Luc?
Spock?
Happy birthday Dr. McCoy!
One of my top favorite Star Trek characters ^_^
Can't beat the good ole Original Star Trek Series!
No argument here
Just love the dialog in each and every episode
2:10 “I’m a surgeon, not a psychiatrist” “DOCTOR YOU ARE, ON THE RECORD, AN EXPERT IN PSYCHOLOGY”
Took me years before I got that in Ace Ventura Pet Detective where Ace jumps in the fish tank yelling "DAMN IT JIM! I'M A DOCTOR NOT A POOL MAN! 😡"
I miss him so much :( RIP Brother
1:39. Spock showing emotions.
Oh my god
That last line was more than worth waiting for! 😂😂😂👏👏👏👍👍👍😎
Best line comes at the very end: "Dammit Bill, youre an actor not a singer." 😂😂😂😂
“Dammit Bill, you’re an actor, not a singer”
William Shatner goes to space.
Kelley says to him: “Dammit, Bill, you’re an actor, not an astronaut!”
"I'm a DOCTOR not a DANCER!"
As I've been saying for years, I think DeForest Kelly remembered a line from the Inez Miller Story of the TV series The Millionaire, and suggested it which was accepted.
"Not a politician." It's on CZcams.
“I don’t know.”
“You keep saying that. Are you a doctor or aren’t you?”
“I don’t know.”
I'm not a Doctor, but if I needed one I'd want McCoy.
McCoy on his wedding night: "Dammit, I'm a doctor, not a sex machine!"
@0:09 I'm amazed how one thought the equipment was state of the art then. Knobs, blinky-blinkies, big cartridges with some data in them. And how they thought that a dull, monotonous computer voice is high-tech. You gotta love that!...
Love me some Majel Barrett Roddenberry as the Enterprise computer. "WORKING..."
This was in the early 60s so much of this was revolutionary
Like the Mother on Alien, tiny tiny screen, tons of lights.
I'm a doctor, not a trash compactor.
My favorite used to be that he isn’t an escalator. Over time, my favorite has changed to “what am I, a doctor or a moon shuttle conductor?”
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for! LLAP!
Kirk: How long will this pandemic last?
McCoy: Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor not a politician.
Kirk: So destroy the Covid instead of talking
McCoy : I'm a doctor not a scientist
Kirk: -_-
I want to give you more thumbs ups but it wont let me. :-)
Even more so true today!
Bones, issues masks to the entire crew!
Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a costume designer.
@@Lerxstification 😆 👌🏽
Thank you Deforest Kelly for the last comment about Shatner's 'singing'. Someone had to tell the truth.
He doesnt sing he recites (talks) songs.
In the STTNG pilot, the aged Dr. McCoy(now an admiral and presumably retired) says to Data, "I don't see any points on your ears, but you sound like a Vulcan!" I always liked that line.
He said he's a doctor not a politician a decade earlier in The Millionaire so he's clearly a time traveler.
that last one was hilarious damn it you're an actor not a singer
And NOT a very good 1 at that!
@@DMSProduktions Well, Shatner didn't do a good job with Mr. Tambourine Man or Rocket Man!
LOL! I am guessing English is NOT your 1st language! (Otherwise the negative would have told you that!)
@@DMSProduktions I was agreeing with you. Also, check out how Nimoy sings, too--The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.
Haha, ok! Yes, Actually Len could sing a trifle better than Bill! (But not much!) Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, the greatest little Hobbit of them all... yeah!
I'm a doctor, not a mechanic (perfect line for a confrontation with a Doomsday Machine)
Dr Leonard McCoy is the best, angriest doctor the world has ever seen, and he's the only one who always tries to angrily give himself a heart attack onscreen.
dammit jim, im a sexy doctor not a sexy scientist
And the bender never ends..
I’m just an old country doctor. Best line!!
McCoy" I'm a doctor not a miner"
They left out the "bricklayer" line, my favorite.
I love Bones :) now I realize how many times he actually said that haha!
Because it's true! I'm a doctor
Why was the 'Horta' scene from; Devil In The Dark episode cut out? it had McCoy legendary; "I'm a Doctor, not a brick layer" scene in there.
3:10 perfect place to end it!
And he's the kind of doctor I'd pay real money to see.
Nice catch at 2:10. I've just been going back to watch all the TOS I've missed and never caught that contradiction in season 1.
There needs to be a compilation video of McCoy stating- "He's dead, Jim".
I love bones. Hes hilarious
DeForest kelley had some of the most famous sayings in tv history
My day is complete
They had the scene with the horta or whatever before he said "I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer"
"I'm a doctor, not a scriptwriter!"
I’m a Doctor, not a brick layer!
This is from the Horta. Missing here.
Am I the only only one who thinks Bones is the star of the show! I mean Kirk and the bloke with the ears are good but they're not Bones.
And yet it is always he whose role is cut or his importance sidelined.
if it was for that bloke with the ears Star trek would have never made it to 50.
Dr. McCoy, my favorite doctor!
I'm a doctor not a bricklayer !!!!!!!!!
This is why McCoy is my favorite
“Im a doctor and he’s dead Jim”
When he says I'm a doctor, not an engineer from Mirror, Mirror, it makes me think of a similar line Scotty says when Kirk and everybody steals the Enterprise in Star Trek 3. But I'm not sure why that's the only one. Whenever he says I'm a doctor, not an engineer, I think 'Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock'
That slap in the face (from Bones to the pregnant women) is the best scene in the show! Today that would cause some « problems » for the show!
She deserved it.
0:45 makes me laugh
1:08
uwu
XD
"what I'm I a doctor or a moon shuttle conductor?"
Phil Hartman as Bones: "Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a doctor!- oh, wait-"
XDDD
" I'm a Doctor,
not a bricklayer"!!!
