We got this tent and are blown away by everything it offers. It was so easy to put up and easy to take down. It's marvel to see the tent get built. It seems underwhelming at first but then you put on the rest of the poles and you begin to see how well designed the tent is.
The first thing my wife said go me when we got in... "I'm actually excited to go camping now..."

Thanks for the review. I purchased one for tent camping on my Goldwing motorcycle with my pull behind trailer. Very simple setup. Two points to make is on the x poles you will make sure the cross bracket is installed with the open cup end facing down. And when installing the rain fly before you put the corner clips down 1/2 way up where the red guy out loops are there is Velcro loops that should be wrapped around the poles on the inside of the fly. These help steady the fly and poles should a wind storm occurs. Then when you guy out the mid section the guys support the frame. These should always be guyed out and staked if possible. It’s a big tent and lots wind surface.

I own an MSR Elixir 3 (2017) and I've been using it for mountaineering here in the Philippines which always rains. It is still in good condition in 2022. I am thinking of buying one for my family since we also want a stand-in tent with enough room. Thank you for this review!

I just broke down and bought the habitude 6. Your video was very informative and helped me make the decision. We previously had a kingdom 6 with garage (we had it for years and served us well on many cross country trips)- but it didn't survive the 25mph winds in Oklahoma a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to taking this shiny new MSR out for a trial weekend before we head out across the country again in a couple months. I am still concerned on how well the MSR habitude will do in windy conditions, but it appears a bit more streamlined than the Kingdom 6. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :) Thanks again for a great and informative video-

@@JourneyontheTrail I love it. Easy to put up. We (family of four) used it for about 4 weeks last year from the Badlands to Yellowstone to Mesa Verde and everywhere else in between. Three season weather and it was solid. We did get one tiny hole in the floor (and we used a footprint) but I equate that to the rocky surface we were camped on and my squirmy daughter and her cot (the legs). I love this tent.

Great review! I’ve been looking for a spacious tent for long outings, I’ve been hesitant to buy something like this as I do a lot of winter camping and I’m not sure it’ll handle the wind.
After watching this review, I did a google search and found this at REI for $323.00 and just went for it. Pick it up today, I’ll use it next weekend and see how it goes.

  • @jasonfritz2846

I actually don’t think that it is unreasonably priced for that size and quality of tent. You only have to be caught in a thunderstorm once to know that you get what you pay for when it comes to tents. For the record, never skip adding the footprint, it just protects your investment even longer.

  • @0verfiend

    Nice tent.
Next iteration: Include the footprint so we can fast and light it without paying more. Big tents can be hangouts if the floor is gone. Get double doors. Maybe a slightly smaller vestibule if two are there. Anyways, two vestibules make these big tents much better aero wise. And magnets for the door clasps. And the green fly on the website is nice. Blue is nice too. Maybe multiple fly fabric or color choices. And an extra pole and sleeve for repairs.
    Cheers.

    The floor looks really weak
I use cots and generally out additional tarp under the feet.
Is that fabric strong enough for cot use for real??
I recently switched to the Helinox cot from the REI cot which had bigger feet...

    • @halliestephen-castro4828
      @halliestephen-castro4828 Před 2 lety

We have the Habitude 6 and used it four our family of 4- two helinox
Cots and two cheaper alps engineering cots. We used a footprint with our tent but we did get a little hole in the floor about the size of a pencil eraser. We were camping on a rocky surface and it was the Alps cots (in combination with squiggly kids) that caused it. Easy fix with the repair kit. Lesson learned on our part. We use little feet or pool noodles under the wire framed cots now. Other than that- the tent has been fantastic.
