The West Wing is now streaming on Max.
Intense and dedicated presidential advisers get their personal lives hopelessly tangled up with professional duties as they try to conduct the business of running a country with fictional Democratic President Josiah "Jed" Bartlet.
Jed Bartlet as flawed as he was on the show, would still in the real world be the best president since Lincoln. We sure need someone in reality like him.
Decent man.
Jed is fictional.
@@user-xk9qu5vt3q yeah dude, no one misunderstood that
Well fdr
Harry S. Truman
Sometimes there are times when I forget, just for a second, how fantastic this show was.
For a second.
America can only dream about having a president like this!
You mean a thinking, articulate politician who isn't a sociopath and can speak in complete sentences? I'll be on the lookout.
We do dream of having a president like this.
Not all of us
I’d like to say we wish we could go back to having presidents like this, I’d like to think Kennedy, Carter, Bush 41, Reagan and probably Obama were like this
Would American voters vote for a person like Bartlett?
How I wish we could get a show of this caliber. Each time I see clips, I remember how great it was and how much I loved it.
Best show ever and even stands up especially in 2024!
If only it wasn't such fantasy
Reality could learn a thing or two from Sorkin
I hadn’t really caught that President Walken had his own presidential “what’s next” moment. That’s a nice touch.
Greatest show ever made! Bartlett's courage, determination and unwavering hope are an eternal inspiration.
I love and miss this show. Incredible writing, storylines, character development and 1 liners!! This was a great show!!
The only political show I have ever watched. And absolutely loved. Every time I watch it.
Should watch the newsroom. Not as long as this show was but still great
My late father said to me about WW, even though it was fantasy, he said it gave him hope about the country. We could use more of that now.
I absolutely love this show! Have watched in fully through, start to finish at least 2 dozen times. Besides watching specific episodes because of thoughts we had on the exact wording.
My family hates when I quote the show. Which is often… lol
The greatest show ever.... think I need to rewatch the series again for the... lost count... :P ... 'What's next?
Love this show
I loved this show. It was so awesome.
One of the most intelligently written TV dramas ever. A joy to watch.
Sorkin was genius
Lol, Sorkin writing is only "intelligent" sounding to people who are aren't.
My son in law watches The West Wing every Christmas, with no complaints from any of the family
You know you've got a good writer on your hands when people want the character you created to become President of the United States while overlooking who wrote the lines the character spoke.
Great series. Great writing.
What a fantastic piece of writing this show was! They don't write like this no more.
You need a strong moral compass to be a true leader.
Greatest president we never had.
This TV series (apologies I can't call it a show, because a show is one dimensional and fleeting) has FANTASTIC writing, internal dialogue that makes you rewind to ensure you capture exactly what was said, the ability to look at the world and hypothetical situations and present a case for what LEADERSHIP would look like. Based on a Democrat it portrayed the best and worst of both side of the aisle.
But in the end, it was all about the characters and how brilliantly the actors portrayed them. Their absolute trust, loyalty and belief that their colleague was a committed to doing their best.
Off the top of my head, Charlie defending CJ against the disrespectful kid. "I go to cosmos on Sunday"
Leo asking Ainsley, Is your dad proud of you!
Sam's speech he wrote after the pipe bombing at the university
Toby, crumbling up the piece of paper when Will writes his speech on the notepad.
But the absolute best moments in my opinion:
Leo to Josh, "a man who falls into a hole....... As long as I have a job, you have a job"
Toby to President Bartlett "I can only hope" after the death of the veteran In Excelsis Deo
Charlie getting the knife off the President, from the silversmith PR.
Josh and Sam protecting Leo once the opposition knew he was a drug addict. "I will bust you like a pinata"
President Bartlett "Mistaking this for a meeting of your ignorant tight ass club" "In this building when the President stands nobody sits" and then the look. Wow the look.
Bartlett calling Donna's ex teacher
I loved the female characters in this series. All characters were scared of getting on the wrong side of CJ. They all knew she had skills they didn't.
Joey had them all in the palm of her hand.
Ainsley was stunning but proved she was incredibly smart.
Leo's legal council stole his heart in his deposition.
Debbie replacing Mrs Landingham
Abigail, and her magnificent breasts (Lord Malbury)
I often tell the "man falls down the hole" story verbatim to people I love it so much.
watch it when ever i need a boost in the brain
"How should I deal with guilt?"
You're Catholic Mr. President. You pray for forgiveness and then ask, "What's next?"
We need to go back to moderation on both the Republican and Democrat parties these extremes are just ridiculous
The current Democrats are far from extreme. They are basically centrists, while the GOP has become radicals - overturning civil rights in place for 50 years, for example.
Agreed.
Josh's " What's Next " is my real-life story.
I think Sheen legit cracks up at 4:58 in response to “Be more like me.” There’s a walk and talk earlier in the series where Schiff also made him laugh. I think he had Sheen’s number.
America has changed since this show. The world sees it, feels it, even if Americans themselves don't.
7:43 What's next?
Well, a $34 trillion dollar national debt in 30 years, but that's all
Jed Bartlett was the best president, certainly since FDR and possibly since Lincoln, and he managed it despite facing the significant impediment of being entirely fictional
He is an actor not a president, a good actor!!
The red tape thing is one of those little annoying things they put in an otherwise great show to make people think all things came from America.
It began in 16th Century Spain and was even in David Copperfield, written over a decade before the civil war even began.
Red tape goes back to the Eastern Roman Empire. Only the Emperor could use it to bind official documents.
@davidweihe6052 no evidence evidence exists, only apocryphal wordings and muse.
Unless you're mistaking Eastern Roman with Holy Roman
Why, why, can't Martin Sheen or Michael Douglas run come November? Either of them would win by a landslide.
I never understood the logic of not having Bartletts final line in the series, as Abby asks him what he’s thinking, be “what’s next?”
Precisely because he WASN’T thinking about “what’s next”. He was finally free to think about what he wanted to do. What he was going to do tomorrow.
In today’s world Jeb would be considered too conservative.
YOU CAN'T FIRE CCH POUNDER!!!
Is he a good man? - Josh Lyman.
That was CJ who asked that.
No Josh asked Leo, when Leo asked him go to New Hampshire to hear Bartlett speak.
I wonder what he would make of the border crisis?
Just imagine how different the phrase, "What's next?" went over in tRump's White House. 😵💫
He seems more like "Crime, boy I dont know" kinda guy, a .22 caliber mind in a .357 magnum world if you catch my drift.
More like "What's next, and what's in it for ME?"
@@alexandermarquardt597 No, not really.
@@sabrewolf4129 it is a quote...you seem to be a 22 caliber....well...
The entire show is on Max…
You did, you had Obama..
I hate this!!! I was looking forward to seeing a new west wing show not jed Bartlett saying his most annoyingly repeated line "what's next" pathetic
You can watch any and all trash TV nowadays on all streaming platforms, but you can't watch the West Wing!? what is wrong with this world?
The whole series is on HBO Max. I’m watching it now again. I’m on season 3
