  • On the 29th June of this year, stop motion magician, Ray Harryhausen would have celebrated his 100th Birthday. Having admired Ray's work from an early age and it's huge impact on my life growing up, I thought it would be fitting to dedicate a short film to his legacy. It's been a real learning curve and I'm happy to show it on this landmark day of Ray Harryhausen's Centenary. I hope you enjoy it!

      @animateangus  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! That was one of the more technical shots, which involved three separate moving elements. The Dino and Cyclops were animated separately and then synced up. The pillar was a high speed miniature, which was shot before animation, in order to sync the movements with the falling sections.

    This is so GOOD! I can practically feel the love that was put into this. Im still pretty young and I have always really been into Harryhausen movies. I watched them SO much as a kid and I still watch them to this day. In fact, I have...literally every single movie he worked on. This was such an amazing video you made! My favorite Ray monster may be the unpopular vote but it's the rhedosaurus. It's not the best movie he was a part of but it is my favorite monster because no joke HIS MONSTER WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR GODZILLA! I also loved Godzilla as a kid. Im pretty sure you can buy almost all of his movies here on CZcams for pretty cheap.

I know it's hard cause of lockdown and I do understand that you didnt have alot of time and material. And because of that it just makes it even greater! Thanks for making this!

    Really love the movements and design of the monsters, they looks alike Ray Harryhausen's puppets
    But in my opinion, it will be better animation if the human character/you wasn't on the video...GOOD WORKS!

      I admit, I’m not an actor but having the actor in the film gave the film a narrative and I also wanted to pay tribute to Ray’s ‘Dynamation’ process, which combined stop motion with live action.
