- She's sassy, she's sweet, she's got wit and snark. And dare I say, she might be a little passive aggressive sometimes.
I have seen "character being" compilation videos for almost everything except Power Rangers, so I did this video commemorating my favorite character; Kimberly Hart.
Mostly I used the most "valley girl" moments, but also some clips I just thought were funny since Kim became less valley after episode twenty or so.
.... This show is a disaster.

I love how much fun she had while under Rita's spell and when Zedd tried to marry her lol Jo was chewing that scenery!
I can't believe they only were getting paid like $600 a week for one of the most popular kids show at the time.

Every time I see Thuy Trang, I get really depressed...she could've had a great life, but it was taken away from her. She was also very beautiful. Why does perfection have to be taken away from this world. Amy Jo Johnson is also beautiful, but there was something special about Thuy Trang. RIP Thuy Trang.

When she Connor and Ethan's personalities changed: connor became a geeky nerd like Billy Ethan became more of a jock and Kira became more girly girl and Kira said the same hair joke when she was complaining about her ranger outfit and her helmet giving her a bad hair day and also Emma says the same hair joke near the end of the very first megaforce episode but to be honest their hair doesn't look bad at all when they take off their helmets I mean come on if you girls out there were wearing a power rangers outfit would you complain about your hair getting messed up after wearing a power rangers outfit?
When you remember that out of the five original cast members, Amy Jo Johnson was the only one who was even remotely a "name" actor prior to the show.

@KBM515 True. Austin and JDF basically converted the roles into success with their own dojos, and Thuy died five years after leaving the show with only two more roles to her name. Walter's mostly been a character actor, and with David's shift to behind-the-camera work, Amy's the only one who had real success as an actor. Which isn't surprising given they were basically child stars.
Walter Jones was in family matters and I think Thuy Trang was also in the Crow

He's so used to her rejection, so it's odd whenever she actually shows an interest in him.
She can pilot the pterodactyl, and combine up the Mega Ultrazord, but she panics on a small airplane? Heck she can even use her communicator to ask for Alpha 5’s help.
You know..ive never thought about that before; but this franchise was imo rife with contradictions in characterization and plot holes..lots of inconsistencies. Like Billy having a fish phobia yet he hauls ass to a planet that is comprised of nothing but water. And allegedly/potentially hooks up with their Queen; an alien that is literally half human half fish and not in a beautiful mermaid way...more like a scary star trek-heavy in the prosthetics way. Don't even get me started on tommy teaching science and having a PhD. And being addressed as DR. Fuck no would that EVER happen in a legit way that didn't involve fraud/undercover espionage/or a complete redefining of the acronym..so if PhD stands for 'pretty huge dick'; ill jump on board for that on his behalf. Until then; imo everything DT - current never happened as Tommy would have never ended up with that degree, that profession, or that clingy hoe for a 'wife'. But for Kimberly ill justify with shes 16 and the entire concept of operating modes of transportation is relatively new; zords are probably very different control wise and operational; just like how my dads a pilot and flight instructor but he doesn't know how to fly a helicopter. You can learn both but they're very different operationally. And idk if this is mentioned i feel like it was somewhere in the beginning of some series; that when morphed and piloting/driving their zords; the knowledge of how to operate them was instantaneous as if on instinct; just another lil obligatory perks of the job/courtesy of the coin kinda thing? Idk . You probably asked that rhetorically and weren't looking for a logical answer for a series where logic def was not a theme...but its kind of a fun challenge to try and find some anyways. So eff it; there ya go. :)
Yeah when they morph they're knowledge is advanced which is why on season 1 you would see billy not being the competent fighter until he morphs.
I know this is from Voltron but when they piloted their lions most didnt have knowledge but rather a connection and feeling of how to use the controls. I just apply it to this situation also.
Always loved how Zordon referred to her as "my dear." Plus how concerned she was about Zordon throughout the movie.
Really wish they pushed a more fatherly bond with the Rangers and Zordon. Something like them coming to him if they needed help with homework, advice on life, needing to get away from something at home (getting bullied, home problems, etc).
I think the comics kinda got into that. But not exactly to the father-child extent.
That would be nice though. Especially, with Tommy being adopted and Kim having divorced parents.
@@UJEvans that's what I'm saying. I wish they would've dealt with divorce on the show or running away. Something that would call for one of the rangers to hideout in the command center and have Zordon and Alpha take care of them while also mentoring them. Might be a little difficult to navigate for a kids show but PRiS and LG were pretty dark to begin with.

@@UJEvans Yep, not even kidding! She's told one or two stories in interview about it. One time when filming a scene in the Rad Bug, she'd eaten beans beforehand and was feeling gassy...and the others soon knew about it!!

Kimberly represents a character type I miss that was fairly common in the 90's, the short-haired girly girl. I like femininity and I find short hair on women attractive, so as far as fictional crushes go, she's a best of both worlds. Nowadays, a female character with her hairstyle in a TV show would be a tomboy or a girlboss type. We wouldn't have another pink ranger with a bob type haircut until Karone in Lost Galaxy.

I notice Trini and Zack are the only Rangers on the 1st team who never had a spell put on them to make them hostile towards other Rangers, mean to others, or evil. Kim and Billy were briefly punks. Tommy briefly worked for Rita then Zedd. Billy briefly worked for Goldar. Jason and Tommy briefly turned on each other. Zack and Billy did briefly mistake other Rangers for Putties but their personalities remained in tact so that doesn't count. Kim briefly turned on Trini and was briefly meaner than usual to Bulk and Skull and rude to Zordon and Alpha. They all briefly got their minds taken from them by BeanCaster so that really doesn't count either. Tommy and Kim briefly turned on each other.
