And she died three and a half months later, my best memory of Janis was seeing her at the Fillmore East and singing until 4 am during the second show. I was smart enough to go to both shows that night and I'll never forget the impact she had on me. One of a kind, the best that ever was.
Pelo vídeo agora vejo pela primeira vez, amigo, vejo uma beleza rara, de uma alma que encantou o mundo, e ainda encanta à quem vê seu canto mágico e magnético. Linda Janis Joplin.
I'm 63 years old and I remember seeing Janis live once. I was a eighteen years old and in the Navy. There is no one like her today and I don't believe there every will be again. She touched our hearts and she was the real deal.
I'm 59, I never got the pleasure of seeing her live. She is my favorite. I taught myself how to sing listening to her albums. I did pretty good. I was 15 and sang til I was 40. I admire, love and miss her. Your sooo lucky to have seen such a legend. 😎😎. What a great memory to have.
When she's singing... it's like a whole different person comes out and as soon as she stops, it's back to the little girl called Janis. Strange... but I wished she had stuck around a little longer.
My girl!! I was a young girl when I got the Pearl album. I related to her story so deeply! I was 13. I'm 64 now! RIP Janis! Now my 41 year old son sends me her music! The love of Janis passed down on him!
Look at how drained she is at the end of this song! She really put everything into her singing. She gave every song her all! Her entire being! It’s like she felt every word. Amazing! Very Powerful stuff! RIP Janis- I hope you’re at Peace
I’m blown away, in 😭 tesrs, too 😎 awesome, WHATEVER man, this chick sang her heart ♥️ out- there is good reason they call ☎️ her Joplin, b it hey, I’m sure she’s in Heaven, where a good 👍 woman 👩 is appreciated!!
Today marks 49 yrs (October 4, 1970) since her death at the age of 27. Had she lived she'd be 76. What a fine voice she had. love to Janis Joplin, Miss Pearl. Rest in Rock.
I was just cleaning my Appartement and listend to Janis to encourage me while the windows where open. A neighbour asked to what kind of "screaming" I was listening. I thought fu......off but said,it's Janis the untouchable! Made my point!
It makes me sad to actually watch her and see her on video. She was someone who felt music so much and it was obvious that people had really let her down in a lot of aspects. I only wish she had had more honest friends when she so obviously needed them.
Janis will always be my favorite person as an artist she always kept it chill and real, its a shame so many artists have been dying of drugs, alcohol and suicide because they are so hyper sensitive to feelings you can tell by hearing them because they sing with true convictions and they don't focus on what people expect them to be, or perfectly toned, you can literally hear and feel the emotions in all the flaws just make them unbeatable because that's what made them incredible.
That line: "We may not be here tomorrow..." I had to replay that to make sure I heard her right. Presently, I am 27, and to know that she didn't make it past that age is a mind scramble. Of course, people die every day of all age groups - no one is exempt. But the very thought "get it while you can" is so real and ironic given this short amount of time she had left. It's good advice for us all, really. To live. We've only got one life, and although some of us will be here longer than others, the changes we make and the grounds we break are what counts. RIP Janis.
Janis struggled with H and Southern Comfort. Several of her contemporaries fell victim to drugs as well...Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison come to mind. Somehow Keith Richards survived.
Still brings me to tears. This, "Down on Me" and "Ball and Chain" from anything live ( especially Monterey) kill me. Janis knew man. Janice fucking KNEW......
Being able to watch this great talent some 40 years after her untimely death just makes me happy that CZcams has done such a great job letting the World to still be able to see and watch Janis perform, it also makes me somewhat sad remembering how young she was when she OD'ed. We will never know how much more she could have brought to the world of music. I was lucky enough to see Janis in Concert in Jan.'70, it's a concert I'll never forget. The emotion and power she brought to her performance's is still remarkable even today.
+Milton Williams Absolutely am so grateful to CZcams for bringing past performances back to us, and thankful to the people who take the time to upload the videos. Especially nice to hear those whose voices were unique and singular, and gone too soon. You sir were very lucky to witness true talent. :>)

The emotional intensity of this song and Janet's singing is off the charts. She sure puts her heart and soul into every word she sings like it's the last song she will every sing. Electrifying.
She sounded like she was on an acid trip her voice was awful I'm sure she had talented her own way I didn't really see it but I'm sure she did I really am sure she did but her voice was awful I'm sorry and I'm very sorry she passed away but her voice sounded like awful
My best friend asked me not long ago about whether to pursue some new girl he was in love with. ??I said "Get it while you can." Only later did I think about where that came from..Good old Janis. There is no better.

Saw Hendrix, Morrison, and so many more at the Filmore in SF...no one could hold a candle to Janis when it came to generating raw excitement on stage. She was a veritable hurricane!
I continue to be awestruck by her performances. She puts her heart and soul in right until the end. And then, when its over, she looks so vulnerable. She really sometimes didn't know what she had, did she?
Janis is so amazing. I first heard her on the car radio while waiting for my dad to come out of a shop. I was so sad when he told me she was dead. :( I was only 9 at the time, but have loved her since that day when I first discovered her. Talent like hers will never die as successive generations hear her sing.
My mom had a record of her, I remember she would play it for me in the car since as long as I can remember. Just recently I learned more about her and started personally learning about her and she was truly an amazing, beautiful soul.
Hands down this is my favorite song ever. All of my problems are solved about relationships or anything. I'm healed cause we got to get this shit why we can.amen

Question: Why don’t we have anyone today, in 2020, who can sing with the same emotional DEPTH and INTENSITY that Janis did back in the late 60’s? She was electrifying! Janis died 50 years ago (just think!), and NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, female OR male, has come along since Janis who can belt out a song the same way she did!

feb 1969? i started going to shows there in may 69? grateful dead as opening act.
She was completely real and fabulous
I sometime wish I was born 20 or 30 years earlier so I would have experienced those times and that music.
No auto tune, no back track, no back up dancers...just pure raw emotion. I loved this woman back then and I still do today.

Her expression at the end, and during the performance. You know she's singing from the heart. x love
Good... I love janis...
Aweegin, I completely agree with you. No play back for Janis, only Heart !!
It's kinda about her life, she never found true love

This is my favourite performance of Janis Joplin, and of this song. She is going balls out on this one!!

A great performance but for her best balls out rendition see her singing 'Ball and Chain' at Monterey.
