I love everything about your videos, and from someone who has waited their whole life to have “good enough” content to film, you give me so much motivation because it doesn’t take thousands of dollars to create a solid interesting and visually pleasing video to watch. Your videos flow, the audio is crisp, the thumbnails are grabbing, and above all I never thought that I would subscribe to a channel that teaches welding but here we are… And it’s awesome

One comment on cracking of aluminum tacks... Be aware that many alloys (like 6061) cannot be welded without filler because the base alloy is so prone to hot cracking. You need to add enough filler to change the alloy enough to prevent this, even on tacks. Try running a fillerless bead across some 6061 flat bar and you will see!

Love your videos Dusty! I'm currently a student about to go into my TIG classes here in America, but I'm very on the fence of whether I'm going to continue with trade school, or go back to school and pursue a degree. I really like welding but I almost feel as though a career in it would burn me out, especially with the work culture where I live... I think I'm gonna finish out this semester and decide where I go from there. Keep up the great quality content my dude!

Thanks for all your videos Dusty! I like how you mentioned covering up your bare skin. Sometimes I wanna do a few tacks on a BUNCH of pieces and at the end of the day my bicep area is sun burnt.. I make it a priority to remember to wear long sleeves and cover up.
Many welders I see don't care about covering up. It's bad practice and might cause skin cancer eventually.
Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Question for you: Does back purging stainless affect the weld appearance on the outside (side that you are welding)?

Hi Dusty. I am taking your aluminum tig welding course on line. learning a lot. question: you suggest allowing your weld coupons to cool between passes, or to make sure it is not too hot before welding on them. is it okay for me to quench the coupons in a water tank to cool them down as necessary before continuing to weld on them? I know I should not do this for jobs or structural work, but for practice pieces is it okay? (so I can speed up the cool down time it takes). thanks.

Some good question and answers. Could you please elaborate on the first question about the tacks. Are you putting one tack at each end or are you putting a tack right on top of a cold tack? Is there a vid you have showing how you ball the end of the tungsten? Dime Dime.

I thought the pedal on canaweld machines was proprietary, I might have to do some more research 🤔
P.S Epson (the printer company) stole your catch phrase man! I'm absolutely fuming that some corporate shlub is stealing from a felllow islander!!
We know who was chilling and filling first though, thanks for the vid man! keep on keepin on
