I couldn't help but notice quite a few canadian jerseys in the crowd jumping up and down during the comeback. I'm pretty proud to see that as it was some pretty nice plays and heart on the part of Austria. Nice.

Speaking as a Leafs fan myself, Tavares brought some good ol' Leafs "magic" to the ice, i.e., complete collapse under pressure ... what the Toronto Maple Leafs "excel" at!

Seems strange to be having a hockey tournament at a time where the rosters and talent available for the participating teams are so dependent on the various outcomes of currently ongoing NHL games.
It's by design I think.
@@leeham6230lol nope It's just that since forever does European,season starts/ends sooner that NHL. For most of history of this tournament NHL players didn't participate at all so it didn't matter. Tournament was already pushed as far as possible more recently.

It is strange, but still a fun tournament. I’m Swedish and the World Championships mean a lot, even though some of the best players aren’t available.
Assembling a team of super stars at the last second can be beaten by a team of lesser players that have played together constantly.

Countries like Sweden, USA, Finland will love playing against Bedard's absolutely non-existent defensive skills. They get to do it in the NHL, which is why he is in on so many goals. He'll eventually get better defensively, but he's looking absolutely atrocious right now.

This whole tournament, Canada has looked as solid as a fudge-sickle on a hot car seat. and the arrival of captain choke on the team has early exit written all over it. Last time I checked 98 doesn't play D or goalie. Bennington is as steady as a one legged sailor with parkinson's. And the d is giving up 2 on 1s like a clearance warehouse handing out new country CDs

Bedard is overrated Matt Rempe is better skill-wise lets be real. According to my calculations Matt Rempe and Connor Bedard are both rookies and Matt Rempe has more playoff goals than him. Am I missing something here? Also bedard was a -44 while Rempe was a +1. All evidence supports the claim that Matt Rempe is a better hockey player. Also Rempe is canadien he should be playing in this tournament.
Why would he just up and leave his team in the Stanley cup Playoffs? The Rangers were already a good team before they got Rempe, Chicago was in the shitter and might be for the next season or two. All Rempe does is get himself into fights really. Bedard uses his hands for scoring, and had a much better junior career then Rempe. Bedard beats him in skill any day.

Funny Thing . There are Faster Skaters than Any NHL Player . Some are Kids . It's what you can do at that speed that Matters . I practiced skating for 10 yrs before I learned to use my momentum to slingshot me to . The other players were standing still . I was skating through Cones . If I had some scoring touch ? I might have made it .

John Taveras has to be one of the most overrated hockey players ever. Dude disappears in crunch time and has not once justified him $11M salary(12G 12A in 38 playoffs goals with Leafs is pathetic). I mean if your taking the NHL for $11M a year you better have had at least one 100P season and this guy never even sniffed 90P! I said this when he was signed while Isles fans were devoted and Leafs fans were ecstatic and now everybody is in the same boat and know I was right all along!

not a surprise when you have JT and Dubois as your vet players. They can barely beat low level Euro Pro team lol. Austria's roster all plays within the Austrian league ICEHL/ALPSHL(posted on 2024 IIHF Championship Roster" via Wikipedia) which is worse than College/OHL/WHL hockey. ICEHL is not even in the 15 ranked leagues in the world. This should have been beer league for an all NHL roster. Most of these guys have never played equivalent to North America's Junior C level hockey in their life.
LOL Tavares and Dubois both played in the playoffs this year, like it or not, thats more talent than this team can afford to past up.
