    Hi Guys,
I sat my full license today and -flew- drove through my test. 😝
Now, unless you are as lucky as the guy in this vid I'd highly recommend people to practice verbally identifying hazards because I had to do it. My testing officer said it is the biggest difference between the restricted and full. But, fear not. Because I'd say a full license test is basically like your restricted but much easier!
*A bit of a heads-up to help my fellow kiwis going for their full:*
1.Don't be nervous and freak yourself out before the test, stay calm. It really isn't that scary. At all. Think of it as a restricted test minus the parallel parking & 3point turn. And the addition of your hazard identification skills and a bit of common sense.
    2. Practice verbally identifying hazards (just incase you aren't as lucky as the one in this video :/). For example:
"Oncoming traffic, I'm keeping to the left at a safe distance"
"Car in front of me and I'm just keeping a safe distance behind it"
"Car behind me and I'm keeping an eye out on it"
"People up ahead and I'm watching them"
"Car to my right and I'm giving way"
And so on and so forth. Pretty self explanatory. Once you get through your first set of identifying hazards you will breeze through the rest. Go for a drive around and say out loud the hazards and what you're doing about them or, even watch this video (like I did a night before 😂😂😂) and practice calling out the hazards you see here. Easy peasy.
    3. If your testing officer is anything like mine, they will go over what they're looking for from you before you even start your car up anyway (prompt you at random times while you're driving to identify hazards, using your mirrors, knowing where the handbrake is lol) so you will have a fair idea on what's expected during your test.
    4. Just stay calm and enjoy the ride! You guys got this!
Good luck to anyone who stumbles across this and finds this comment helpful! Happy driving 😊👍🏻

Hot Topic - Round About! It is not necessary to waste that many opportunities as waiting like that holds up and frustrates other traffic. Best option is to use the round about as it was intended, to keep traffic flowing! I'm surprised you got away with 100% as I would have knocked some marks back.

For those who are planning to do their full here - There are multiple routes so it most likely won't be the same, but there was just a bit less than 50% overlap of the test route when I did it. Just drive around this area to familiarise.
Hazard identification is pretty much only at intersections.

Very different from mu UK driving test many years ago. We had hill starts with gears, backing around corners, three point turn, emergency stop for a start. Then we were expected to drive in London traffic all thorough the test and answer questions. It was really tough. My car, a brand new Austin 40, would not go into gear which annoyed the tester until I asked him to try. At the end of the test where he had made me do a very difficult hill start onto a busy road and I did not like that at all, I passed first go but it was one of the most difficult drives of my life. Oh and you were not allowed to dawdle at right hadn't turns with traffic approaching. You had to judge where you could safely slip through and no waiting for the end of a long line. If you missed your chance you were failed as being too slow. This test would be a piece of cake.

Nice! Did the test today, was basically an easy 15 minute drive for me. I didn't have to call any hazards too which was surprising! I feel as though the instructor would only ask you to point out hazards if you seemed like a sketchy driver or not doing enough head/ mirror checks.

However, I did go through lots of lots of roundabouts! (about 6-8 round abouts in Oteha Valley/Browns Bay area). Other family members weren’t asked to tell the instructor what safety precaution they’ll take and some did. So, it’s just up to what kind of instructor you’ll get I guess.

For a full license driver it requires you to get into a roundabout much quicker when it's safe to go. And you had to point out hazards and show your capability of driving on a motor way ten year ago. Is it really a full license test? Much easier than mine.

Its because of nerves, the driver was nervous, like majority of applicants are
when they have a testing officer alongside.
I used to do this job a long time ago, we wore a uniform which added to the applicants nervousness, but we were aware of that and allowed for it during the test.

Not good driving lines or road positioning caused an unnecessary 3 point turn. Also poor car positioning caused you to cross the centre line on the corner exit back onto Glenfield road. Very hesitant at the first round about (giving way unnecessarily) and no hazard identification. Drive to the conditions or you may lose control of the car on corner exists under throttle (lucky you were not driving rear wheel drive).

    • @ataylor9954
      @ataylor9954 Před 5 lety

John Robinson that’s because those are in the restricted test (not in full license test)
There’s no hill stop stat if you’re using automatic and there’s no emergency stop in NZ test.
