- ET looks back at its first behind-the-scenes interview with the cast of 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,' a celebration of the pop culture phenomenon's 30th anniversary. Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost, Walter Jones, Austin St. John and Thuy Trang chatted with ET on the set in 1993, sharing their excitement for the childrens' TV series and explaining how each episode will have a positive message for kids.
RIP Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank and thanks to the entire cast and crew for creating great childhood memories for millions of people around the world. Go Go Power Rangers.

If they would have gotten even just 2% royalties from merchandise, those actors would have been millionaires. Instead that one greedy butt hole became a billionaire and gave their cut to Hilary and Obama.

I might be wrong, but I think Jason Frank, Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost were going to join their departing co-stars too, and Tommy’s return as the White Ranger could’ve been short lived, if they didn’t change their mind. They chose to grin and bear it instead of urging Haim Saban to reopen negotiations, but Austin St John, Thuy Trang and Walter Jones walked off the set, they wanted to take a stand because they felt they were being bullied and they deserved to be treated like professional actors.

The show was non union. They knew that signing up. Saban did not renew the contracts for the 3 who were demanding more money. Essentially they were fired. Saban kept it fair. Everyone had the same salary. He wasn’t allowing anyone get an ego just cause they felt they were the star of the show and felt they deserved to make more than their coworkers.

So me and him were probably watching the show at the same time. I was 9 when I first started watching, 39 now.

HUGE part of my childhood. Use to pretend all the time. Had the toys indeed. When the films came out it was even better. Remember these episodes and commercials. Im 40 now and i remember these like yesterday.

I was only 6 when power rangers was first aired on fox in 1993 on a Saturday morning i wont ever forget watching the very first episode i was so excited. I can't believe that was 30 years ago. I feel old now lol happy anniversary power rangers!

Actually it looks more like the episode Calamity Kimberly. Which explains why Amy Jo Johnson was not wearing her Pink Ranger costume unlike the other four cast members.

But I do remember MMPR being one of the big stories on an episode of Entertainment Tonight.
It was one of the biggest things to hit the culture at the time.
But we never thought it would last 30 years ago.

What's happening with Austin at the moment? I heard he'd been facing federal fraud charges and was looking to facing imprisonment which prevented him from being in the MMPR Once & Always special.
@@AndrewChapman He was arrested in May 2022 for participating in a scheme to commit wire fraud related to COVID-19 relief loans. But he’s doing just fine. He’s only on probation which is why he can’t travel out of the country. He can still attend Comic Cons. But keep in mind even if he could travel out of the country, and be allowed to reprise his role there is likely possibility that he might have declined like perhaps depending on however much money the cast was being offered. Payment was part of the reason why he wasn’t in the Super Legendary Megaforce movie from 2018.

I remember the first day I saw the guys I was getting ready for school I was 3 years old and Mom said that I could watch something on TV and sure enough I turned it well Mom turned it to the channel and sure enough I saw the power rangers for the first time then I knew that I was hooked and I saw the color of the blue and the red and every other color of the power rangers and I was hooked😊

I started watching it 30 years ago when I was a 9 year old in the 3rd grade living in Lawton Oklahoma. Seemed like everybody liked it back then then a couple years later when i moved to Hawaii i got picked on for watching it.

Yeah this was my show! I was in tae kwon do and wanted to save the world from monsters and bad guys lol. I watched the show wirh the pink ranger as a detective later on. It was very okay
