Just did it, I’m not your average swimmer so The 150 absolutely gassed me and so the last 50 and 2 mins of treading were brutal. Brick test was really easy. My advice is take the first 150 slow it’s not timed and if you attempt to keep up with other people you will be tired. Also when I was doing it one thing that helped me was telling myself to keep going your almost there over and over. In the end I got it but It wasn’t easy!
i just got done with lifeguard certification and we only did it the way it had 3 parts to it
That’s the way it’s been for a long time. Your instructor prob likes it better lol
Thats fucking awwwful
Certified lifeguard here.
It may or may not sound difficult, but if you already have the desire to be a lifeguard, you likely already meet the requirements needed to perform these tests.
In addition to these tests I took with my course, we had to perform tons of drills to retrieve a person from the water in different circumstances, one of which being them actively flailing anf looking for something to grab on to. We are trained to keep our distance, but for this exercise, the "drowning" person(trainer pretending to drown) had to grab on to us and we needed to escape from them underwater, which is so much scarier 😂😭
Oh yeah i remember this one and the one where they teach you how to throw someone off if you dont have any floatation. I remember my instructor said that if we had to do this we already failed and that if we ever did use it she would lose all respect for us
This makes the most sense. It's about time they changed it. Now get rid of the dumb rescue tube.
