Emma, I love this video so much! I work in a dual language school and unfortunately I’ve been encountering some parents lately who are not very open to the idea of learning a second language and who allow their fear of the unfamiliar to take over. I think that being open to other languages is so important even if, or especially if, we don’t understand what is being said. The beauty of the world is that there is so much diversity and so many beautiful languages. It’s so fascinating to hear words that I don’t understand and just be able to listen to the cadence of the words and wonder. That wonder is what makes life exciting.
Thank you for making this video and for being so open to trying new languages, even when you have no idea what it says! That open-mindedness is key and I hope that people who watch this video will be able to see that as well. ❤️❤️❤️

I have actually never read Cassie's books in German, I go straight to the original versions and when my mum read the translated TMI books it was so weird to hear the German pronunciations of the names.
I thought of giving the translations a try, but I think I'll pass because I don't agree with the way some words have been translated.

Thanks for this video - I laughed so much. Especially about you pronouncing certain lines in German (my motherlanguage), Italian and Swedish (I'm currently learning both). Your Italian pronounciation sounds more like Spanish, and in the Swedish one you spoke the 'r' far to much - it's also mir of a flowing and singing language. And the German was the funniest for me - cause I needed actually three tries and the english translation to understand what you were saying... I definity doesn't want to afford you, probs to you for even trying and I myself doens't even want to know how many grammar mistakes are in here, sooo..... btw I read Throne of Glass in Swedish (though first in German)

Never read City of Bones in Portuguese tho. Ever since I learned English I stopped reading books translated in Portuguese xD
Also, I had 3 years of Spanish classes at school and I was very good at it, but nowadays... well I can speak a liiiiitle bit but I can understand pretty well specially if I'm reading it (there might just be some words that trip me off since not every word in Spanish is close to Portuguese) but since I fell out of practice every time I try to speak Spanish my brain goes to English right away. It's like "Foreign language? BOOM! English!" xD

I read the City of bones in three languages- Bulgarian ( as I am from there), English and German and I want to read it in Spanish so. And I find your collection of the book in different languages really great. I wish you have tried some of the Cyrillic languages too.

Assuming this was most likely your first time speaking german you did quite well:)
I'm german, but I usually decide the language I read in by choosing the prettier cover. I read tmi in german, since I wasn't fluent in english back then but switched for tda because book translations take soooo long. I am currently studying swedish and hope to be able to read "harry potter och de vises sten" next summer.

Oh now I'm sad that Russian has cyrillic alphabet! 🙈 But I loved the video anyway, it was incredibly funny!
As a person who also (kind of) speaks German and Swedish, I found it so cute you reading in those languages haha You did a good job!
Answering your question, based on my Goodreads account I've read 41 books in foreign language which is English for me (obviously my first language is Russian), and I actually like reading in book's original language more, because a lot of stuff gets lost in translation and I just don't want to miss a single thing!
Also, I'm really sorry to point it out, but my name is Vasilisa, not Vasalissa (if I'm the one you're referring to in the description box, I'm not really sure anymore 😂) ❤

ok so I'm German and it was really funny seeing you struggle with it so much xD but nowadays I read most books in English, especially with Cassandra Clare books I started reading TMI in German and now I read TID and TDA in English only. Also I read Harry Potter in French (but that was not a good idea I struggled so much )
bit generally I now prefer reading english books in english because the vibe of a book sometimes completely changes when being translated. I tried reading Lady Midnight in german after having read in english but I just couldn't do it, the tone or ambiance of the story felt different

I minored in French in college. So I’ve read: Les Jeux sont Faits by Jean-Paul Sartre, Perrault’s Barbe-Bleu and La Belle et la Bête in the original French publication, Le Silence de la Mer, and Carmen. Right now I’m working on reading Harry Potter et le prisonnier d’azkaban & Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me in French (Ne me Touche pas). Lovely video!

I have a copy of City of Bones in Mandarin Chinese if that is of any interest for your collection? It was a gift by a well-meaning grandparent when I was learning Mandarin but I never became proficient enough to read it.

I hava read about 9 books in English my first language is Swedish. I read the first book in English in my freetime when I was 14 it was very hard at first it took to books before I got it. I would recommend reading a thriller first because those books keeps you entertained when it is getting frusterating.

Ive been in French immersion for four years and currently I’m in the middle of reading La Haine Qu’on Donne (the Hate U Give) and it’s amazing. I can’t even imagine having an accent as good as yours. It’s would be so cool to have a book in so many languages! I also know a little bit of German and I’m in the process of learning the Russian alphabet.

I re-read the TMI series in German and this was such a nice experience because you know what happens in the book, but you don't know how it will be portrayed in that language. Also both English and German are not my native language but I enjoy a book in them more than in Bulgarian. kinda sad, but I just can't read a book in my mother tongue
