How To: A Better Penholder For Your Notebook

- In this video I show how i used Duct tape and a Sharpie pen (any similar tube shape works) to make a BETTER pen holder for a notebook, or my notebook of choice, a Moleskine. Moleskine and many other notebooks don't have pen holders because it's about impossible to make one to fit any writing instrument. I show how you can make one that looks clean and professional, will cost you less than a dollar, and is durable. The other videos I watched were made of paper. I'm a busy professional, I can't have my stuff made out of paper :). You can do this in 5 minutes and it's actually pretty fun, and cool knowing I can customize my next Moleskine to whatever kind of pen i happen to be using that month... I change pens often. Protip: if you wan't a less-shiny look, use Gaffers tape. You can buy at GuitarCenter or online at Amazon for around 12$.
This is the best of all the pen loop methods on CZcams. Took me 5 minutes to add a loop to my Moleskine. And that included looking for the duct tape.

This is just perfect! I love the simplicity of it. I didn’t have duct tape, but I accomplished the same great results with some scraps of vinyl left from a Cricut project! Thank you for sharing!
I just did this. Very simple, and looks clean and like it belongs with the book. The only design feature I didn't like about my journal was that it didn't have a pen holder. Thank you, this was ingenious!

This is great. And there are so many patterns and colors of duct tape now at several different stores, so it's easy to also make this look 'fancier'

thank you for this video. this helped alot. i was looking at amazon for pen holders and pen loops . i just trying making one that i saw in another video . they made it with fabric so instead i tried masking tape. didnt work out too well. i tried your technique and now its way better. my technique was already starting to come loose. so thank you alot. you just saved me 5.99 plus shipping and handling

Avari20 yep! Keep waiting for these notebook companies to start including our pens! The ones that do, they put a loop that is way too small- I like specific pens like the Tūl pens, and they don’t fit small pen holders! Also, gaff tape works and looks better, but it’s harder to get hold of- Amazon is my source, but I work in theater so we always have it

If you want it more centered and secure, use a longer piece for the last piece of tape and attach it to 2 or 3 sheets in the middle of the book.

Looks like Gorilla Tape, which, IMHO, is much better than Duck tape
