    I wonder if anyone at Scott asked; "Why?" Why have an awkward enclosed shock and the ridiculous control adjustments? Have to flip the bike upside-down to make a damper adjustment-no thanks!

    • @benoosthuizen4961
      @benoosthuizen4961 Před 5 měsíci +12

      Have the Spark for over a year now, no issues and not that difficult to adjust… keeps dirt and mud off the shock !! Are mtbikers getting that lazy that they can’t flip their bikes upside down.. god forbid we have to hike-n-bike !!

    • @benoosthuizen4961
      @benoosthuizen4961 Před 5 měsíci +5

      @Hggsa736 Seriously… how many times do you do that? Is it really that hard work? No dirt and mud on the shock = lasts a lot longer !!
      Have I mentioned that I have a Scott… it’s not that difficult!

    • @percivalgooglyeyes6178
      @percivalgooglyeyes6178 Před 5 měsíci +3

      @Hggsa736 Plus with a conventional shock set up, if the seal starts to leak you will know it right away. On this bike not until you happen to look in there or when the shock is ruined and rides bad.
      I'm certain dust and moisture will still get in there. But Benoos loves his Spark and that's cool. Ride on!

    • @SpencerBaum
      @SpencerBaum Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@benoosthuizen4961I regularly adjust my shocks compression settings (usually every other ride) and I check my shock pressure every few rides as well. Scott's design just adds unnecessary complexity and it's solving a problem that doesn't even exist.

    great looking bike. what it does that my fuel exe does not is both a water bottle and the range extender fit simultaneously. i’m sure that was the genesis of the “hidden” shock location solution. But as all new engineering solutions emerge in what Rob noted as the accelerated innovation in the ebike industry compared to other industrial efforts, is that the fall out becomes an entirely new approach to shock tuning. sounds like the “brain” now soon to have a brain ie it will become automatic.
    i have the exe and a 2019 meta power 27.5 and see the evolution first hand. And yes to that I love to ride both depending on the terrain.

  • @gap9992
    @gap9992 Před 5 měsíci

    I watched a review on another channel that seemed to show that the TQ motor in A Fuel EXe was less efficient compared with Fazua Ride60 in other brands - in terms of Wh used for the same climb with same measured rider input. The speeds for the climb varied but the energy consumed was the most interesting bit for me. Does it suggest the TQ design is very quiet but less efficient?

    Having a fully enclosen shock definitley has its benefits, but also it's downsides. The fact it stays clean might be true, but having mudguards (all year) also helps a lot and the schock stays accesable. Personally I am not a huge fan of the design, especially the cockpit, but this simply comes down to personal prefrence I guess.

    It's not a beautiful shape but it does hide some components which makes it look cleaner. I would not buy it because everything is inside and hard to get to. It's good and bad and I would like to see a video on how to best address repairs if I buy any new ebike. I have a lot of experience but is there detailed schematics and ample parts if these new bikes break? How has it played out for ebikes bought in the last 5 years?

    What exactly does up to 300w mean Rob? Does that mean its peak output is 300w? Or is that the nominal output? Is it EU legal? Edit: I really don't mind that you have to flip the bike to change settings. You're only going to do that at the start of the ride, and it takes 2 minutes anyway. Loved the "Ah for FU-" when you dropped the valve though. That's gonna rattle in there and drive you mental!

    Non removable battery… absolute no go for me.
    I keep my bikes in a shed, sub zero temperatures in winter, hot in summer.
    I find it cumbersome to have to get the bike close to an electrical outlet.
    And… if I can remove the battery the bike would get even lighter to be packed in a car or up some stairs.

    Ahh complicating bikes for the sake of design rather than utility seems to be the standard for Scott. And screw this trend with headset cable routing - it only makes working on the bike harder and creates issues when you're trying to replace the standard headset with something better or when the original wears out - in some cases it's even impossible to use other headsets than the ones from the manufacturer of the bike! Thanks but no thanks.

    The bike looks cool, but it seems that the design hasn‘t been fully (no pun intended) thought through. Seeing that parts can fall into the frame when fiddling around with the rear shock, could almost be qualified as a design failure. It seems it is targeting an audience who doesn‘t do anything on their bike and instead lets their bike shop do any servicing. Which, I think, excludes enthusiast riders. And at that price point, I can only think of some folks with big wallets who want a bike that looks too clean and never really take it out on the trail or any dirt. I don‘t think that kind of design is going to stay - let‘s see if Scott will prove me wrong.

    Why are so many e-bikes equipped with huge travel, making them ridiculously heavy? I have a short travel trail bike (130 front and rear) and it is plenty for the riding I do. I am an experienced mountain biker and I have no physical issues, no need for a motor and have 16 years of XC racing behind me. If I ever bought an ebike, the last thing I would need is a lot of travel.
