P.S. yes, I know. I know. I know. I know. I know that "I didn't down stroke the whole thing bruh". I know. I'm a player that has always favored economy of movement and this song forces you to play like a caveman, so it is not exactly my comfort zone. I know.
What's interesting though - on the final day of filming, during our final take, I had an epiphany out of nowhere. In my exhausted state from filming this long frickin song over and over, I had the idea to leverage the weight of my arm in a way that allows me to get through the entire song only downstroking by allowing my hand to "bounce" off the bridge while palm muting.
Unfortunately, I really did not want to retake all 8 shots incorporating this technique - so we utilized that clip as much as we could. I am now much better at playing like a caveman. Enjoy the video.

Kinda cool to see this whole video game cover thing come full circle for me. Metallica was the first metal band that my dad introduced me to, did the same for video games. I got into the music, mixed it with my love of metal, then found yourself, James, and many others, and here we are with you guys covering Metallica. Funny how the world works!

@@SuspiciousTemmie Typically really great songs overshadow the covers for me, and it just makes me want to listen to the original. I'm guessing that's what makes it surprising how good this cover is, I could see myself listening to this cover despite how good the original is.

This song also inspired the doom theme
Master Of Puppets probably inspired DOOM's E1M1. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Most likely since Master of puppets pre dates the original Doom game.
Plenty of the original Doom's music has pretty clear metal and rock inspirations, but E1M1 At Doom's Gate is reportedly not taken from anything. Bobby Prince said the song was written prior to listening to heavy metal. It was meant to be a fairly generic rock riff, hence why people are able to attribute it to many different tracks including this one.
They definitely sound similar. A funnier one is the Duke Nukem theme. It was heavily "inspired" by Megadeth, which was really funny when Megadeth covered it.
I'd say "No Remorse" sounds a bit more like E1M1

Its been nearly 20 yearsa since I first heard master of puppets. I remember clearly how at first I was confused about how aggresive the song felt, but then the melodic solo hits, and that right there was the moment I realized I loved metal. Now im about to turn 30, and still loving it. Amazing covers, captures the feeling of the original and improves on it. Amazing

Only real ones know that the best Master of Puppets ever played was S & M orchestral version, undisputed best. The original was surpassed many times by many artists, the orchestra gives it that OOMPH it lacked
@@seabass819 It's a great cover. But the song is perfect as is. I do agree, though, that with more advanced sound equipment, the mix and clarity of sound on this video is better, and more powerful than the studio version.
This one has better instrumentals I would say, and cleaner sound. Though I would say that the cadence and timing of the vocals fits better in the original.
TECHNICALLY.... this is also a DOOM theme cover lol. I think those solos might actually inspire me to practice scales on my acoustic, get lessons, and upgrade to an electric. That's how fucking amazing this cover was. Straight inspirational!

It makes me sad to think that some people will only discover Metallica through Stranger Things but then again... it is nice too. Such amazing music being found again by a new generation. I grew up on this as tapes from my mom that she stole from a music store in the late 80s XD (also don't to that, I just find it funny since she taught me to not steal but admitts that). I even have an official Master of Puppets shirt from my mom when she went to he concert. This song and the band means so much to me. Richaad and LittleVMills; this was nostalgic and AMAZING. 👏 👏 Hats off to you guys.

Back when i was 12 my dad introduced me to Metallica one day as he was driving me to school. Ive been hooked ever since. Im 24 soon to be 25 in a few months and master of puppets and a few others in Metallicas roster are still my favorite songs to listen to!
