    Those two types of org have each advantage and disadvantage, it must apply by different type of company, centralization is suitable for manufactury or facility, but decentraliazation is suitable for inovation or creation company, such as IT industrial.

      Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I think you are essentially correct in that the typical breakdown is centralized for manufacturing and decentralized for knowledge-driven companies. I would add that some manufacturing, like the John Deere Company, moved to a decentralized model of manufacturing and became much more successful. In the USA, they are the #1 brand in farm equipment since moving to a decentralized approach. Also, many knowledge-driven companies (e.g., IT, engineering, etc.) still often follow a centralized structure even though a decentralized arrangement might work better for them. In other words, while we generally associate centralized and decentralized structures with their typical industries, this is not because of actual effectiveness or natural fit to those industries. These are just choices that people have made often out of historical precedent. Again, thank you for your comment.

      Yh I also think it is a choice made on the basis of objectives n rules of a particular company or organisation,, in it's got influenced by a number of factors: like, what kind of decision are to taken; how much competent are the heads at upper n lower levels; what kind of responsibility it entails; being some of these influential factors...

    I fall more in the decentralization as it does provide more of the team work within a company than just top down communication with the power in one hands. I do agree to @Karo Lin to the fitting of the types per industry - especially that decentralization works in IT.

    Both are efficient depending on
    the kind of organisation. I've experienced working on both systems and from what I've learned so far, decentralised is a bit greater than a Centralised system.
    I can remember when I was working in a centralised organisation we have issues with both production and sales. We weren't making good sales on daily basis and we were so devastated wanting to make a difference by doing what we believe will help but we couldn't and even couldn't communicate that to the top. It was an issue that took us time to solve.
    Compare to decentralised, since departments can make certain decisions solving problems is not that much of a big challenge and is also solved on time.

    centralization is good for those types of organizations where there is very less creativity and which does not involve general people, like oil and mineral extraction, internet and electric connections..on the other hand decentralization is good for organization requiring innovation and creativity and which directly affects the general masses, like health, technology, media

    i have these questions.
    If the CEO despite having a good supporting team, is finding it difficulty keeping up with the many decisions of importance in the company and the company decides to reorganize into segments which will be headed by managing directors. 1. What decision areas might reasonably be retained at the company head office? 2. and what decision areas should be transferred to the new managing directors if such a reorganization is to achieve its objectives?
    anyone with idea please!!!!!

      I like decentralized but I think centralized has good points. I'm not sure when it induces a system to switch between one or the other, specifically regarding your example given, I guess that's the question between Pure Democracy vs Republicanism.
      I suppose a centralized system can only be established over one major point and everything else must be decentralized. Maybe the larger the system is the more major points it can hold and the system won't collapse. For instance a corporation's major point is to make money. That involves adapting the cultural norms they are in. When they try and push other outer cultural norms they place themselves on two pillars.
      That's a structural view, I know there are views based on risk analysis but I think they meet at the end. What do you think is an optimal time to switch between the two systems?

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for posting. Yes, I must have time traveled! lol. I prefer a decentralized system but it really depends upon the type of work being done and the situation the organization faces. Same thing with timing of a switch from one to another. I think it depends on what the situation is. In a crisis, for example, even the most decentralized system must very quickly take on some centralized features in terms of leadership to get through the crisis.

    Very Nice video!, I think that the real islamic system ( the one that existed at the time of prophet , not the fake political one that we live now in arabic countries especially) is a perfect mixture of advantages of both centralization and decentralization.
    It has a highly strong, flexible reference of Quran and sunna which can be applied to any place and time to make laws and rules ,and according to these references the president must work and listen to his consultants and choose the best choice (which is called shura) which does not contradict with these references.
