  • It's the most significant archaeological museum in the world, located at the foot of the pyramids. It is the future home for ALL of Tutankhamun's treasures. And it is OPEN... sort of... well, partially, at least. The exciting news is that they just opened access to the Grand Staircase, which contains 70 plus colossal statues, lintels, sarcophagi, and more! Come with Laura and see what you can if you go today-before the big grand opening, which will take place...?????????
Love to book a deluxe small group tour in 2024 or 2025 to see the Grand Egyptian Museum? Come with us! www.ancientegyptalive.com

1:52 Really? I've played Halo 2 and I've never seen that statue anywhere in the Cairo Station levels. Was it an easter egg maybe?

It sure did. I am not a gamer so I cannot speak for Halo too - but just google it. Here is one link: english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/50/1207/365917/AlAhram-Weekly/Heritage/Ramses-the-Great-welcomes-visitors-.aspx

I would recommend people avoid Egypt. It’s corrupt and a nightmare for a foriegner, seriously - some very sinister things have happened to friends. From corrupt police officers, to blackmail, to theft… to physical harrassment. I love Ancient Egypt but this ugly museum and it’s repressive and corrupt society are not worth taking a risk on.

The music is very distracting. It is not Egyptian and detracts from what you’re saying. Please remove

Anything to do with Ancient Egypt at Egypt's Museums are naturally suspect because the time line they use does not reflect the true timeline of history. Remember Ancient Egyptian contributed the pyramids and associated structures to an older people who had left them as a legacy of their own civilization.

Interesting comment Ian... Are you questioning the dates museums use in their displays? Yes, it is true that especially in the old Kingdom timelines may be out as much as 100- 150 years. 50 years in the New Kingdom. Some scholars reference low and high chronologies for dating. Still there is no disputing that the legacy of Ancient Egypt is magnificent when it comes to art, architecture, great works - even writings!
