Am I failing at slow living? Blood orange cake recipe

I am pretty sure that with all my good intentions for cultivating a slower and more simple life that I am muffing it up. Im trying to do two things at once you see. Im trying with all my might to live with peace and intention. Creating joy in my life, keeping the focus on family and leaning into mindful living. But I am also trying to “nurture/invest/beat out of me” my creative side. I really want to learn how to make peaceful videos, I guess in an attempt to create a slow living vlog of sorts, as well as get better at my photography. It feels like the two things should go hand in hand, but honestly? They don’t. Which is why I am left with the question “am I failing at slow living”
And then there is the question of people places and things. They can really stress someone’s equilibrium. Shake the bones. It’s one thing to have the ambition to live a slower quieter pace of life, but what if everything and everyone around you didn’t get the memo. Im sure as hell sure my family didn’t get it. They are as mental (said lovingly obvi) as ever. Family life, motherhood certainly, is wonderful and I genuinely believe I doll out the gratitude daily for my privilege of getting to be a mother. Whilst I believe myself to genuinely relish in it, I find it actually the hardest area of my life to approach calmly. That is because my son/husband/miniature schnauzer are categorically not calm.. and funnily enough, neither is the super market, the bank, the school, the PTA and every other bloody flora and fauna that wishes to affect my equilibrium with their thunderous needs.
Back to peaceful living. Im sort of getting it. Certainly pockets of it and so toady im going to share that with you. Im making @linda-lomelino bloody orange and cardamon cake and sharing a spot of peace full (if a little creepy) crafting.
