Joe has gone completely cold turkey on pedals and effects. I admire that. When you just have a guitar plugged straight into a vintage amp, with nothing more than some reverb, you are putting yourself out there. To stand there and just make the guitar bend to your will is a very tough thing to pull off. But with his talent, he makes it look easy. Great vid to show that.

When that happens, I will get a nice warm feeling knowing you're miserable. I have had many conversations on CZcams, never with such an asshole like you. That is amazing in and of itself. I have been around a LONG time and witnessed many great guitarists and been privileged to be in a few rehearsals over the years. I was backstage in 2015 with Joe's friend, Eric C , and I have to say that Joe Bonamassa is the best thing thats happened to the Blues for many years. The man is unique in style and will surely be up there in the Hall of Fame and go down as one of the top musicians of all time. No wonder BB King recognised Joe's talent when he wasn't even in his teens. The RAH gig a few days ago was stunning, simply stunning.

I am an amateur musician ( bass ) and I have followed Joe since about 2008 when I first heard him online.
What I can not understand is that I have musician friends that like the blues but don't respect Joe's talent.
For some reason his clean playing style turns them off.
What I love about Joe is ( as was previously commented ) he worked so tremendously hard for everything he has since he was a young boy.
He has overcome every obstacle to become a self-made star.
He has paid homage to all of his heroes and gives credit to those that lent him a hand along the way.
He deserves respect whether you love his style or not. He hasn't taken his fame for granted, he has built it brick by brick.
I see others doing advertisements for major brand products that, to me, haven't shown anywhere near as much heart or blood, sweat and tears as Joe has.
He can't change the color of his skin or where he was born, but he has definitely PAID HIS DUES.
I see him as single handedly doing as much to keep the blue alive as any other artist out there.
On top of that he is a kick-ass rock guitarist as well.
He has chosen to do versions of some of my favorite rock songs of all time that rarely if ever get airplay these days ( A New Day Yesterday - Jethro Tull ). This give me insight to what he loves and am so grateful for his renditions that are thoughtful and "soulful" and so respectful of the original artists emotional investment. He is true to and understands the original artists inspiration.
    Keep on playin' on Joe!

Ya know, some just don't get it! Before being critical, you have to watch Joe and study his body of work. This video is such a great example; Joe is above all a student of music and especially the guitar. You can literally bring up any style of music in a conversation, and he will just start ripping into a blistering example of that style like he's been playing that style for years. There is and never has been a guitar player with the passion he has for the art and craft for his instrument. I know of no other musician that has jammed live with more diverse styles of musicians. He's at home on any stage, no matter the genre. And he is able to tour like like he does because he just can't be away from it. Perfection can come from practice (and Joe is well beyond the 10,000 hour rule). With Joe, he breathes through his fingers. And you won't find many with Joe's talent coming up to you in a guitar shop or hardware store and talking to you like a regular guy. He's a first class guy, a proud nerd, and is the first to poke fun at himself. I encourage folks to watch his CZcams video on Nerdville, U.S.A. His prolific love for all things guitar is a hoot. He inspires me... and I play bass!! Lighten up folks.

He did give Gary a lot of credit in the past, to the point of hero worship I think but something happened, I don't know what exactly but I think Joe felt snubbed by him. Possibly a comment Gary made about Joe still learning his craft. Which in the interview came across as very matter-of-fact, and let's face it compared to Gary who of us isn't still learning. I'm not a fan at all of Bonamassa , and then i see that, and whouahhh , i'm impressed..
I wish he would just do more of this stuff , with world musicians ,, African , Indian , South American , natives , tabla players , sitar players , flute ,, bongos ,,, the whole package !!

I used to think that Joe tried to do to much and therefore distorted the best parts of some of his songs. Been changing my opinion lately because he just seems to be doing what he does. Liking him more and more over the last year.

If Joe were a object, he'd be a Swiss watch. He is so freaking precise. Does anyone else ever just close their eyes and listen for mistakes? His are few and I'm not sure they aren't on purpose.

Smokin' Joe Bonamassa said he "would not be the guitar player he is had it not been for Eric Clapton" (style). He began playing with his Dad at age 5. His Dad said Joe surpassed him when he was seven yrs old. He interviewed with J.Pauly at age thirteen. Began playing in public with a band at age eleven. He is a child prodigy. Joe is amazingly talented & a really all around cool, nice guy! I can only hope I can get the chance to see him and Beth Hart in concert! They make an awesome team! Joe has some very gifted & talented players in his band. He has played in some major famous places around the world & they love him! I love to hear & watch him play!
