Join me while I take a look at the life and career of Betty Lynn, best remembered for playing Barney Fife's sweetheart Thelma Lou on The Andy Griffith Show.
One of the most memorable scenes was when Barney and Thelma Lou were talking about what they'd do if they ever got married, how they'd set up housekeeping, etc. But Barney made it clear he couldn't be rushed into marriage, and Thelma Lou was clearly disappointed at hearing this, though she didn't say so.
My favorite scene on Andy Griffith with Thelma Lou in it would be every scene she was in. The show was always more complete with her appearing. They added depth. Thank you for letting me know "Thelma Lou" had so much more going for her than I could ever imagine. Shame on her father, too! No wife and child deserves anything less than "the best" from a husband and father, and he just wasn't it. They seemed to have done well and good without him in their lives though.
D.E.W. 🇺🇲 MY SIS AND I USE TO SEE HER IN DIFFERENT TV SERIES. SHE LOVED DOING COMEDY. IT WAS A JOY TO SEE BETTY LYNN WITH DON KNOTTS ON T.V. SERIES MAYBERRY. BETTY LYNN DID HAVE PEACE DAYS IN HER FINAL YEARS IN N.CAROLINA. BETTY.LYNN WAS A WONDERFUL ACTRESS.

She had rough start in life! She seemed like a very sweet person, and I'm glad she was able to find some happiness!
@@spaceagerabbit I wish life guaranteed us all finding happiness. Too bad that it don't, even when we try hard to find it ourselves.

Everyone talks about "Ginger or Mary Ann?"
So, I ask "Thelma Lou or Helen?"
I choose Thelma Lou... (By the way, I choose Ginger, too!)
I agree with your choices.
I wonder if Betty's father was still alive when she became a success. If so, I'll bet he had his hand out.
She was cute, She would have been a better girlfriend for Andy.
She was really cute! And played such a good-natured character.
She and Barney seemed made for each other.
