I'm pretty experienced with pugs, so I'm gonna say this. It has good behavior and it is always friendy, perfect dog if you have kids. One very big problem is that pugs are not healthy in general. They tend to have a lot of problems with health. I would not reccomend this dog for unexperienced people, yet, if you really want it, you can get it and just be very careful with how you feed it, how much you take it for a walk and generally its health. You should be going to the vet every month and have him also on a speed dial in case you see that the pug is acting weird.
Amazing dog, but you have to be extremely careful with its health.

I would agree with that. My pug health expenses have been huge over his life time through health related issues and allergies. They take a lot attention and grooming to keep them healthy and then there is always something. Lively characters but just so prone to issues I would recommend a different dog breed.

My first dog was a toy poodle that my parents bought when I was 11. We did not socialize him well so he ended up being scared and angry at everything. He loved my mom, tolerated me, and hated everyone else.

We had a Fox Terrier. She was so protective of us. Such a good dog. White with black spots, with black and brown marble on her face. Slept in my bed as a puppy, but wanted her space as an adult. She always ran beside my bike as I ran up and down the road visiting friends. Protected me from local neighboring dogs. Would walk us to the bus every morning and be there when we got off in the afternoon. The best dog EVAR.

Our family has had a Rottweiler, Lab, and English Staffordshire Bull Terrier. My mum bred our English Staffordshire and my first dog was a puppy from that litter. I had her for a couple years but it soon became apparent that she was not a good match for a first time dog owner. She needed way more exercise than a daily run and as a High school student I was barely able to do that.
After a few years of trying to make it work we adopted her out to the couple who adopted her twin brother (they were born in the same sack). She’s much happier now.
But after she left I still wanted a dog to give a forever home to. So I started researching. I took three months to narrow it down to three breeds. Firstly, because of my lack of exercise and going out to college soon I knew that it would be best to get a small breed dog. The three I narrowed down to was the Papillon, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and the Yorkshire Terrier. I couldn’t decide so I began looking for one of those breeds at local shelters and rehoming Facebook pages. I remembered my friend had adopted a Yorkie and I messaged her asking about her breeder. She said she didn’t have contact info about the breeder as she was a second owner but she was no longer able to care for her Yorkie because she was going off to college. I met Rocky the next day and took him home for a weekend to do a trial run. It soon became apparent that we were meant to be together. So I adopted him.
She had said since I’ll be leaving for college in a year or two that if I need to rehome him to let her know. I was very adamant that by adopting him I was planning on being his forever home. That no matter what I would make it work. At three years old I was his third owner. I was also his last owner.
Two years after I adopted him I went to college. He became my ESA but the way the apartment I lived in had it set up they refused him for that first semester. My Mum took care of him during that time and then afterwards I found college wasn’t for me and went home. A year later Rocky welcomed my husband into our little family. Six months after we were married and Rocky had passed away in the middle of the night. We never found out what happened.
Two to three months later we brought home a Yorkie pup we call Eya and now she will be one in a few weeks. We adore her! We will always have Yorkies now!

Breah Wright Hey girlfriend, one Yorkie lover to another, aren’t they the best?? You know it!!!
My Punky (Prince on paper) was my 2.5 lb Yorkie and I loved him with all of my heart. I don’t know why he was so small because I met both his parents and they weren’t real small but dad was a lot smaller than mom. I remember picking him out of three 7 week old puppies and knew I wanted him. His cute tiny ears stood straight up and he came over to me right away. I remember thinking that they all look exactly alike but when I picked them up individually and held each one in my hands on their back you could see differences in all three. One of his brothers reminded me of a bear cub because he had a lot of hair and it was THICK. LOL. My Punky didn’t have as much hair and it was sparse behind his ears and he was definitely smaller than his brothers, maybe the runt? Anyways I picked him but he was not old enough to take away from mom yet. Bella and Sir Oliver were his parents names.
Punky only grew to 2.5 labs but was perfectly healthy. When I first brought him home my boyfriend that bought him for me said “That is the smallest dog I have ever seen in my whole life”.
His hair grew out to be so soft and silky. He was beautiful, funny, playful and loving. He absolutely loved his walks and car rides but it turned out that he got car sick or motion sick. The reason I say that is because I could tell by his panting, yawning (I learned these behaviors are anxiety) and trying to keep his head out of the window that he didn’t feel good. I also bought an expensive Vera Bradley cloth dog carrier that was over 100.00 off of eBay because she doesn’t make them anymore and only used it one time to sneak him into a store and he threw up. So I figured it had to be motion sickness. Well that bag turned into a storage container for some of his clothes. I dressed him because he was so cold most of the time. I also had 3 low temp heating pads strategically placed throughout the house so he could be warm.
He made me so happy and other people too. Kids would always want to pet him and he would go running up to them for a pet. Everyone always thought he was a puppy.
Anyways I am writing a book here and didn’t mean to but I wanted to let you know that I 💯 % agree with you regarding Yorkies. There is nothing like the unconditional love of a Yorkie.
Hey Breah, I want to ask you a question. But I need to give you some background and will keep it short.
Something tragic happened in my life and I had to be away from my Punky and it could have been a long time in a dogs life so I had a good couple take him and decided for Punky’s own sake to give him to them. I was afraid that they would take the best care of him if he was their baby. It has been 2 years and I still cry over him as I am now but that was the most unselfish decision I have ever made. 😢
My question to you is when the time is right, do you love any Yorkies after Rocky as much as you loved him?
Thanks Breah , and I wish you the best life filled with love from a Yorkshire Terrier!!! 👍🐾😊

At last someone has sensibly selected the Papillon as a good small dog breed for people who live mainly in houses with small backyards or apartments. These dogs do not bark a lot and make very good watch dogs unlike the Pomeranian and some of the smaller terriers, who have been known to yap constantly, therefore you should get no complaints from your neighbours. They are not hard to care for as there coat even though it is long only needs to be combed or brushed every day or so. They are a happy dog but have one problem they think they are the size of a Rottweiller. They also get on well with cats. They are also quite long lived, a friend had one who lived until she was 21 years old age

      @elainepearson4817 Před 4 lety

@@mayflowers8942 Hi, A friend of mine used to breed Papillons. For memory the ones she bred didnt have any major health problems. Their coat, albeit long is not hard to look after, it is soft but as long as u brush it or comb it every few days keeps it in good nick, bath once a month (they resemble a drowned rat when wet) BUT do not let it out into the garden until it is dry otherwise the little darling will roll in the nearest dirt, muddy patch etc., and therefore it will be bath time again, pretty they maybe to look at but they are all dog and will get up to mischeif like all breeds of dog - you are not buying a toy this is a real dog, they can be feisty and very active but if they bit u you wouldn't feel it because their mouth is quite small but I was never bitten by one of her dogs more likely I would be licked to death before being bitten. For all their size it is best to leave them outside at night (unless your me when I visited the dog(s) they stayed inside with me curled up on the bed) because it improves their coat (unless u live where it snows definitely far too cold for it outside even in a suitable kennel). They do not bark insesently which makes them a good watch dog (but as I said earlier they think they are the size of a Rottweiler). A show quality dog is not cheap so look for one that is rejected for showing because of some defect - not health but like one she had Rastas had a kink in the end of his tail, they are cheaper. Overall they are happy, pretty little dogs who get on with people, some dogs and cats and don't cost a lot to feed. They are also very loyal and they are long livers.
      Hope this helps.

I’m thinking about getting a second dog. I already have a dog, a sweet tempered chi weenie who is fairly low energy, and a good fit for my family, but she would be happier with a playmate, since she’s home alone a lot. I’m probably gonna rescue (our chi weenie is a rescue. We didn’t buy her.) considering a King Charles Cavalier, but that might cost a lot and they have some health issues (their skull is too small) so just gonna look for the sweetest, most low energy, relatively young, small extrovert dog at the shelter, have it meet my current dog and play it by ear. Wish me luck!

Aww, cute doggies. My first doggy was actually, the number 1 on this list. He was a Teacup Toy Poodle. His name was Candy and his birthday was in Valentine’s Day. My parents bought him for me because, I really wanted a sheep. I have an Uncle (daddy’s youngest brother) who owns a type of mini ranch. He used to have a bunch of sheeps many years ago.
My family and I went to visit him. I was like 7 and I fell in love with a baby sheep. He was the cutest thing I ever saw. I also felt sorry for him because, his mom didn’t love him. She didn’t care about him. My uncle told us that he had no idea why but, out of all the baby sheep she had... she only didn’t like that one. She refused to feed him and would either, just ignore him or kick him.
Of course, I wanted to take care of him and bring him back to our place. But, my parents didn’t let me. They said a sheep wouldn’t make a good city house pet. So they bought me a Teacup Toy Poodle. The Toy Poodle kinda does resemble a baby sheep. So we were all happy with the new addition to our family.

boomsaway3 I’m not sure. I think that my uncle probably sold it to a rancher/farmer. He used to have a lot of animals and would sell them. I remember that he had: sheeps, bulls and donkeys.

I've never had a dog and I'd like to have a puppy I can cope with, but my husband insists on buying a beagle,a boy. He just fell in love with this breed. The thing is,he often travels for business and I will have to look after it by myself,of course our daughter will help, but she's only 7. ok,I'll try to persuade him on cavalier,but...
Could you advice what to read, watch, something about dogs training. not a short version, some self-tutor books or something like that? It would be better to get prepared for a new friend at home. thank you in advance.

6.20 - 6.26 those aren’t Cavaliers in that clip. They are English Cocker spaniels. The rest of the film about Cavaliers does show Cavies.
That aside Cavaliers are the best breed. I had one as a child and they are loving and friendly.❤️

my first dog was a blue heler, beagle mix. I ended up being the one to raise and train her, she was easy to teach, but she was never really socialized, so she would bark and growl at other dogs she didn't know or other people she never met, she would be okay with them after a good 10 to 15 minutes of smelling them tho. She was good at not going to the bathroom in the house. My sister took her when she moved out since we were looking for an apartment and she wouldn't do well there. I miss her a lot but im looking or anew dog breed, any recommendations? Im a teen in my last year of high school, looking fora breed that doesn't need a lot of exercise and can do well on its own if im out for school.(8 hours total, but there is usually one person home every day and if not its for 3 hours max)

Isabella, my first dog was a Doodle a dacshund/ poodle mix and he was a gem.
I called him a short dacshund and a long poodle and he didn't get any back problems because he wasn't the standard dacshund length. He had the poodle wool and dacshund markings but in a brown and grey colour not the standard dacshund colours but structurally he was more dacshund to look at. He had the brains of a poodle but the temperament of a dacshund more mellow with occasional spurts of silliness and also he had a long life he lived until he was 14. The good thing about him was he didn't bark as much as some smaller dogs but his bark was deceptive, it was very deep and people thought he was a much much larger dog which put off would-be burglars, in fact, they robbed my neighbours and left my place alone. With all the designer dogs these days I am surprised no one has thought to crossed these 2 dogs because they make great pets. My cross was a mistake friends had a dacshund who got together with the neighbour's poodle so I was lucky to get one.
