  • I used a lemon cake recipe to make this barrel cake, I doubled the recipe and baked in 2 8" round tins.
    Lemon Cake Recipe: • Lemon Loaf Cake // Pas...
    Chocolate buttercream Recipe: • Chocolate Buttercream ...
    Gelatin Ice Cubes Recipe
    - 6 tablespoons room temperature water
    - 2 tablespoon powder gelatin
    - 4 cups hot water
    - 3 or tablespoons granulated sugar (can add if you'd like)
    - 2 teaspoons flavour / 4 shots of gin/vodka/rum
    Method
    Sprinkle the gelatin on the water, and let it sit to bloom
    Heat the water and add sugar.
    Once the sugar dissolves, transfer to a bowl and let it add the bloomed gelatin.
    Add the flavour / alcohol and stir
    Refrigerate for at least 3 hrs to start set. Once done, cut into Ice cubes

    Great video. I tried this deco and it was easy to follow. How ever, I had trouble when panelling the fondant pieces on the cake. They literally couldn't stand at the top. The bit on the top kept falling and I was forced to just cut it off. Where could I have gone wrong.
    2. The gelatin icecubes messed me up. I had them in the freezer overnight. In the morning input them on the cake and I took the cake to a friend. They melted in 30 minutes and messed the fondant making it bleed. Thanks God it was a friend.
    Apart from this, everything else was great. Your videos are easy to follow and I'm one of your avid followers. Keep up!

      Either your fondant was not cut thick enough or you needed to add some Tylose to your fondant to get it a bit sturdy enough to stand at the top.
      I had the same issue with the gelatin, it wasn't a friend for me. Try isomalt to make the ice cubes. Works much better. No issues.

    • @Carollessence
      @Carollessence Před rokem

      Same issue with the gelatin icecubes melting my fondant after a while. The water ratio definitely, to take care of this, I added a layer of chocolate shavings then added the cubes on to, making sure they weren't in direct contact with fondant

    Hi. Which colour did you use to achieve the brown. I tried using chocolate brown Pradip powder while practicing before I do the actual cake it didn't turn out very well... Which colour would you advise. Thanks in advance.

    • @PastryPleasures
      @PastryPleasures  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi, I used a gel colour. You can use americolour or pradip chocolate brown.
      If using the powder colour, try adding glycerine to it, to give it a gel like consistency
