So different then when I grew up on Andrews in the 80s. Best time of my life.
Amazing!
Retired Sailor and former AF brat... the closest Navy base that can compete with AF standards is NAS Lemoore, CA. Air Force quality of life is no joke!
Unless you are a single junior enlisted person. The military discriminates against single military personnel in a rathe negative way.
@@kennixox262 Sorry to hear that. Not sure about current AF standards, but new Navy dorms are basically 2-4 bedroom apartments now and they don't have to live on the ship any longer. Definitely an improvement in morale.
I never lived the dorms except when I was a USAFA Cadet. Single officers are given BAH and BAS but even single officers get screwed real good, especially in my early years as a junior officer in the mid 1980's. Still, years later as a "suspiciously" single Lieutenant Colonel always got shafted on the flight schedule, especially Christmas. There was a time at Charleston AFB (JB Charleston), single enlisted up to E-6, that's a Tsgt for those who may not know, had to live in the dorms, no exceptions and those E-5 and below were on a meal card. My husband, a retired E-9 in his early days has lots of stores of the old dorms, two to a room, smokers and non smokers, different shifts, filthy latrines down the hall over the weekends from the drunks, 437th APS squadron, drunks, drugs, loud music, fights, "issues", bowling balls dropped off the fire escapes nearing hitting him and then bouncing into the 1st Shirts car as the Orderly room was in the dorm. I could go on. I would say, anyone contemplating joining the USAF as a single person, beware, as extreme right wing Christians rule the roost and looks down on singles. Comments and opinions from a retired C-141B > C-17 pilot. I could also go into a lot of the abuse that aircrew have to endure that is for another day.

Damn junior enlisted housing in lackland are not even close to this 😂😂
Damn is it bad? I leave in a couple weeks lol
Hello what base is that please? Looks pretty
Virginia
I’ve seen some crappy housing as well.
Not investing that BAH into your own home off base isn’t what I would do.
House free pay from taxes
Anyone who thinks the housing is free doesn't know the truth, In the military you get a Basic Housing Allowance, it is basically part of your pay with your pay grade and rank, If you live on base you do not get it, if you live off base they have a certain amount the govt will allot pay, Most of the time the BHA is for when there no base housing available for families coming to a base, so they have to find quarters off base.
@@mickeymouse3976 BAH, not BHA.
MHA, QHA, BAH, OHA or BAQ either way people get the point.
What rank are you?
He’s senior airmen e4
@@donkeyman1114 It’s been I. About 3-4 years. He’s considered very low ranking. So I’m wondering how he got such a nice house.
