Hopefully I've been able to provide more information than you ever wanted about this cheap USB capture device. :)
If you want a better View of the footage, I've uploaded the high bit rate, original resolution clips! (links in the description)
My testing was fairly crude, so hopefully those clips can help anyone who want to check the data first hand.
I wanted to show more, but we already passed the 10min mark, so I figured this should be enough to give people a general idea of how it preforms.
The full list of shown games can be found in the description.
Hello there. Please help me out I m desperate. I ve texted you on your boxdotEXE hope you can somehow assist me. Please. Thanks in advance
BTW all your videos are life saving and meganan rocks
You can buy a hdmi spitter and run one to the monitor and one to your computer
I play on switch, and I hate only being able to record 30s clips, or not being able to do clips at all in certain games. I’m now trying to start streaming, and I am completely new to it so idk what all these tech terms mean... also, I’m not sure how to set it up... so all it has is a input for like phone, console, computer etc and an output for computer.
Surely I can’t just plug both ends in and hope that I can start recording just like that...
@@codybrowning7053 hey do you have Twitter i can dm you and help
@@codybrowning7053 my Twitter is @tigerghst2
Since this is $15, I don’t expect it to be perfect. As long as it does what it supposed to do then I’m satisfied
Great video man, I was looking for exact that, a more technical view of the card. Thanks bro!!
So, essentially, if you absolutely need the capture to be 60fps, stick with 720p. That makes sense, considering the cheap price. It works, and for anyone trying to get their foot in the door for streaming or let's plays it's a great option!
How do you make it 720p?
@@Apocalymanye how you make it?
Huh, pretty neat. Might buy this for runs whenever my Avermedia croaks in like a year lol
Great Video, I wish I saw this earlier.
great comparison, thanks!
Thanks, i needed this 😭
From all youtubers i've watched (like 5 videos x(... ) you are the one who helped me the most
So just a question
I have a gt1030 with a vga and a hdmi input so do i place the usb and put the hdmi on my graphic card or i need 2 pc
And can i record 1080p 60 fps (and why if not)
Thanks a lot brother 🤜🤛
Thank you for explaining everything! I just got a cheap capture card that is different then yours but function basically the same.
its a bit frustrating that there's no way to use it through a different window so I can just focus on the game but I guess thats what happened when you get the cheap stuff.
but I do have a question if you can answer. have you ever use voicemeeter banana? and if so do you know how I can set it up where the audio goes through that or some way to set it up with discord and other audios separate? I'm sorry if my wording seems confusing but I don't exactly know how to word it properly.
What a great review, I just order one, probably no the same model, but it cost me $9
Thanks so much for this video.
Can you recommend a good hdmi splitter to use with this capture card?
I'd be interested in 480p performance, I couldn't care less about 1080p but if it could stream native 480p onto pc then I could use it to play PS2 or Wii games in 1:! scalling as TV struggle with 480p. On your capture it looks very blurry, perhaps there is some problem with scalling.
Thanks for the effort
instead of playing on the preview on obs you can right click on the preview and then press full screen
So it's perfectly fine just need to shift hue slightly red?
I don't have a monitor, but I have a laptop. I think as of now this should help me. Thanks for the video.
Did it help
can you use an 4k splitter to watch on tv?
edit: you can but the resolution will be cut in 1/2.
thanks for this! how would i use a splitter in this situation? i want to be able to play my switch on my tv while my pc records through streamlabs obs.
Yea, I have the same question. I tried to record some videos using obs, but I have pretty high latency. Trying to play an fps game is extremely painful. I'm not sure if a splitter will do the job. Well, then again, I don't know what a splitter does or how it works, so it just might help.
you output your console (or receiver or whatever) into the splitter input, and from the splitter outputs you go one to a TV/monitor and one to the capture device
What can I do if I don't wanna play with the OBS preview? There's some lag with the ps4. Can I connect a hdmi from the ps4 to a hdmi splitter, one to a monitor and the other to the usb capture device? Will I have lag in this case too?
Hi there! Thanks for making this video, it was very helpful. I'm having a few problems setting it up with my switch... How did you have yours set up? Thank you!
I just plugged it right in, and it detected my switch just fine.
czcams.com/video/HVx6zNDMi8E/video.html
You can use VLC to play games and the live view matches the performance of the capture device.
Instead of OBS?
@@verfed Yes. You can.
That's a good idea thx!
Yea I have the same USB capture device , and on play back on video you recorded has some lag , set on 30fps on 720p from a ps3 system, looks fine but I notice it in the gameplay of the background movement like in gta5, and yes I am using a 3d HDMI 1 to 2 splitter , so how to fix this ?
Great video!
I've had a slight issue when testing it on my setup.
I want to record ps4 footage with it, so i also have an hdmi splitter.
So basically one hdmi cable goes from the ps4 to the splitter for input
and for the output one hdmi cable goes from the splitter to the tv , the other one goes from the splitter to the capture card
I use OBS and select the capture card as the video output device .
in some games however in the preview and when i record there is very noticeable screen tearing happening.
Any idea how this can be fixed ?
Not sure if this is too late or not, but i saw someone suggested capping the frame rate in obs
the capture card only does 1080 30fps. if you don't cap the framerate in OBS it will try to get 60 and tear
hi i got a question, you make a delay in obs with filter on it 100ms? and witch would you take 720p or 1080p for my xbox one? thanks for help
That's great.... Now how do you hook it up to the PS4?
How well do you think this would work with Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit? That game is a bit different from other Switch games, because the game syncs with an RC car that has a built-in camera that displays live video feed of inside your house, and because of that the Switch won't let you record 30 seconds of gameplay like it does with other games. Would this capture card have any issues with trying to record or capture something like that? Or would it work just fine?
It wouldn't work but not because it doesn't let you record but because you need to have it docked to use the capture card and mario kart home circuit doesn't let you dock the switch
@@That0neDud Have you actually played Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit? Or is that just your assumption?... In case you didn't know, you CAN play the game in docked mode! In fact I play it on the big screen most of the time, and to prove it I even bought one of these capture cards and recorded a whole Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit gameplay video with it!
You got a link for those races? I think that would be pretty cool to see that in real-time.
@@bryantauchert1601 Yep! In fact I just made a video not too long after the latest update came out!

Also here's another video I made a couple months ago that I think you'll enjoy!
czcams.com/video/KfeHXywfdV0/video.html
I think it would work, i have played fortnite with it (fortnite also doesnt lets you to record 30 seconds video) and it worked fine
The RC car doesnt have anything to do with the capture card
mine came in yesterday and i noticed a ton of lag to the point it took actual kill to shoot and kill enemies by timing and predicting their movements while streaming gameplay .
So this actually worked but how can I get it so I can just play the game on tv/monitor instead of the OBS preview because there is a massive input delay there... Do I need a HDMI splitter for that?
Hi, i was streaming mh rise with it and it got loads of screen tearing. Maybe its because my monitor is a 240hz?
Here because I'm tired of the lag and ironically enough you had the exact same elgato capture card I use lol
I know I’m late but I’ve been using the vivitar capture on my ps4 but I’ve noticed that my recording becomes delayed with my webcam and it also crashes my whole obs can someone help?
I got it, its good. Although, since its only 30 fps you might feel like there is some sort of delay sometimes and then lag on stream. For it its price, is neat.
It’s okay. You can play on your TV.
@@kassimasinia3314 he means in the recording
I’m using it to record gameplay from my Nintendo Switch, which is 30fps any so that won’t bother me
What setting do u put on to stop it from lagging cos when I record Minecraft/fortnite on my switch on my vid I am teleporting everywhere so pls help someone
Same here
You probably just need a better pc. Try setting the bitrate to 1500 and it might work better and do 720p
Might get this now then upgrade in the far furutre and keep this for on the go
can the HDMI capture card output 60fps on the obs screens lets say for instance u want to game on a laptop screen 720p or 1080p
How did you set it up on the switch? I was assuming plug the usb into the dock and the hdmi from the screen onto the back of the capture card. Is that right?
Nah I think you gotta put the capture card into the pc and then put the hdmi in the capture card from the dock
u figure it bro
So if I have a 120hz monitor but I need to use an hdmi splitter for my ps5 does that mean that I will only get the refresh rate for the capture card?
so how do you remove the latency? cuz i dont have tv and planning on playing using laptop monitor
What are the mist optimal settings for less input lagg on obs
Okay so i got one of these and it arrived today. It has about a 0.5 second audio lag when im looking at it through the Streamlabs OBS Preview window. Does this get elimated by the use of a HDMI Splitter?
How did you display it into obs
How do you set it up on obs i got today and im confused

So if anything, you can still play from the tv while it's recording on PC? I know someone who has something like that, so I'm just trying to make sure if anything because I am searching for a capture card.
You can set up an HDMI Splitter set up to run it from both TV and through the video feed for the video capture.

Damn. i have these but I think i need a splitter for this and use my 2nd monitor for directly displaying the game so i won't have any input lag on the OBS preview. It has like a 1 second delay if played on the preview too. The thing i'm worried about is if the direct display after buying a splitter will have a delay too. :(
Did u test it?
If the splitter is 30hz does that mean that it will downgrade your monitor refresh rate?
It seems there is some concern with the quality of this, if i want to spend 30 dollars will i get the same thing but faster smoother capture ?
Bro I have problem in the input delay, like after I click something on the switch it shows on screen like after 250ms, and I'm tryna record my games, what do I do?
How do you connect it. My Xbox only has one hdmi output and I need to connect it to my monitor. I can’t connect it to the capture card
Im totally new to gaming and i mostly play on my switch٫ id love to use something like this to capture my gameplay for youtube but i have a possibly dumb af question. How can i record me talking whilst playing?? is that possible??
Use OBS and just choose your microphone as second audio source.
Hello can you pls tell of I should change it to 720p on my switch or on my obs?
I bought it but when I am playing, I noticed that there's a delay when I moved the character? Do you know how to fix it?
Hi,
Will i be able to record 1080p with a HDMI Video Capture Card linked to ps4 fat ?
thanks in advance
So this is for streaming to? So if im streaming i can put overlays on it and stream on ps4/5?
I haven't really seen how these setups work l, So if I have the stream running can I change from having the pc on screen to just playing off the switch and manage the stream from else where or does it redirect it in a way to where you can only view from the pc?
as mentioned in the video, this capture card dose not have an output,
So you will not be able to display your gameplay on the TV, only the obs preview window.
if you want to display on both, you'll want to get an HDMI splitter.
@@bobdotexe Thank You

Is it possible to have the picture at a monitor as well. If i use a hdmi splitter or something? I dont want to play on obs
Sadly no . It only works with the picture on the monitor if ur playing xbox but not ps4 :( . You would have to get an elgato capture card for ps4
@BOBdotEXE
How long can you record videos for?
As long as you want, (or have hard drive space for)
I ran it for about 3 hours straight when recording footage for this video
Been running a couple of these for a live 24/7 broadcast with no issues. I thought these wouldn't be able to handle 24/7 but I was proven wrong LOL
Have you used it to stream from a ps4 or xbox?
So...I'm having problems connecting my Switch, despite my PS4 and Xbox doing fine. Like, all I'm getting is that error 101 screen. The multi-colored 'no signal' screen. So far, I have found nothing to help me with this. And it's very frustrating...
To be fair, seems good for $15? Bought this one to test it on streams for Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart lol. Just getting started, so thats awesome
how do you help with the audio. because i have it but i dont know how to hear the audio through my head set
If you're using obs, you'll need to enable monitoring, their website should have a guide for this.
Does anyone know why I have to put my output input the tv or amplifier to get sound on my streams. that just won’t for me... any suggestions
Sorry this answer might be a bit late but for me it worked to change the source of the AUX to the USB Device in the same channel. It won't work with the audio channel that's automatically created alongside the video source
I have a lot of delay in the audio…. Does that have to do with the capture card???
Stupid question but how do i set it up to my tv? I have the capture stick, plug in my hdmi from the ps4 and then the usb in to my tv. But then what?
I covered this in the video, you'd need an hdmi splitter.
If we could get better software to access the capture card I think this would actually be amazing.
pretty much any streaming software will work with this, as the capture card works as a webcam.
Could you explain on how to set this up to record, sorry I'm very new to this.
