Thank you SO much for this video, ive got a perfect working A1314 but only 2 keys dont work, the Quote key and the Delete key, after seeing this video ive just decided to buy a new one hahaha ;)

I had EXACTLY the SAME two keys failing, quote and delete. I am trying to put up some alcohol on it to see if the electrical contacts will fix, but aint got much hope though.

Keep the bluetooth module.
I had one where the delete key stopped working, and another where the bluetooth module stopped working.
After watching this, I swapped over the circuit board and I now have a working keyboard, and one junker
I was just about to say the same thing, only stopped after seen yours: mine is the and keys....
I didn't expect it to be easy , but never expected to be that hard .
So i typed in A1314 in search and saw all the lovely keyboards in your thumbnail and had to click it. Then I heard some lakey inspired track I dropped and the icing on the cake is you properly credited the artist. This video made my night! I just frankensteined two of my A1314's together to get this one im using to work again I've had it since like 2008 or 2009. Great key travel compared to all the new stuff out. Thank you for crediting!

You got a lotta patience man. I wish there was a simple way to fix these and a1644‘s.. I have literal drawfuls of them, shame to have to recycle them instead of repairing.

thanks for the video! I have the same keyboard, when press space, it came out "/". Sometimes the keyboard output charcters automaticly. In this case, is something wrong with the logic board?
I have two of these one works perfectly, except the number one key, I had to type it out as it doesn't work lol. The other just causes random things to happen when it is switched on, like typing by itself, closing apps and worst of all moving stuff to the recycle bin. This is the one I took apart it's possessed lol. Gave up trying to fix them and bought a coupe,e of used ones from eBay.
If you have faulty keys you can use electronics to create custom mechanical keyboard with identical key matrix like the original.

I watched it after I did the tear down myself. To no avail, now none of the keys work, and I used a multimeter and all the connections have continuity so I'm not even really sure what happened.
Maybe the logic board went bad during the repair?
Man, for just a single key why not use AHK to remap to another key? I do appreciate you taking out the logic board - which was instructive for the fix mine required

Fairplay to you- that tracer separation had to be extremely irritating. Any idea how to reattach the down arrow? mine wont stay on.
i got one that was perfectly fine besides shiny keys and a faded out s key for just 5 bucks at a garage sale. garage sales have amazing deals im telling you
Oh and you need to press the caps lock key with a bit of pressure for it to work

At 28 minutes in my apple A1314 is in the bin im not even going to attempt to fix the damn thing
I have one that have batteries are impossible to remove due to leak and swallowing. I wonder if I can power this keyboard with flat li-ion cell. The question is if 4.2V is not too high as originally it was 3V from double AA batteries.
Maybe it's too late but...whille you're at disasembling these f'n keyboards, would you be so kind to track the electric circuit of the traces and post it? that way when we broke the membrane at least we could re-do the electric circuit in a pcb and hook it up to the bluetooth board, thanks!

Hi ever since I washed the keyboard with water, my keys type random letter. it appears on the Bluetooth preferences but after putting in the password it wants to doesn't connect.
I can't open the bar behind the keyboard. My finder-nail does not work to open so I can't get the batteries out. Help!

Mine is unresponsive and sometimes presses buttons on its own. on/off will fix it for a while.
So I guess cleaning is all I can do.
Hate that these things aren't repairable basically.

All you did is tear the shit apart.
more than 1 hour.. just use IPA to get the plastic of the back, man.. it took me less thank 5 minutes.
Video or it didn't happen. IPA or/and heat it's difficult to take it apart without breaking it.
