Classic rags to riches build where it's missing basic necessities, but no way any columns can be sacrificed.
Don’t forget the trees!
😂
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaha
He loves Columns! Had to even name a sim Column. 🤣
Classic James
I hope he realises he hasn’t put in the litter tray for the cat
😢
He does not 😂
o..m..y
It shows that he owns no animals of his own... no bed and no litter tray
@@miunya He has a dog
lady: sells all of her hard earned horse trophies
also lady: keeps her scouting trophies from childhood
She can always earn more horse trophies but those scouting ones? One of a kind lmao
im glad they were kept ! shes a sentimental gal
@@victorianicholls3991true!
but also
lady: spends all her hard earned money on the animals
also lady: doesn't have kitchen appliances to make food for herself 😂😂😂😂
it's so funny how all the money went into the animals instead of lady's living quarters. loving lady's new r/malelivingspace!
My sister actually owns a horse ranch and I can confirm that this is totally realistic. All her money goes to housing and taking care of the animals. Her own needs come last.
LMAO
Watching James buy the cat two cat trees but forgetting the litter box (again) 😂
Suggestion...if you have a pond why not add a fishing sign so then you can grill the fish
He still has to go fishing somewhere else so he can stock his home pond I believe
@@Jinglesbellez Yeah, and that could close some aspirations connected with fishing as well. A win-win situation :)
@@Jinglesbellez He could use one of the the debug fishing signs. I always do that with my ponds. The regular fishing sign is pointless but the debug ones work just fine.
@@AnaMert1 really?? That’s super helpful thank you!
Is fishing fun though?
Please do a club to make some of the family help out on the ranch as a "permanent" ranch hand. I´d love to see some of the family back.
Krista!
The triplets specifically
ik u said u want the family back but i still think bringing sandalwood into the world (and maybe eventually becoming a member of the ranch club to help out as well) would be good to tie the branches of the family together.
Yes! And include Oak so he can finally make up with Lady lol.
@@DoveJSWhat if he lights the lot on fire again?
It's apparent that he's forgotten that with the "Wild Foxes" lot challenge, that any gated area will be automatically locked.
nah i have my gates show as locked without the lot challenge. it's a bug and the gates aren't actually locked either
When I built my ranch, I used the windows that came with the greenhouse kit to build an enclosure for my chicken coop. I just used the screen swatch to make it look like chicken wire and added a metal roof to it. Works great!
That’s really smart!😊
That sounds awesome!
I do this too! when he was saying he wishes there was chicken wire, I said there is in the greenhouse kit ahha I use it the same way in my ranches
Obsessed with James keeping the massive cow paddock and all of the fence and not scaling back when struggling for cash 🤣
You should plant roses on either end of your grape vine rows. They show signs of a disease or unstable conditions quicker than grapes and are used to stay on top of the health of the vines.
In true horse lover fashion, the horses accommodation was sorted before the owners 😂
It truly is! All the money goes to the horse! 😂
same vibes as my parents getting expensive heated water troughs for the horses before sorting water out for themselves when they first moved to our farm
James should really get the Don’t do dishes where you angry pop mod so he can disable dishwashing at any sink he doesn’t want sims washing dishes in. It’s been a life saver for me.
I use that mod too! Very helpful
This mod has been a mainstay in my game for ages.
Yes. That and it's counter-part "don't prep food where you angry poop" to stop them using counters outside the kitchen. Both essential mods for me.
I was thinking that exact thing. There's also a mod that is supposed to help with using the closest sink for hand and dishwashing.
Just FYI, stables in real life are often dim and lowly lit. I have strong memories of entering the gloom of the stable, where the horses are stirring. It's cool and quiet. Bats sometimes flit about. It's peaceful.
But yeah, low lighting is annoying for sims gameplay!
It would be fun to put a bath in the barn near the tack room for the dog and then you could put a shower in the house instead. Once there’s enough money that is.
Hey James! The base game basic fence got a swatch update to match the horse ranch rustic wood tones. It's probably cheaper than the fence you used for the garden zone.
I wish they could do a mechanic similar to how you can move a house vs full lot where you can select the height of the walls for each “house” instead of full lot so you can have medium/tall for the barn and small for the house
In keeping with the idea that this is a barn cat, I think you should size the litter tray way down and hide it under some brush. That way it will look like the cat is doing his business in the wild.
Brilliant
There's also CC that's called Nature's Litter Box or something like that. It's a version of the laser box which resembles rocks your cat will relieve itself next to and then the droppings eventually disappear.
The way he was spoiling the barn cat at the previous lot reminds me of dads who say they don't want a pet, or say "fine, the cat can stay in the yard but I'm not taking care of it", and then days later they're spoiling the kitty rotten and cuddling with it.
Yay! Lady moved to the 64x64 lot! I was thinking that instead of furnishing the big wooden house, Lady could live behind the barn, that makes it a lot easier for her to make nectar in the front room! And when she can furnish the rest of the wooden house, she can either move there or rent it out to make money, like an Airbnb. Or for recruiting her sibling(s) to help out on the farm like Chaz and Trenton.
Yeah! The roommate option is a good idea, she'll get paid and have another sim to talk to..! And they spawn food out of nothing!
I love that idea. That would be perfect.
Great idea!! 😊💖
She could have them over for stay-overs in there and see if they help out!
Oak, should help because he almost burnt down her house
23:05 Instead of a lot of gates you could delete some fence in between the goats and chickens unless you want them separated instead of mingling.
I agree, I enjoyed watching them all together I thought it was cute
That way the animals help with gardening too!
yes!! saves up some money that way too!
I like how this looks so far! I think you forgot a litter box and the stray cats will yell for one as well. Recommend the Lazer one so you don't have to clean it constantly.
There's also CC of the laser litter box which resembles some rocks that cats can relieve themselves next to and their droppings eventually disappear. If it still works, I recommend it! Makes so much sense for a barn cat. It's called Nature's Litter Box or something like that.
Don’t forget you can also add the tree stump and wild rabbit home to your lot to get even more animals turning up 😊(birds and wild rabbits from cottage living)
Yes! And the beebox!!!
Classic James Turner -- upgrading to a bigger lot under worst circumstances - lol. There goes the budget!!! It's gonna be super fun though
Barbecue...open flame next and under the tree. Hmmm...whatever could go wrong?? lol Love this ranch!!!!
I also feel like the chickens and the mini animals could do without a gate and could just remove some fence for them to share an area if you wanted to do that
James, just turn off "buildbuy grants gameplay effects" in the options menu. Then you can use whatever roofs, floors and walls you like without getting billed like crazy. You're not using the eco footprint system anyway (mainly to avoid the game breaking aurora). I don't think it'll interfere with NAPs or energy/water production either.
Oh, I had no idea that was an option! I really hate that the roofs destroy your bills, that's really silly imo lol
@@JamesTurnerYT how did you manage to place the trees in your household inventory? I recall that you couldn't the last time when Lady was moving from the smaller lot. Asking because I had the same problem placing my trees in my household inventory too.
@@carmenphoon I think they were placable in household inventory, just with BetterBuildBuy mod you have to select debug in the filter menu to see them.
@@Laurastar2009 But I only got the option to sell the trees instead of placing them in my inventory even after setting that in my filter menu. I use the BBB mod too.
Given the size of the lot, and how it will be used by ranch hands and visitors, I think the public bathroom from this pack (or Outdoor Retreat, which if I recall also has a shower) wouldn't look out of place here. And it would solve your bathroom issues, plus it gives a place for the visitors to go to on ranch days without needing to go in your house.
In addition, you didn't use the decorative debug grape vines that you said you was going to use during the build/buy overview.
Get Patchy as the ranch hand!
I think that would cause more problems than it solves…
@@xo_hopeYes, but the chaos would be funny.
Don't forget the LITTER BOX!
Jamessss! To save money: The paddocks don’t need to be so big right? The chickens and minis can share a paddock and that can cut down on a ton of fence costs! Also… where did the storage chests and solar panels go? 😂 I think you left a lot of stuff at the old lot!!
Solar panels and wind turbine are build mode items, so you can't bring them in your inventory.
I brought all the items from the storage chest in my inventory
@@JamesTurnerYT aww ok. Got it!
I love this build! I especially like the trees in the middle of their paddocks. And the horses truly have a phenomenal view from their windows.
Something you could do, from a story perspective, is have Lady living out of the barn while she gathers funds to get her house into a better condition. I feel like it's very common for people in the middle of construction or renovation to just live out of the most finished part of their home, and the barn apartment definitely feels like the more polished living space, even if there is nothing there.
Would love to see Lady and Oak make amends and he become the permanent ranch hand living in the red barn 👨🌾
He could work on the farm as 'atonement' for the fire
Then in the very last episode he could accidentally cause another fire that burns the ranch down
Lady could plant her apples and pears, to have more trees in and also it's pretty usual to have fruit trees around a ranch 😊
Hey James, the "Ladder-Style Horizontal Fencing" base game fence is a bit lower like the Get Together fence and had horse ranch swatches added to it in the base game update.
In order to make a properly sized outhouse u can increase the platform inside the outhouse and change the terrain around it to match the level kinda like u did on the porch
Or use half walls and lower the roof.
the panic I felt when you said “I’m just going to sell everything”
Would it make more sense to switch the mini goat/sheep and the chickens? So the chickens will be right next to the plants to go help out
if you become good enough friends with the mini's they can help with gardening also :)
The chickens will move through the doors that are not locked in the middle of this field and roam the fields as well. :)
Goats and sheep help as well so it doesn't matter who's closer
You need the bird tree and the rabbit hole for max chaos!! And To help with the garden as well
opened youtube to see if you posted and the video went up 39 seconds ago!! cant wait to see the build ive been so excited for lady to move the the 64x64 lot :)
I love the real time building videos without a timelapse, theyre so relaxing and its nice seeing the thought process!
I think Oak could be the permanent ranch hand, he's been trying for a long time to make amends for setting the ranch on fire and finally Lady gives him a second chance (until he eventually sets the barbecue and the tree on fire and he's vanished again 🤣🤣🤣)
It would be really cool, maybe when the lot becomes more of a vineyard, to use the stay-over guests feature as an air bnb. Invite sims over, have them chill in the barn, and then "charge" them for their stay.
Hey James! a good way to incorporate the turbines from Eco living is using that debug wooden stand normally used on Windmills!!! from the Ranch pack! I bet it would look fitting to the Western theme that way :) plus it would reduce bills anyway
James, please. The poor cat. He needs a litter box.
Those barell bins are glitched btw. Once they're knocked down you can't pick them up again and you have to buy new ones so probably a good idea to change them.
That's a shame as it looks cool..!
Isn’t that what happened in the first house Lady was at 😅
You should do natural well and great soil for the other lot traits!
I’m not sure how you feel about using mods in this series but LittleMsSam has a “live in services” mod that allows you to hire a live in ranch hand that stays on the lot. It’s been such a help in my personal gameplay!
That would be cool for when Lady is starting to get enough money she isn't struggling with keeping everyone and herseld alive 😂😂😂 we know James loves to suffer
Loving this series. Glad that you decided to build a larger ranch, the other one was great but getting a bit cramped. 😊
I think the feeder and water trove(?) would be good outside since it has a lot of usage, seems redundant for each horse to have its own. But amazing build! Can't wait for thenext episode
I really hope you build a bigger house later on like the cottage living one you made
Absolutely! We need space for Lady and her spouse/children.
This was a really fun build, really love that Lady is back to basics. Which to be honest happens to a lor of us after a big move.
Everyone poops including cats, so hopefully we can make some many from milk and wool so the cat can get a litter box.
there's a mod for live-in-services such as ranch hands, that could be a cool feature for your LP
Just from a logic / real life point of view. The horses are the most important part of a Horse Ranch so it should be closest to the house not the farm animal yard. Then behind the horse barn, or beside it, should be the horse training area. The back of the lot should be for the additional farm animals and plants. Also the old rundown building would be for other things, the horses come first, ALWAYS, so should have the renovated building. Because in real life people live in broken down houses while their horses have state of the art barns. Unless they are rich.
This series is making me interested in horses and the folks who take care of em. 🤠
James? Did you remember the little family heirloom box? 😬🤣
0:51 you can see it here
He sold everything and I immediately came to the comments to investigate 😂
Maybe in the future you can consider making like a nectar shop you can build on your lot too? Something like the one you had in Island living if I remember correctly.
The Diddly Squat Farm Shop!
You might do this before the video ends or decide not to but o think letting the mini Goats and stuff sleep in the barn would be fun. The barn feels like a big space just for the nectar making and I think it’d be fun for the guests to be able to look out over the little animals!
And by the way I’m loving the build just some ideas you can use if you want or not :)
i like how james refused to delete any of the saddle decoration instead of the wall light even though he only needed like $30 😭 the stable’s decor always do come first i guess
I love how everything turns out, especially from the map view! Poor Lady though all that hard work to be left with a little bit of simoleons 😂 Can’t wait for the next Let’s Play to see it all in action!
I dont usually watch build vids but Im invested (mentally) in this horse ranch playlist there is a lot of teaching in this one.Good job.
Jaaaammmeeessssssss put the recycler machine in the barn with the nectar maker 😂😂and if you buy the woodworking table again, that can also go in the barn haha.
I would've maybe switched the stable and the cow area so the stable is closer as it is more important and you're gonna play in it, whereas the cow area is only decoration basically :)
Not James forgetting the litter box again
Loving how my schedule has lined up with this guys. Catching his videos within half hour of posting is a great way to end my morning and start my afternoon ^_^ and it’s building today!!! Yay!!!
Im so excited for this lot to be finished, its gonna be like the seasons and cottage living lots combined
If you're looking at earning money from ranch events the party place lot trait is brilliant. I made a city farm in San Myshuno and their job is having ranch animal days. Found it quite hard to get gold before using that trait but once I had the trait on it was more manageable. The only problem with the animal day I've been having is that Sims reeeeaaaaally like to feed the chickens so there ends up being loads of piles of feed everywhere, even if you fence the chickens in and lock Sims out. They still feed them over fences!
I can’t wait to see this ranch fully decorated it’s going to look amazing
If Lady has someone move in to help with the ranch, the question becomes who to choose? One of her first cousins? One of her extended family? A Straud?
Something to consider would be if the potential farm hand will become a LI for Lady.
It would be more efficient for your chickens to be in the middle since they help with the garden. They need direct access more than the goats do.
i love how both james and deli said "I want to put a sink in here but i dont want sims to come here to wash their hands" with the same face while placing a barrel instead
I love that you’re gonna have barn cats, but be careful bc the strays will eat out of the cat/dog food dishes so you’ll have to refill them more often.
Would love if this was uploaded to the gallery. I cant build creativity to save my life and this looks like it would be amazing to play.
I grew up on a farm, foundations and stairs do not stop animals getting into your house lol. my neighbors had a hoof mark on their second story bathroom's floor
With all the use of columns, I occasionally wonder if there also will be a Column II 😅
It's okay that the fences have big gaps in them because animals will just stay in the fence. Even if they can escape, they won't. I used to live on a farm and this is my experience.
Maybe Sandelwood could be your live-in Ranch Hand. The werewolf can even sleep on the ground just fine and hunt for meat to help with the food situation.
I always love the building videos in the let’s play!
You can always make a get together club for some permenent ranch hands or to have friends and family help out on the ranch :)
The stay over guest's have a better living area than lady 😂😂
She makes sure guests are comfy during stay overs
Maybe Krista refused to visit until adequate guest quarters were installed 😄
Greetings From South Africa🇿🇦
I love watching what I call James'tango: telling himself not to finish a build and decorate, just to go and add just one more thing, and start again
Ooo, I like where this build is going! Rat hole in the barn would be fun for aestetics maybe?
LittleMsSam updated her Live In Services mod to support ranch hands, so they don't take up a household slot.
Gotta love how James will go through 50 loading screens to sell like 3 flowers in the general store for the challenge/difficulty but refuses to use a computer on a public lot even if he only needs it once to order stuff 😂
I dont think the feeders work against the bed, so you may have to move them
yeah i agree - i think he actually tried this out at the start of the let's play as well!
The DUMPSTER from Eco Lifestyle is great when you have horses. They don't kick those over 😉😉
Saddles, bridles, reins, bits and stirrups? Then the grooming kits, feed bins, medicines and blankets would all be in a room too.
Use the debug landscaping!! I never pay for trees and stuff since they’d usually already be on a lot anyways.
Move in Oak, it will be a nice way to reconcile them!
Get the little ms Sam live in services mod you can have a live in ranch hand i love using it
I think there is an outhouse mod/cc so you can still have an outhouse but not have to worry about the high walls
There's little street signs (the kind that go on a post) in the Cottage Living debug that size down and lift up perfectly to fit onto that fence on the stalls that you can use as name signs!
Oak should be the first stay-over guest!! He's been trying SO hard to apologize to Lady after the fire incident, so she should let him come work on the ranch fore atonement! 🤣
Love that you’re still rocking the mustache😎
I had a really bad night and your video made it so much better! Thank you. You are a great CZcamsr.
Obviously it's going to be a while (cuz money), but watersources for all the animals would be nice. Like that new tiny fountain for the sheep, goats and chickens and a water trough for the cows and llama.
There's a mod for Live in Services that makes it so you can hire them and assign a bed to them (once you have the money for more) on the lot and they live there and work everyday. Maybe the barn could be staff/guest quarters?
I think it makes sense to have fates everywhere. IRL, you'd just climb the fence, but sims can't do that, so gates work.
You should use the solar roof on the renovated barn!
beautiful build, for the "live-in" ranch hand can you not use the club system if you dont want to move them into ladys household? or maybe that has not been updated to include that part I actually have not checked that yet myself
