I agree that the Taken and Scorn act and look sufficiently differently than their base counterparts, but they are also visibly and mechanically corrupted forms of the races we already knew. It's varying degrees imo. The Taken are the closest, then the Scorn, and now the Dread are largely comprised of completely original enemy designs and attack patterns.

Keep in mind they said "certain abilities" so it'll likely be a curated list. Meaning we'll have access to some, not all, of the other subclasses. "No one would use the other 5 subclasses if they all got merged into one" was probably their line of thinking in development (sure, subclass-less game sounds nice but I don't think it would be very intuitive for new players; so this became a compromise).
I know it doesn’t mean a lot just from one random person, but I love this game, and I always will. I know that it’s probably been a rough time for you guys, and the community is not in the best place, but you guys are awesome and deserve to know it! Have a good day.

Seems to be quite reasonable that the dread were realized in the delay, if anything was added (just more time to get the DLC done as a whole could also make sense). The original Final Shape Show put emphasis solely on subjugators, while also not wording sentences in any way that teased further new enemies. Prismatic seems to have been planned already, as tesselation had the whole "all subclass colors in the weapon quartz + can be any element" Spiel in the original show already.
Now THIS is a power fantasy. I can't believe they gave us combo subclasses and combo exotics at the same time. They really made "The Craftening" but for subclasses CheeseForever gonna be a mouse in a cheese factory, the glitches and weird interactions are going to feel endless.

To be fair, I'm of the opinion that the devs (mostly) always cook in this game, and it's more management that lets their meal sit in the fridge for three days before they feed it to the flies.

The Witness isn’t a master of light and dark? That’s a huge advantage for us. It might understand both on a level beyond us theorically but we actually have it and have ways of using it it’s never could hope to.

It’s interesting. Destiny is special to me, and by extension I held Bungie in esteem for providing this special thing ‘the right way’ while devs got pummeled in other studios. Many things have altered my feelings over the years. The growing influence of intense monetization on the overall design, content vaulting, an impenetrable barrier to entry for new players, tone deaf updates, and lastly the abrupt termination of so many people while the ‘decision makers’ seemed untouched. The final shape looks dope. But i feel this reveal could have been so much more powerful and meaningful if things were… not like they are now. I wonder how much of this amazing content was created and developed by people who were cut loose in the final mile of this special game.

@@numbjuhnuTrue. Bungie stated in an article years ago, with the launch of Beyond Light, that there would be three dark subclasses, to match the three light ones. Also makes sense when you remember: Destiny deals in themes of symmetry.
This looks really cool and really does feel like the witness has stepped onto the home turf of the guardians and they have the home advantage with all these awesome abilities.
The build crafting looks really cool and fun. I think the safe choice here is to not allow this in the crucible at all. Except for maybe a game mode that's dedicated to allowing the chaos.
This is mostly good however everyone I have talked to about the class Exotics say that this is to far, and that it should be limited to the class your playing rather then other classes

I wasn't fortunate enough to have found Destiny 1 or even early years of Destiny 2. I found myself loving the game with the covid lockdown. I have no attachment to all these guns and nods to the past. The nostalgia doesn't get me hyped. I am sure its great for all those who have been playing forever, but I wonder if Bungo is out of touch. How many people bought and loved Witch Queen because they were stuck home and how many of them make up the majority of the player base? How many OG players are actually playing or coming back? Not just the content creators, I mean real players? I have yet to see a Bungie give me a poll to take when I log into the game. It seems the only polls come from X or content creator only Discord. I hope the Final Shape will be fun, I am happy to get to do the exotic missions, (but realistically I already paid for those expansions and should have been given them anyway). I guess I am just tired of people pushing pvp and old timey nostalgia instead of just making a fun good game that is worth the 100 bucks.
Okay okay, the Prismatic class combining multiple classes is awesome! And the new enemy type is amazing! But the thing that caught my attention the most was the new Exotic class items that COMBINE 2 random perks from other exotics?! That's insane! I cant wait to try all if this out!
I hope that Prismatic doesn't just upgrade the grenade. Although I would be fine with that, but I hope it upgrades the melee as well. This is a stretch, but I hope they upgrade the super and class ability when you go Transcendent.

The Witness isn’t a master of light and dark? That’s a huge advantage for us. It might understand both on a level beyond us theorically but we actually have it and have ways of using it it’s never could hope to.

It’s interesting. Destiny is special to me, and by extension I held Bungie in esteem for providing this special thing ‘the right way’ while devs got pummeled in other studios.
Many things have altered my feelings over the years. The growing influence of intense monetization on the overall design, content vaulting, an impenetrable barrier to entry for new players, tone deaf updates, and lastly the abrupt termination of so many people while the ‘decision makers’ seemed untouched.
The final shape looks dope. But i feel this reveal could have been so much more powerful and meaningful if things were… not like they are now.
I wonder how much of this amazing content was created and developed by people who were cut loose in the final mile of this special game.
The Crucible has been officially broken. We'll see a major update after week 1, but boy will it be fun for a week!!

I still see us getting a red class eventually to further build upon prismatic and give us a full 3 dark subclasses

It might still happen. Considering the fact that this caught us by surprise, they could be hiding it for later date.
@@numbjuhnu what are they supposed to hide? That is the feature. There isn't an equal amount of subclasses, it just mixing abilities and using x amount of both sides just makes you transcend.

@@numbjuhnuTrue. Bungie stated in an article years ago, with the launch of Beyond Light, that there would be three dark subclasses, to match the three light ones. Also makes sense when you remember: Destiny deals in themes of symmetry.

Was low key hoping for a mew darkness sublcass to balance out but this is cool too, hopefully a new darkness one still comes out later
This looks really cool and really does feel like the witness has stepped onto the home turf of the guardians and they have the home advantage with all these awesome abilities.
The build crafting looks really cool and fun. I think the safe choice here is to not allow this in the crucible at all. Except for maybe a game mode that's dedicated to allowing the chaos.

This is mostly good however everyone I have talked to about the class Exotics say that this is to far, and that it should be limited to the class your playing rather then other classes
Now, this is looking more like a proper final expansion. Crossing fingers for a great story/final, will wait for first impressions when it comes out.
SERIOUSLY missed the "make your own destiny" line for the final major expamsion.

Exotic class items? Finally! Not seen since D1. New enemies? Finally! Combining abilities? Finally! They should call this The Finally! Shape.

I wasn't fortunate enough to have found Destiny 1 or even early years of Destiny 2. I found myself loving the game with the covid lockdown. I have no attachment to all these guns and nods to the past. The nostalgia doesn't get me hyped. I am sure its great for all those who have been playing forever, but I wonder if Bungo is out of touch.
How many people bought and loved Witch Queen because they were stuck home and how many of them make up the majority of the player base? How many OG players are actually playing or coming back? Not just the content creators, I mean real players? I have yet to see a Bungie give me a poll to take when I log into the game. It seems the only polls come from X or content creator only Discord.
I hope the Final Shape will be fun, I am happy to get to do the exotic missions, (but realistically I already paid for those expansions and should have been given them anyway). I guess I am just tired of people pushing pvp and old timey nostalgia instead of just making a fun good game that is worth the 100 bucks.
Okay okay, the Prismatic class combining multiple classes is awesome! And the new enemy type is amazing! But the thing that caught my attention the most was the new Exotic class items that COMBINE 2 random perks from other exotics?! That's insane! I cant wait to try all if this out!

I just pre-ordered on Friday, reworked my Warlock and Titan's armor. I do have some lingering questions which will have to be answered in time.
I hope that Prismatic doesn't just upgrade the grenade. Although I would be fine with that, but I hope it upgrades the melee as well.
This is a stretch, but I hope they upgrade the super and class ability when you go Transcendent.
