Jorge Posada, though with some experience at second, was a Catcher playing 2B in the 9th inning of a blowout. Roman Quinn is a OF but was put in as an emergency reliever and Vince Velasquez is a SP but was playing LF. This was an extra inning game that Velasquez was unable to pitch in having started a few days prior. David Ortiz only played in the AL and was primary a DH but played 1B from time to time. Javy Baez is a right-handed hitter but in this blowout he batted lefty. Travis Wood is a SP/RP but was put in to play LF. Bryan Mitchell is a RP but, after pitching in the 9th inning of a tie game, was moved to play 1B in the 10th in order to keep him in the game to pitch the next inning. Michael Lorenzen is a SP/RP but was playing in RF. He's worked some corner outfield spots in hopes to be a two-way player. Russell Martin - although drafted as a third baseman - plays almost exclusively as a Catcher in his Major League career. Sergio Romo - despite being a middle-infielder in HS - is a RP (sometimes Set-Up, sometimes Closer) but was moved to 3B temporarily to keep him in the game so he could pitch later.
Ortiz was not out of position. It was his secondary and eventually ended up becoming his primary. Out of Position means it’s not a position in their designation. It’s not that they can’t play it, most players can play any position at the professional level….its just usually not their strength. You got to remember that a lot of these players played other positions in college and get changed after being drafted. Especially Pitchers and Catchers. De Grom was a formidable Shortstop.
velasquez's outfield plays were insane
Ethan Johnson yeah and yet people still say pitchers aren’t athletes
forreal, Vince must have like 2 DRS as an outfield just for that inning
Ethan Johnson ikr
He’s a better fielder than pitcher
Gold glove
Honestly Lorenzen could be a 2 way player
he pretty much is, just doesn't start either way
And Velasquez
Can we just talk about that throw Wood made?
JeremyIsTheBoss what is so crazy about that throw?
SethBurkett_9 it was a solid 350 feet in the air???
@@risengrind8059 nah it wasnt it was like 280 it made it to second base from left
with an arm that strong, they should make him a pitcher
2:03 I get it was a pitcher playing first base, but that looked like a little league learning baseball.
And in mlb the show they make everyone have 0 fielding
I remember when I was 12 I started playing left field and ended up as catcher ... In my country you have to be an utility lol
Wish I knew what potions they usually play.. or any type of context.
Yeah I didn't understand what player in each one was out of position.

The Phillies one I remember watching on tv going crazy
Oh hi lol
David Ortiz has played some games at first base before. Sorry did nit read that it was his first interleague game since 2006.

Mr. Money he usually never plays the field, mainly just DH
Wowza
Should’ve showed Velasquez at 2nd
1:32 are just gonna forget that Kyle Farmer was pitching as well
That’s the main point 😊
Imagine Baez hit a homer lol
0:45 was that a metal bat?
no. why would they use a metal bat
@@Joe-lt2bj it sounded like one ok.
@@leoj7048 it did not sound like one
J P it definitely didn’t sound like wood, but it is
@@alexwhite6329 are you a dick, yes.
I wanna bring a large capacity crowd to their feet and a crowd pop just once in my life.
I mean look at the dudes on the right after the outfield assist. Let's go. I want someone to be that excited for me to do something.
Nick swisher also didn’t play 1st
toward the end of his career he was mainly 1B
Just once I would’ve loved to have seen Bonds Catch for the Giants. Idk why.😅
Lmfao why did Posada throw a bullet tho xD
Can we talk about how the Yankees were beating Oakland 22-9
Anyone notice that the score was 22 to 9 at the start of the video
Me
22-9 🤣
Bruh the first one like 22 to 9
I love how everyone is like wow they can actually play there? They're professional athletes, they can play anywhere
Right. Everyone of these guys were the superstar of their team from little league to high school, VFW, college, minors, etc. They know how to play.
The ultra quarter simulteneously mark because pumpkin cellularly grease until a miscreant policeman. expensive, actually blue
