The funny thing is the world never hears the real reasons and so there are assumptions and lots of speculation. They have been together for 31 years and so far no one has come between them, that is to say it's working well for them. I know someone is going to try to take me down but the truth is there is never an action without a reaction.
He did love his first wife but it seems that when he met Trudy it was more of a soul mate connection that neither of them could walk away from. It didn't help that his first wife got pregnant early in their relationship which didn't really leave Sting time to decide if she was the right one for him. He did love Frances Tomelty and probably always will, she just wasn't right for him.
Trudy put the Yoko moves on him and moved herself in. She was appearing with Frances in a play. I remember it well. Every breath you take was written about Frances. Frances dumped him.

Trudie was going on tour with sting while his wife stayed home with the kids.
Bridgette (sting and trudie’s first child) was born in 1984- same year their divorce was final. It wasn’t always perfect .. no one remembers this but at the time it was a scandal.

My husband and I have been married 51 years. Some years back, he came to Roanoke Virginia, and the female singer, Jill Scott, was supposed to go on before for him was too sick. So he came out and started singing extra songs. He had a great personality towards the audience and was so apologetic. We enjoy the concert immensely. As he got older, he started to change his style. He made that awful CD. But he's Sting, he can do whatever he wants.😅 I do think it's pretty bad that he did leave his wife the way he did with Trudy being her friend. But that's the worldly way. Not happy, just leave. Don't try and stay and work it out. That they have to live with it and apparently they're living the life. I hope the first wife got a great divorce settlement.😊

I totally agree with what he's saying about being married to your best friend where you actually like each other as well as live each other.
