It cost me $80 with shipping and tax for this $5 piece of plastic here in Canada Putting the water hose back on was insane. Why do manufacturers do things like this? If the hose was slightly longer or a little softer, it would be easy. I used the bolt up through the hole into the hose trick. A 10 minute job turned into almost an hour. I'm glad I could fix it. I've repaired this fridge several times in 10 years. I love the fact that it's one less fridge in the landfill.

Thank you so much! Really helpful. And like several other people below, I found reattaching the water hose was not a trivial task. I found that reattaching the wiring harness AFTER the water hose helped. The breakthrough for me was using a 4 inch bolt (slightly smaller in diameter than the inside of the water tube), inserted up through the hole in the assembly and into the hose to act as a guide was the key to reassembly for me. Still, not easy to reattach that hose! It took a lot of patience.

@AppliancePartsPros and anyone else having issues reattaching the hose: After you've replaced the water actuator, reattach the main assembly to the fridge but do not reconnect the wiring harness. Now remove the six screws holding the circuit board to the assembly and remove (also mind the plastic vapor barrier). Now you will have much greater access to the hose making it easier to slip back into place.

Philip N. Thank you so much for posting your video. My water Actuator replacement was a total success, my total cost was $13.00. I fell like a rooster.

Great video. I could not get the water hose off, so I did the repair while it was still attached. Must have small hands for this though. Worked "better" after replacement but I actually think the problem is in the spring and possibly not the paddle.

Thank you so much for this video. I was able to complete this task on my own, having never attempted a repair before. I was going to pay someone on TaskRabbit almost $60 for this. So glad I decided to attempt it myself first.

Great video except part about hose going back in to hole at reassembly
Regrettably impossible, to short to handle and put in! Rest of video is on point A+

I think he was doing the repair on a modified Fridge. Getting that water tube back on was a bear, he made it look way easier than it was!

Great video and I bought the water actuator from ApplianceParts Pros. Quick ship and perfect fit. I had a hard time to work in the small space to place the water line back into the hole where the water comes out of the end of the water line to the cup/glass as seen starting at 4:05 in the video. I just could not do it. So, I bought some flexible non-toxic hosing (about the same size of the water line hose) and cut it to about 1/2 inch and joined it to the end of the water line hose by squeezing it over the existing water line hose. At the other end of the added flexible hose, I joined about four inches of the same type of water line on the frig (bought more of the same water line at a local hardware store) in the same manner. After I made sure the extended water line was secure and tight, I ran it through the hole and then placed the panel back to its operating position. I then replaced the screws on the panel and the panel face. For the final step, I cut the extra water line hose coming out of water supply hole with a sharp pair of scissors. All done and works as good as new!

You made the hose reconnect look too easy. I've been wrestling with it for 10 minutes. Tips?

I just used a McD straw and
Spliced it to fit original in it, and used tape to hold it in place. Just did it now

Hi! Great video but I'm having an issue. I followed the video and while the new actuator is set and the light is on on the display; no water or ice is produced when we press on the valve (despite hearing a distinct click). This was not an issue before repair (both ice and water worked, we simply had a broken lever). Any thoughts??

McD straw spliced and fitted on original to make it longer used tape to keep it together
      Works great
