    First of all, thanks for your time and dedication to this job and sharing your experience to point us in the right direction with our transmission problems. My transmission recently went out. Started with hard shifting and recently completely stopped moving in either direction. Check engine light came on, pulled codes, several referring to the solenoids, etc. Did you receive any particular codes prior to your repair?

    I changed my TCM and valve body without having to take out the radiator and radiator fan etc. I just took out the battery and the battery box and with faith and elbow grease, turned the transmission valve cover and pulled it out. This way is less unscrewing etc.

    Hello my friend, I have the same car and it has a problem only between the fourth and fifth gear. You feel a strong knock. After removing the gearbox, I found the discs broken and I changed them completely, and on the computer there is no error. Where do you think the problem is? I expect it to be the gearbox valves. If not, please reply. Thank you.

    Thank you very much for sharing this excellent video. I have Holden captiva which is having the same transmission. It move foreword but not to reverse. When the rpm above 2500, it tries to move but not. What could be the cause for it? I’m going to change the ATF first.

    • @btdgarage
      @btdgarage  Před rokem +1

      Hi Ajith! Your transmission seems to be low on fluid pressure. Try checking for leaks and change the ATF fluid first. There’s a number of things that may cause your problem. If changing the fluid wouldn’t solve the issue, it’s best to bring your transmission to a professional for a complete inspection

Still the problem is same. I notice that there is a Creek noise in N and R position. But when I shift to D, noise is disappear and move forward well.

    What was the reason for you taking it apart? I have a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz LTZ 1.4 L turbo and it’s a service vehicle and it’s been going into reverse real hard and then acting like it’s taking off and second or third gear, you can turn it off and restart it and it will work fine, but it does this nearly every day here lately and I’m thinking it’s not getting good communication from the TCM either the TCM is bad or there’s a problem in the harness or open circuit

    Hi mate. What causes the metal shavings? I have 6t40 auto trans with only first gear. Won’t shift to 2nd 3rd etc & no reverse. I have metal shavings in the valve body/solenoid area just like in this vid. Is something broken on the inside?

    • @btdgarage
      @btdgarage  Před rokem +1

      Fine shavings is normal wear from steels & clutches/clutch material. However, if you notice bigger chunks of metal you’ll need to take apart the whole transmission for further inspection. Also, if you ever see plastic chunks in there, that must be the plastic chain cover / oil baffle which usually breaks on these transmissions, you’ll also need to take it apart in this case.

    • @btdgarage
      @btdgarage  Před 2 lety +2

      It’ll be a bit tight but yes you can if you only need the solenoid pack. I’d advise against it though if you want to remove the whole valve body as you’ll have a hard time aligning it upon reassembly :)
