Thanks for all flashlight comparisons on your channel, they are highly professional. I was thinking about buying Astrolux FT02S but after watching this video I realised that there is almost no difference in comparison with my Astrolux EC03, so it wouldn't worth upgrading to FT02S.

  • @DrNJPhotography

Cheers for this, as ever very useful. Lovely powerful output. Any chance you'll be getting the SST40 and do a comparison, including the EC03 SST40? I get the impression the SST40 will be more general purpose/combination beam with more usable range and decent spill, even at the lesser 7000 lumens (which is respectable) and run cooler. Only a convincing video from you would make me pull the trigger! If the difference in performance between SST40 versions of FT02S and EC03 is as it is here for the XHP 50.2's then it's worth it. I complained about the beam pattern but in real world use it didn't bother me much.
    Happy New Year!

Thanks for another excellent review, really appreciate your thoroughness. I wish I'd been more careful in looking at reviews before I purchased this light. It's nice looking, and I was drawn to the quad emitter thrower design (I got the sst-40), and the 26650 capacity, but the beam artifacts kill it for me, even out in the field. They don't seem to show up so much on camera. It also seems to me that the spill wastes a ton of light that could be down range; the shallow parts of the reflector just don't shape the beam effectively. Almost all my lights are Emisar and Astrolux (love that Anduril), and of all of them this one is sitting on the bench. Now I'm looking forward to my EA01 arriving!

    • @FLASHAHOLIC_TV

Astrolux are great for the price but the beam and tint are often lacking. They are more reliable than Imalent, Fireflies and Lumintop and quarter of the price of Emisar. Thst little bit of fine tuning and Astrolux will be the dogs!!!

I have a question. If I get a battery that had a constant 50amp discharge, will it be brighter than a battery with a constant 30amp discharge? I know the voltage is what really makes the light brighter, but some batteries with the same voltage are less powerful than others. I would like to know how this works.

    • @FLASHAHOLIC_TV
      @FLASHAHOLIC_TV  Před 3 lety

It's the amp difference that makes the power on different 3.7V cells, at the moment around 35amps is the most from a 21700 you can get.

Thinking about Haikelite HK04 13000 lumens or new Sofirn SP36 Pro, but this Astrolux FT02S seems better than the SP36 in the video. Also, is Haikelite quality as good as Sofirn or Astrolux? Well the Sp36 is a great light but is too bulky, and floody, the Ft02s sst40 is more versatile and practical and more throwy, but have a rainbow effect in the beam, if you want a real budget king is the Astrolux Ft03 Xhp50.2 is a combination of throw and flood without the rainbow effect in the beam.

@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV , ...hey man, I have been watching a lot of your videos, ...keep up the good work!
...I have been looking around for a little while now, for a flashlight that has a very particular set of features, ...i'm kind of new to this hobby, ...and this whole market is kind of complicated out there, ...because there's a lot of places, and brands to search, and sift through...
...so, I figured that I should just stop making this hard on myself, ...and stop wasting any more of my time, ...and to just go on ahead and ask you, ...because you seem to know alot about all of these flashlights, ...a whole hell of a lot more than pretty much anybody else that I have seen out there so far, ...especially by the way that you test them all out in the same manner, because you always stick to that same format for all of your videos, ...because you know that consistency when testing, is the most important thing!!!
...and so, ...anyway, ...here is my question:
...what is, in your expert opinion, (if it even exists) ...would be the best, and highest quality, flashlight out there, ...that would have all, (or as many as possible) ...all of the following features, ...all contained within just one, compact, EDC flashlight?

      5.
...has the broadest range of built-in, customizable, different colors, of the whole spectrum? ...for example, it could produce the full spectrum of RGB, violet, purple, ultraviolet, and pretty much, have the capability to produce the full rainbow of all colors...
      6.
...has the ability to be able to adjust, alter, and calibrate the white balance, as well as the color temperature, ...each gradually, and completely independent, covering the entire kelvin color spectrum wavelength...
      7.
...has the ability to be able to adjust the brightness, intensity, and lumens of each separate RGB, color, hue, and color temperature, all independently, ...all nice, and even, on a gradual, and smooth scale...
      8.
...has the ability to be able to combine all of the different features mentioned above, ...all together, ...all simultaneously, ...and, all at once, ...because, this will grant the user an opportunity to instantly have access to a vast array of a complete arsenal, of limitless, unique, and infinite combinations of RGB, violet, purple, ultraviolet, a complete rainbow of colors, ...as well as, independent white balance, color temperature, and the kelvin color spectrum, ...all combined with independent brightness, intensity, and lumens adjustment capabilities, ...would make the total number of all the possible different visual options, ...seemingly endless!

Bought one of these - Sand coloured XHP50.2 5700K.. It's got quite a bad flicker (obviously not in lightning/candle modes, etc..).. Is this something you've experienced? I've tried three different batteries in it, two Samsung 40T 30A 21700 (which both work perfectly in my EC03) and one 26650 cell that came with my Wowtac A5 and it does the same thing with all of them, so it's not a battery issue.
You've clearly got lots of experience. Any thoughts? Just faulty?

      5.
...has the broadest range of built-in, customizable, different colors, of the whole spectrum? ...for example, it could produce the full spectrum of RGB, violet, purple, ultraviolet, and pretty much, have the capability to produce the full rainbow of all colors...
      6.
...has the ability to be able to adjust, alter, and calibrate the white balance, as well as the color temperature, ...each gradually, and completely independent, covering the entire kelvin color spectrum wavelength...
      7.
...has the ability to be able to adjust the brightness, intensity, and lumens of each separate RGB, color, hue, and color temperature, all independently, ...all nice, and even, on a gradual, and smooth scale...
      8.
...has the ability to be able to combine all of the different features mentioned above, ...all together, ...all simultaneously, ...and, all at once, ...because, this will grant the user an opportunity to instantly have access to a vast array of a complete arsenal, of limitless, unique, and infinite combinations of RGB, violet, purple, ultraviolet, a complete rainbow of colors, ...as well as, independent white balance, color temperature, and the kelvin color spectrum, ...all combined with independent brightness, intensity, and lumens adjustment capabilities, ...would make the total number of all the possible different visual options, ...seemingly endless!
