    Greetings! That is quite true--once you go anamorphic, any 16x9 images won't fill the screen. This solution truly is the best of both worlds! I lose no picture quality and no light from the projector at all.

    Greetings! I have the Lumagen Radiance right before the projector in the signal chain. I connect the Oppo to Input 1 on the Lumagen, and I connect everything else to the Integra, which I then connect the Integra to Input 2 on the Lumagen. Not much processing happens with the Oppo becasue I don't own any DVDs, but in the rare instance where I do see a DVD that somebody brings over, the Lumagen works its magic!

    Greetings! You can set the Aspect Ratio to either of those if you desire. The Lumagen does the math, so whatever aspect ratio you select will be properly conveyed. Scale Bias can be on or off--it's a personal preference thing.

    So... this setup mean that you have the projector set up to constantly project to the full 2.35:1 width i.e. the projector is zoomed out so the black bars are above and below the 2.35:1 screen. And then when in 2.35:1 mode the lumagen doesn't have to do anything to the 2.35 video sent to projector (like as if it wasn't there) and in 16:9 mode it is basically scaling down the full 16:9 image so it fits in middle of 2.35:1 rectangle. Doesn't this mean you are not getting full 16:9 resolution?

      @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf Před 2 lety +1

      yup so ur constantly losing light. I'd rather use lens memory than constantly lose light for 16:9.

    Yes it will work for both 3D and gaming. I have used in both COD: Black Ops snd Crysis 2. This is definitely the Mini 3D.

  • @BrolicBeast
    @BrolicBeast  Před 11 lety

    Scale Bias can be on or off. It's best to turn it off if most of your sources match the projector's resolution (1080p blu ray-1080p source) but if you watch a lot of, say, TV at 720p or 1080i, then I'd suggest turning it on.

  • @BrolicBeast

    It is certainly possible. For this, you don't have to do anything but do two steps even at factory settings: 1) Press the 2.35 button, and 2) click NLS. The Lumagen will stretch the picture. It's only obvious if you're looking for it, or watching very familiar material like a favorite movie. ((the brain gets used to seeing things a certain way) Even then, it's only subtle.

  • @BrolicBeast
    @BrolicBeast  Před 12 lety

    This is the Logitech Harmony 1100, but this will work with any Universal remote that's programmable. It also, of course, works with the remote that Lumagen includes.

    I am planning to get the DVDO VP50 (much cheaper choice for me right now) I was wondering if it will haev the same features as the lumagen. It does mention that it does CIS and NLS and it also does electronic masking. just wondering if it will be like this...

    Great Vid. Pretty sure Avatar was shown in cinemas 16:9 IMAX though.
    Does the Non Linear Stretch work the same on a Lumagen HDQ?
    Thanks.

  • @BrolicBeast
    @BrolicBeast  Před 12 lety

    Using the Calman, you could definitely just calibrate the Lumagen. It's calibration potential is far greater than that of the RS45 itself.

  • @BrolicBeast
    @BrolicBeast  Před 11 lety

    You would input 240 instead of 235 in the lumagen's output menu

    on 4:07 its automatically preselected depending what selection you make from remote, when you'll be watching movie and in remote select 2.35 it will be selected in that menu here as well, so you a bit wrong by saying "do not set 2.35" you actually cannot preselect from that menu it is showing currently selected input, but you'll have to switch bias off for 16:9 and 2.35:1

    Can u stretch just the top and bottom on a 2.35.1 movie with this lumagen then use a anamorphic lens to correct the image

  • @judochopthefed
    @judochopthefed Před 10 lety

    Damn you just gave me hope. So you're saying this lumagen can work with any type of projector? I have an epson 8350. Would I be able to project it on 2:35:1 aspect off this native 16:9 1080p projector without and loss of picture quality?. Also, I did research getting something like this ranges anywhere from 1500-3000 depending on model. What would stop me from just upgrading this to a capable projector. I know my projector is pretty dated and there are better pj now. However getting will I also be able to view video 3d as well? Thanks for posting your video.

    @MrEpaulino26 Před 12 lety

    Thanks for the reply. I saw in the video that you mention that you where going to calibrate the lumagen and your projector. I was wondering how will you do it because i live in the dominican republic and over here we don't have ISF calibrator so i was looking at some calibration softwares and one that caught my eye was the Calman automated calibration software. With both the Lumagen And JVS RS45 that software can do the calibration automatically since i don't know much about calibration.

  • @MrEpaulino26

    BrolicBeast
    how did you connect the Lumagen radiance. I saw in other videos that you have a Integra Processor, Oppo 95, xbox ,ps3 and your cable tv box. Do you connect everything to the Integra processor then you connect to the Lumagen Radiance and then to the projector? if thats the case do you let the Oppo 95 do everything like up-convert or deinterlace DvD's or do you set the Oppo 95 to pass-through so the Lumagen Radiance do all the work. Sorry for all the rookie questions.

  • @MrEpaulino26
    @MrEpaulino26 Před 12 lety

    hey BrolicBeast
    that was pretty cool. I was planning to get a anamorphic lens for the projector i'm saving to getto play 2.35 on a 2.35 screen but i was reading that when i watch 16:9 content I have to remove the lens and the picture won't fill the whole screen. That i have to Mask the sides of the screen and that would cost me more. With your set up i see that a can save money and get the best of everything. Do you lose any picture quality or lose any light from the projector?

    I have a RS6710 on order and I am planning to hookup a radiance mini3d int he chain to project to my 120" SI BD 1.4 screen. Are you available on any kind of messenger to help a noob out on how to have the lumagen scale any kind of output to fill the full 2.35 screen?
    Video Sources will be Oppo BDP-103D, HTPC, PS3
    Reciever is a Denon AVR-X4000.
    Great video but I am pulling my hair out confused as to how to get all this setup.

    Will this device get rid of the black bars when zooming, or do you still get overspill of the black bars, or as asked by Rob Mclaine, Will doing this also eliminate the black bar over spill that you get when zooming, or do you still get overspill of the black bars?

  • @judochopthefed
    @judochopthefed Před 10 lety

    Is this worth getting to use with an epson 8350? Contemplating an upgrade however if this is the way to go as far as getting 2:35:1. Only issue I have with my projector is the fast motion blur it has. Your opinion would be appreciated on the performance of this video processor

  • @MrEpaulino26

    With NLS stretching the 16:9 content onto 2.35:1 screen you loos 12% of information from top and bottom and it is clearly seen in your video, its not perfect solution but acceptable at many cases.

      @Wicked_He_Bad Před 10 měsíci +1

      Not with a anamorphic lens im useing one now to stretch all my 16:9 content no loss in picture is a pure stretch and doesn't look bad looks cool

    Hi, am trying to get this to work for me (just bought a second hand luminance processor but though I follow the steps, once saved it still doesn’t switch between aspect ratios, it stays on the now reduced 16:9. How do you have it set up before beginning the steps? Is your projector zoomed out for 2:35 video? Thanks

    • @edthompson9851
      @edthompson9851 Před 2 lety

      I’ve now managed to get it working though not fully sure on the reason. If I tried it after a factory reset the steps don’t work but if I load previous settings (presumably from the previous owner) the steps now work. Maybe it recalls a newer version of the software?! Anyway, thanks for your useful guide :-)

So what your saying here is I should set 235:1 to 240:1?

I can believe you can do this with no information loss at all it seems impossible! So can you just clear up 1 question? you DO NOT have a panaromic lens with this right?
