Why I Prefer Pre-2012 Era MCU (Alternate Cut) | video essay

- This is an alternate cut to my original MCU essay video. I wanted to make a better presentation that sounds less pissy/rambly and is better strutcured with a clearer narrative. As well as cut down to be simpler and easier to digest.
Like the original (or rather what the original was intended to express), my main point in this video is talking about how the art style of the MCU changed ever since after 2011 when Paramount left the role of distributor. How the films went from a more realistic vibe and aesthetic with less CGI, less vibrant colors, a shakier camera, more orchestral music, and a thematically more grounded world to (for the large majority) more excessive CGI, vibrant colors, wackier designs, trumpety music, and an overall more whimsical and fantastical approach. And just how less captivating it is for me in general as a fan of the previous direction.
All in all this isn't a critique, but just an outsider sharing how he personally feels towards the MCU. This is not made from a place of anger or hatred (nor am I trying to start a debate), but merely disappointment and sadness. I want to see who feels the same since this isn't something I see many people within this sphere discuss.

You know how I would do Endgame ? Well here are some changes:
1. The Beginning: So I want the movie to start with the world living a normal life till the snap happens and it all cuts to black saying 5 years later.
2. Things that happened during the snap: When I watched Endgame i noticed some mis opportunities when it comes to the snap. What I mean is that, it feels like people still living a normal life like nothing happened so I'm gonna change something. I'm gonna have Steve Rogers mentioning wars, chaos, and political stuff happening during the snap like people fighting for survival which is why the world looks so dumped. For bonus, if the X-Men were in the MCU, I would have Senator Robert Kelly be the President of the United States like in X-Men '97 (if the X-Men are here).
3. What some heroes are doing during the snap: So I wanna see what some of the heroes have been doing during the snap like: Tony living a normal life like in the original movie, Steve and Natasha trying to move on like in the original movie. There are some changes tho. Bruce Banner (probably still played by Edward Norton which in my opinion is a better Bruce Banner and Hulk actor) would not be a CGI Smart Hulk but instead back to his regular form and yeah he can still have some control on his anger. Thor on the other hand would not get drunk nor get fat but instead train and train for years trying to prove that he is still worthy after all these years. He has both weapons in this movie this time (yeah so that means Thor fought Thanos with his hammer and new axe in Infinity War). Some other heroes like Rocket, Nebula, War Machine, etc. will stay the same.
4. Suit designs: I'm gonna be pitching some suit designs to some characters so.....
Captain America: I'd probably keep his Endgame design.
Iron Man: Probably have him wear the Mark 46 suit or just wear an upgraded version of his Mark 3 looking suit. The suit had some transformers vibes in it (just vibes not look).
Thor: I'd bring back Thor's long hair and have him wear his Thor (2011) suit.
Hulk: While Banner is not Smart Hulk in this pitch, I would keep his 2008 design throughout the MCU.
Others: Some could look the same, some could not and yeah I'm gonna remove the nano tech suits here.
5. The fight scenes (+ the final battle): So I want the fight scenes to be realistic and have some John Wick vibes in it (with some brutal stuffs going on). Take Hawkeye's/Ronin's scene for example, it's actually great and gave me John Wick vibes but I wanna put something cooler in it: I personally want the fight scene to take place in Hell's Kitchen (yeah. Since Marvel confirmed that the Netflix shows are canon, it wouldn't hurt for the movies to make a crossover with the shows etc.). While Hawkeye/Ronin is killing some criminals, I either would have Punisher or Daredevil trying to stop Clint. The rest of that scene will remain the same minus the Japanese stuff because this scene doesn't take place in Tokyo. Now I want to add something cooler in the final battle: I want it to be shot like in "All Quiet on the Western Front" where there would some scenes of soldiers (probably the wakandans, new asgardians, ravagers, and maybe Iron Man legions and of course some of the heroes) fighting the enemies like they were fighting a real war. I'd personally have the military involved a little bit and have the fighting sequence similar to Zack Snyder's Justice League.
6. The ending stays the same
7. The directors: I'll probably still have the Russo Brothers directing the movie because I couldn't think of anyone else.
8. The music: I'll have most of the music be orchestral and have a feeling to it, not making things sound like we are watching an animated movie.
9. Atmosphere and feeling to it: Probably have some real life situation vibes and have that live feeling where you can think that the things that are happening in the movie are real.
So yeah those are some of the my changes what do you think ?

It would have been fine if the MCU *DID* start in a colorful way but instead they released so many movies and shows that have so many tones and styles. Also Man of Steel is my favourite Superman movie.

I like it. My favorites are 2 and 3. 1 was too cheesy for me but not terrible.
What are your opinions of Thor: The Dark World? Do you think this film has the same atmosphere as Kenneth Branagh's Thor (2011)?
I mean, I gave it a D in my tier list if you didn't notice.
But I will say that it does have *some* good scenes in it that I think carry the spirit of the first Thor film, such as Loki's "death", Frigga's death, and when Thor gives up the throne by the end of the film. The rest of the movie though feels like Avengers.
What are your opinions of Elizabeth Olsen's portrayal of Scarlet Witch? Do you think her acting looks nothing like the comic?

Late response but there’s not really any other superhero franchises out there that I feel this way towards. As a matter of fact I don’t know any others outside of Marvel, DC, The Boys and Invincible.
Also I have checked them out. That’s why I mentioned them in this video.
Hey Anomaly what do you think about the MCU version of Thanos ? Do you like him or not ? Or would you have changed or done something different with him ?
I prefer the way he looked and sounded in GotG and AoU. Even when I was a fan of the MCU I was never fond of how they humanized him in both appearance and demeanor. It was something that immediately stuck out to me when I saw the first trailer for Infinity War. I like the glowing blue eyes and the deep, sonorous voice. Not to mention the more warlord-like impression. It was a lot more menacing and felt more like the “mad” Titan.

I have a question, how would you handle the multiverse if you were Kevin Feige and the movies and show have the "same" art style as the early phase 1 ? Also what's your opinion on the first two Deadpool movies ?
I wouldn’t go the multiverse route to begin with. Hmm.. except maybe in No Way Home (I’d like to see a better version of that film). Other than that I would go a different route entirely. Not sure what though.

I think I’d still involve Dr. Strange as the gateway to the other universes, but the way it would happen would be much more interesting and clever instead of Peter simply asking him to cast a spell for college issues and it going wrong...
