    Fork gattors definitely add to the blacked olut look along with the levers and mirrors, great job. I've had short and long mudguards and now go for practicality over look as I ride all year and theres nothing worse than a short mudguard in the wet for getting your engine dirty and a face full of road water 😄 looking forward to seeing it running

    The reason the mirror threads are the way they are is pedestrians. When you hit one with a mirror it will loosen instead of impaling them and moving your handlebar. Of course that applies to filtering between cars as well.

    The origional front guard is probably less likely to throw mud and grit in your direction, so too all over that engine. I would stick with that myself, because as you mentioned it has the fork brace for the added stability factor. Whilst it maintains a road cruiser styling without detracting from the other modifications, actually it enhances that look instead. Nice work, though I must say you're progressing along quite well on your way to building a unique looking custom Meteor. :)

      @@GlynOC I’m really liking the visual effects of your build, but the front fender bracing is the only point of concern I’ve seen so far. I’ve had similar issues with builds in the past, so this is why I mentioned it. I still think it looks best with the original fender though 😝

  • @NatSatFat
    @NatSatFat Před 14 dny +1

    Good stuff Glyn, only thing is, when you push a fork leg up through the "mount" at the top hole, is there a click or something for it to say it has reached the desired height? or do you guess the amount it sticks above the hole say? or even to get the hole top level with the stay? (not sure how to put it?) simply how far up does the fork go? does it need to stop at an exact position? (are you going to replace the grease that was on the shiny bit of the fork?)

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  Před 11 dny

      Hello again! No, there's no positive location for it, you just make sure they're flush with the top of the yoke. On the Interceptor they poke through about an inch so would probably need a measuring tape for that to make sure they're correct. The Classic can only go in until it hits the yoke so no ambiguity there. I sprayed some oil up inside before they were covered, but I ought to check in case there's anything nasty going on👍

    Love the way it's looking now Glyn. I keep rolling back the video to compare the front guards but my brain keeps getting distracted by the reflectors on the fork legs 🙂 - They have to go and was the first job I did on my recently acquired Hunter. I think there is definitely something in using the original front guard or maybe mounting the short one onto the brace to eliminate the wire supports - can't really tell whether that's possible or not. can't wait to see this all painted up and out on the road, great job

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  Před rokem

      Thanks Paul 😁 How is your Hunter doing, they're a very attractive design. I was looking at the reflectors and thought I should ask someone how they got them off before I tried, do they pull off with a bit of heat or do you have to work something down behind them (or a bit of everything)?

    • @paulirving989
      @paulirving989 Před rokem +2

      The reflectors come off really easily - I just used a length of string with a flossing action between the fork leg and the reflector, no heat needed. They were both off in seconds and they are stuck on with clear silicone type stuff that just rolls off by rubbing it. The Hunter is a lovely ride, really enjoying that lazy long stroke single 🙂
