I’ve been shocked by their performance in the wc considering how good they played during the qualification especially against Portugal
Look at 2002 Argentina they got 42 points an South America qualfying all that just for them to not make out the group stage
Brazil won 2002 World Cup but their qualfying were campeing was ruff they almost failed to qualfy but didn’t
Quali performance means nothing I can tell you as a England fan who before euro 2016 saw us win all the qualifiers games and beat Germany and France in friendlies on the way. Only for us to play absolutely terribly in the actual tournament.

2006 - Tournament's tallest team, eliminated in the first round.
2010 - Tournament's tallest team, eliminated in the first round.
2018 - Tournament's tallest team, eliminated in the first round.
2022 - Tournament's tallest team (in fact the tallest team to have ever participated in the World Cup), eliminated in the first round.
Now that is consistency.
Oh yes, this pattern is also occuring in at least 90% of other sporting tournaments Serbia has participated, proving that The Dutch don't deserve to keep their world's tallest nation title.

Serbia does not have bad luck nor a lack of quality. It’s the constant decline of a society which has already set the bar too high by (unironically) expecting them to win the World Cup. There’s a massive lack of mentality and discipline like in all other Balkan nations (except for the Croatian team) and it comes as no surprise that a team that looks as incredibly well as the Serbian one to have failed this badly
I dont think it's a lack of quality, cuz they have produced a lot of talented players. From what i have seen, i think maybe it seems that sometimes (such as in this case with Serbia) there are national teams that have good players in terms of individual talent. But then when they have to come together to play ad one cohesive unit, they don't seem to click as one unified group. Germany for example (putting aside these last two WCs where they have played bad) tend to be the oppositr, regardless hof the quality of their individual players (which most of the times is good anyways), they play as one cohesive unit. Serbia definitley has great players, they just need to learn to how play bettet as a team as opposed to just a compilation of individual players. I don't know what the fix would be to this, maybe the right coach? Im not sure. But i definitely do believe Serbia is a country with real potential, and i dont use that loosely or apply it to just any nation. I dont personally believe every nation has a "real" potential.

As a Serb I think the main difference between Yugoslavia and Serbia in football is that the players play in different clubs and leagues which leads them to having worse chemistry and team work compared to Yugoslavia which had great chemistry in the team due to the fact players had better knowledge of eachother and each other's play style. This is only my opinion though.
You are right, especially in 1930, in 1930 only serbs played for yugoslavia and they knew eachother. And for people who dont know serbia could win 1930 wc but uruguay robbed everyone

For me its just irritating that Serbia isn't good enough to qualify for Euros and advance to the knockout stage at the world cup since they became an Independent country. They could have afforded more since Euro 2008 Qualifiers.

I'm a completely Argentinian person, however for some reason, I suffer Uruguayan matches as if they were Argentinian ones. Hopefully, Uruguayan players and coaches can understand, that they have enough talent to go toe to toe with most of the teams.
@@ivanmontes9645 Yeah Uruguay almost made it to the final in 2010.Won the copa america in 2011 and were the best south american team at that time. They did well in 2018 world cup only losing to France in quarters but Cavani was injured. Haven't been doing well in copa americas and now grouped in 2022. They have youngsters like Valverde,Pellistri and Nunez .Hopefully,they can do better next time.

As an Irishman who has not seen his team make it to a World Cup since 2002 and who has only seen his team at two European Cups, my instinct is to think you're being ungrateful. But at the same time, we've had no expectations to do well, so my heart does go out to the Serbs going forward.

Well I gotta admit that judge decision to not even regulate a goal in Portugal vs Serbia was surprising considering how much obvious goal was,but then again if we look entire qualifications and wc 2022 we can say that it was meant to be that way with seeing suspicious decisions from the judges

I was joking about how the last time they scored more than twice in a world cup finals was still known as FR Yugoslavia in 1998 before World cup 2022 started. At least they managed more than that this time but their defence got exposed quite badly.

Yeah, this Serbian generation was great on paper. But they didn't have any that good coach in my opinion. So this can be one of the reasons why this generation failed. But still making it to World Cups is an achievement.
Well half of our team was injured and we played with our B team but I think the main problem was our defense
Serbia are the biggest chokers in world football. All the talent in the world but can't handle the pressure like Croatia can. They always do so well in qualifiers but they crumble every time
Serbia has the same issue as a lot of African teams. Quality players in specific areas but a terrible goalkeeper and too many squad menbers who are at a very low level.

I think we always had unbalanced team...team with Radomir Antic, beast defensivley on paper but no capable goal scorer in attack, Antic was best coach we ever had, one of biggest mistakes ever was firing him...this world cup, again same story unbalanced team, big hype, average coach, great attack (Mitrovic, Vlahovic, Tosic...), but horrible defence made of average players, team without true leader...I really dont know from were is such big hype starting, we are average team at best.

This upcoming Euros is the first we qualified for in 24 years and the first as an independent country. As a Bosnian, making a video on our failures of qualifying would be nice too, 2014 I feel like we were screwed over in that game against Nigeria and we didn’t do too bad against Argentina, but we had many chances to qualify for euros like in euro 2020 when we lost on penalties to Northern Ireland, or in the Euro 2012 qualifiers where nearly beat France to top the group similar to how Serbia did, but yeah I hope a bunch of the ex Yugoslavia nations qualify for the next Euros, that would be a history in the making

Modric,Kovacic,Brozovic, Gvardiol,Lovren,Livakovic,Eduardo,Majer..
They don't have that in Crvena Zvezda and Partizan...

Serbia is the Balkan Scotland. Always do well in qualifying (and Scotland were good until 1998) but do nothing in tournaments. Scotland have been to 11 tournaments and have still yet to progress beyond Round 1.

The unfortunate truth....
As a Frenchman, I really like Serbia. But I must admit that the Serbs' mentality is sometimes faltering, especially when they lose control of the match. They start to get angry and do stupid things. Quite the opposite of Croatia, which, even when dominated, manages not to succumb. This also explains why Croatians perform well in international tournaments.
Only Serbs played in 1930 so we got 3rd place,also i thought we will do better in 2022 Fifa World Cup but we move to Euro 2024.

Their problem is that every wc when they play Other teams pays ref lile in 2018 when two swiz playeds pushed mitrovic on ground in penalty area in 2022 serbia deserved win agaisnt cameron ref alowed offside goal serbia should won 3:1 or 3:2 against cameron 100%. And again agaisnt swizerland the swiz player was touching ball with his arm in penalty area. Swizerland pays ref always Serbia could get to quearter final or semi if they didnt pay refs.

Not gonna lie, Mitrovic misses a lot of pens. He isn’t that reliable from the spot. In the prem he has missed some crucial penalties late in the game and he has missed some for Serbia as well. Not to take anything away from him, he is a phenomenal player, but maybe someone like Tadic or Milinkovic Savic should take the penalties

To be fair, UEFA decided to remove two games between Armenia and Azerbaijan because Nagorno-Karabakh was an indisputed country for Armenia and Azerbaijan, which was left unoccupied after the civil war. Since then, they weren't being placed on the same groups for the subsequent major tournaments. The same prohibitions applies for Russia with Ukraine, though this was not happened since the great war happened the last year, and Serbia with Kosovo and Bosnia.
