    Thanks for taking the time to document and share this. I'm halfway through a carport engine swap on a 2011 Cruze that overheated, blew the head-gasket, and warped the block. I took the engine and transmission out together so I can swap the transmission to the new engine, and then drop the two back in the car as one piece. This strategy works really well if you have to do this job without a lift + fully equipped shop.

    Love the short and sweet 10 minute video. Gave me the general direction I needed to take. I’m so happy you can just unbolt the rack and sway bar from the cradle and drop it. I was flabbergasted that I couldn’t take it out the top when this pays 9.7 hours. I guess it’s easier then it looks. Appreciate your time man. 👍🏻

    Great video, my dude.
    I just did a r&r on a 13, 1.8 .
    I pull the whole drivetrain assembly, takes about 3 hours (removal!) max on the ground, using a load leveler with cherry picker.
    I don't even mess with the cradle, only strut spindle bolts to remove cv joints.
    I've done a lot of these, very easy to work on.

    Just did a 2012 Chevy Cruze engine . Went up and out with engine and transmission. Put transmission and any other good parts on new engine. CHECK HARNESS AT AC COMPRESSOR! New engine came with harness. Everything was the same except the ac compressor needs 2 plugs and harness only had 1 so we had to swap harness after we already dropped in car. Still wasn’t to bad but had a lift when needed under it. Took us 10 hrs to do swap. But was first time pulling a engine and transmission

    • @CarMechaNick
      @CarMechaNick  Před 4 lety +1

      That's awesome. I always use the engine that came with the car. Assuming it is in good condition. Sometimes these motors from salvage yards come from different years or other models when they can. So it's best to use the original harness from the car.

    wOW! This is one best video! Job made easy! Tell me, a friend of mine has 2012 Cruze but after his transmission (clutch plate) was recently changed, the car doesn't crank/start. He told me he has to kick/push-start it daily. Could it be that the guy who changed or worked on the transmission interfered with starter solenoid perhaps?

    Hey my guy you seem like you did that was so much ease and confidence. I know you must be a professional. Just a quick question. I know that's not I Wrong a right answer. But for some time I car seems to not be pulling with a lot of power. Now a year later. I got these codes PO700 and p 0 0 16 Looking it up. They say it's related to the solenoid in the transmission. Or the crankshaft sensor or exhaust sensor and my card now. Sometimes it has slipped reverse gear. But then it jumps back in. And it will go into every gear. But I can tell the power is not there. What I really need to look into. The solenoids and the sensors I would that maybe a whole transmission problem. Sir Please answer me. Thanks in advance.

    The only good thing about the Cruze is that it's common enough to find how-to videos on pretty much anything in them (because they break all the time). I was already having issues with the damn thing when the driver-side window regulator failed. Thankfully it proved to be easy to fix by myself. It only has 70,000 miles on it and I already had to have the engine rebuilt due to coolant leaking into the cylinders. That happened at 60,000 miles FYI. Thankfully I got an extended warranty on the powertrain so it didn't cost me anything.

      Guys, plenty on these 6T35/40/45 and even the 6T70 series on the web (see Gary Ferraro posts). The wave plate in 3,5,R drum breaks and takes out the circlip. First sign is no reverse and 3, 5 shift issues. Sonnax has a drum saver kit that prevents this happening again as the GM updated wave plate breaks as well. I would make sure I have the Sonnax drum saver kit installed at rebuild, otherwise you are just waiting for the same thing to happen again. If you keep driving with it broken, it can get very expensive pretty quickly. I am in the middle of doing one right now.

Then the ignition wire the smaller will have voltage when key is cranking. Use jumper cables to make see the block is grounded to chassis. Does the starter make any noise when you try to crank?

      Car MechaNick well all the bolts we took off we put back on. I feel like the car isn’t in park because when we shift down it skips reverse.

    I would say it will be much better to take out all the power unit up, take apart the transmission and put the new one in, and 0ut it all back...
