The loss primarily came down to the lack of intensity and commitment from the players rather than Xavi…. We literally have no dm in the team…. All the midfielders too aren’t ball winners and that’s what we lacked…..

@nanakofigenfi barca midfielders can win ball from tackling,its not problem,problem is that Barceloa play very very wide so most players must win ball from 1v1 situations,and in these sitations,only someone like Kante can win these balls,but Frenkie,Pedri and Gundogan not.I want to say that Xavi play very risky too wide structure and very high line and this is why Barca concede so many balls,plus Barca dont have Defensive Midfielder.
Yh you are right, that’s why it’s important for barca to have either a dm or a ball winner in the team especially with the absence of gavi…. Xavi can do better with the teams pressing…. It’s not helping the players….
I don't agree. Xavi played 3atb it's good decision that backfired.
My first thought was wtf we are playing 3atb against great countering team with super wingers...
@@VishnuZutaten Its not problem in 3 centre backs its plus to defense to have extra centre back,problem is that Joao Cancelo is very high up on left wing,so he dont have enough time to cover Girona winger.In match against Girona Xavi play without full/wing back in defense,and Girona use that in their benefit.Xavi play 3-3-4 with very high defensive line,and its not suprise that Barca concede 4 goals.
Barcelona has no touchline winger…. Xavi has seen it and that’s why the wingers invert a lot…. Having them touch the line would mean that they would have to go 1v1 with the fullbacks which they suck in….. this current setup of Xavi is good for the players…. They just need to be clinical

Why not play Christensen(He's the best ball playing CB in the team with only Inigo giving him some competition) as the single pivot in the midfield (Gundo or frenkie can drop in as needed just as xavi used to back in Pep's barca) and start both balde and cancelo. I get that balde is out of form now, but giving him constant playtime is what will help him regain that touch.
Playing Balde and Cancelo would give us enough width to hold the field wide and keep the flank stretched. Also having Christensen would leave us with an extra CB on the counter.
Also We can have players like Fermin/Roque (When he comes) who are good at striking the ball in the right wing as they can invert and become a direct goal scoring threat.
That way, we'll have the real goal scoring threats in the half spaces at the edge of the box rather than having players like pedri or frenkie who aren't that good at striking the ball.
The midfield can slightly sit back and focus on keeping possession and recovering possession every time the wingers lose the ball. That way, well have more players who can bring in goals. Sure we'll have 1 less ball carrying midfielder on the team. But considering the need of the team and the sheer quality of our midfielders like frenkie and pedri, I really doubt thats gonna be a problem.
This is kinda how Lucho's barca functioned. The midfielders sat back and both dani alves and Alba used to overlap letting both messi and neymar invert into the box.
The final line up would be a 433
Cancelo Kounde/Inigo Araujo Balde
Frenkie/Gundo Christensen/Inigo Pedri/Gundo
Yamal/Roque/Fermin Lewa/Ferran/Roque Felix/Rapha/Fermin

Having a single pivot is very pivotal in building up very well…. Having a double pivot is very pivotal in defending well…. City don’t defend with double pivots that’s why teams like Chelsea, arsenal and Aston villa were able to overload the middle, allowing rodri to cover so many players and grounds and finally hurting them…. cancelo play better at the wing , i dont think he is press resistance and him with de jong as double pivot , i dont know man. I am happy with xavi's lineup , my biggest problem are our pressing is lacking synchronization and pedri should play more central and have more ball to create.
I think apart from the technicals, the squad has a problem with finishing chances. We had almost double the chances created and more expected goals per 90 and still look how ineffective we were infront of goal. And this isn't the first performance to go down this way so the team needs to improve on these numbers.
We have to use prim and cubarsi.. and maybe alarcon as well

1. The 2 goals shown here were more so due to poor defensive organisation.
Christensen has to recognise there isn't enough pressure on the ball and has to change his position, so a ball behind him is impossible.
The 2nd goal, Araujo is simply completely in the wrong position. He should be where De Jong ends up running to to track the midfield runner. If Araujo is there, De Jong doesn't have to follow all the way into the last line and can deal with the shot.
We see more defensive organisation problems in the Champions league game vs Antwerp.
Romeu mistakes aside. The offside goal, Kounde obviously is poor in his attempt clearance, but more importantly, Cristensen has not stepped across when the ball is on the left. The gap between him and Balde is gigantic, far too big, especially with no pressure on the ball.
The winning goal. As often the case, Kounde is poor in a physical duel, but aside from that, defensive fundamentals not being shown. When one of the centerbacks steps out of the backline to contest a ball, the rest of the back 3 need narrow and drop. Instead Cristensen again, plus Balde, have not moved to cover the space, couple deflections and they are in behind.
I don't know if Xavi has not prioritised this aspect this season, or last season the backline were just far more locked in, but they don't look well coached at all.
In terms of the suggested changes. I don't like it because Ferran and Raphina aren't effective as strong side wingers. As in, Ferran isn't reliably able to play 1v1 against a strong leftback without the threat of coming inside to his strong foot. Raphina likewise on the left. They just aren't good enough.
I prefer the Cancelo invert into midfield, rather than playing as a normal leftback. So that part I like. But I'd prefer he do that from rightback (allowing De Jong to stay on the left side of the double pivot) and have Balde play leftback, but not as advanced as Xavi been using him. He is suffering because he isn't a winger, he's a fullback, he has to run into space, not already occupy it. I understand with Felix staying inside off the left, there is no width, but we can compensate this by having our striker, playing in between the RCB and RB. If he stays on the outside of the RCB. He will force the RB to choose between following Felix or leaving the RCB without cover. If he does follow Felix inside, this is when we can use Balde on the overlap. Aston Villa do this very well as an example.

I think for the 433 we need better wingers that can go pass people and have great speed
I disagree with having raphina on the left. For that to happen, raphina needs to have the ability to take on a defender and he should also have the ability to exploit space in a "jordi alba-esque" kinda way. Xavi is using the players to the best of their abilities. At the moment, Barca only have two problems;
1. We're not clinical.
2. We're too passive off the ball, we no longer recover balls like we used to in the first half of last season
This can be solved easily as well. We just need to bring bback Gavi and also play Romeu when we need to. Roque coming in can hopefully push Lewa to be more clinical and perform better

@@tacticsfcb3952 I know that. I meant that raphina should be able to exploit space the way Jordi alba does on the left. Alba was more space conscious (likes to make runs in behind) whereas balde is more of a progressive ball carrier

why aren't we using christensen as the pivot, he has the ability to thread passes in the central channels and will provide defensive padding as well, I just wish to remove Raphina, and the rest stays the same with defenders: cancelo, kounde, araujo, balde, midfielders : christensen, pedri, gundagon, frenkie(Diamond formation) , striker : lewa/ mark and false left winger :felix, while cancelo and balde provide the overlapping runs, defensive work can be taken care of by three main CB's
