Made your Ambrosia cake yesterday for a dinner party. It was the hit of the evening. Served it with a dollop of whip cream and a fresh slice of orange trimmed of the leftover pith. Thank you for the recipe. Delightful.
Cakes that you can make without a mixer that are moist and have a nice crumb are the cakes I love. Boiling water is a miracle ingredient for cakes. My favorite chocolate cake recipe is a "back of the tin" boiling water recipe. An orange version sounds splendid.
Riktigt gofika! It looked so pretty! Think I used to have fresh orange juice in the glacing for extra flavour and colour. Have I considered making vaniljhjärtan?
This is one of my favorite Swedish baking recipes (I've always used Magnus Nilsson's). Always associate it more with springtime but now I want to make it for christmas. Yours looks so beautiful with the candied peel. I usually put pistachios or flaked almonds as a decoration instead which probably isn't that authentic.
Remember ambrosikaka is not a t-shirt. Brought such a cake after i fucked up during my military service but off course fucked up again storing the cake during a locker inspection. Good cake though and might have see what i need to restock to be able to make one.
@@reallivebluescat Oh, it was lovely! The orange flavor was very strong. I made the cake square shape and I didn't put frosting on the top, because I thought it would be overly sweet for my taste.
The leftover candied peel would also be really yummy in Scottish shortbread. ❤

Yummy! 🥰❤
As a Swede, I have to say your pronunciation has become so good. Keep going.

congratulations on finally getting this cake to work on video. I'll have to try it.
So beautiful you made it!! And I’ve never seen anyone make so nice diamonds of the peel, and only with the bought dried peel. So nice idea!!
Beautiful cake. I better get to baking as all your recipes look amazing. I’m always learning something new, what a treat!
This looks amazing, thank you for sharing, Cecilia!
This looks terrific! Thank you!

Can I use warmed orange juice instead of the boiling water in the cake? 🙂 I'm going to make this tomorrow.
Yes! But then make sure your butter and eggs are room temp 😊
@@ceciliatolone Thank you! I'll take them out of the fridge tonight 🥰
How did it go?
