  • This name chant for Kauikeaouli recited by Kumu Nālani and Kumu Huihui, speaks of the many kapu of Kalaniʻōpuʻu including the characteristics of manō. Every verse ends with "Kauō e Kalaniʻōpuʻu o hou o ka moku" Kalaniʻōpuʻu, propel the islands forward. The next mele recited by the ʻōlapa, is a contemporary composition that celebrates the wahi pana and ancestry surrounding the Hula Heiau ʻĪmakakāloa in the ʻahupuaʻa of Kaʻalāiki, Kaʻū. The Mele ʻĪmakakāloa speaks of the water sources that originate ma uka of the heiau and extend past the shoreline at Punaluʻu.
