The Edith Kanaka’ole Foundation is a Hawaiian cultural-based organization established in 1990 to maintain and perpetuate the teachings, beliefs, practices, philosophies and traditions of the late Luka and Edith Kanaka’ole.

The time has come!.Here’s just some of the faces of The Uluwehi Project. Could not have accomplished this short film without their perspectives and values. It has been an honor to connect with each of these practitioners and having a better understanding on the importance of Mele Hawai’i. Mahalo mahalo mahalo!

This coming January we will finally release the short Documentary, “The Uluwehi Project”. It has been a long and hard journey, but it was worth the dedication. Mahalo to those who are in and out of this film. Without Kuhao pushing me to limits I didn’t think I could pull off, this film would not be announced.

Hula ʻekolu, E Kū, e Uli e Kama is a pule the Kahuna of Kuakaʻilani asked ʻIwikauikaua to recite. This pule divides the kapu from the ʻaha. Hula ʻehā, He Kaukau No e Lono is a contemporary composition and choreography. This hula kiaʻi was written for Lono and the many water forms of Lono.

This first hula called Hula ʻĪmakakāloa describes the land marks, the geographic features including Kū Mauna and the pola lei in which ʻĪmakakāloa sits. Hula ʻelua Kūhaʻimoana, provides us information on the generations of manō armies that migrated to Hawaiʻi, many from the shores of Kaʻū.
