- Finally got a chance to get out with Taku aka Outdoor Chef Life. We had three targets: Steamer Clams, Washington Clams and Horseneck Clams. Surprisingly we were successful in finding a good amount of each species! Originally I wanted to make clam tacos but decided that since Taku is an actual chef it would be better for him to demonstrate how he prepares the clams.

Just a little tip, If you are going to dig in sea weed thats fine but if it's sea grass please take a big piece of sodd to get to the clams then put the sodd back that way you found it grass side up.
Sea weed grows like a weed but types of seas grass are very easily disturbed and destroyed with minimal interaction. People can destroy whole beds not even knowing they have done any damage at all.
Those look like eel grass which are extremely sensitive and important habitat for invertebrates and small fish, vital for the whole marine food chain. Hope they put them back as mentioned above to keep them alive. I did a thesis on eel grass estuary ecosystems so I know a couple of things about them.

Hi from the Hood Canal, clam central, limit of steamers takes about 30 minutes here. We use a pickle fork, it is a 3 tined cultivator rake. You can either use a long or short handled one. Excellent video, keep'em coming.

I remember i went clamming on the east coast. (New Jersey) And i had a bluetooth speaker on my kayak. I moved the kayak and all the clams were near the bluetooth speaker. They were drawn up by the vibrations. I thought it was so cool.

When you said "Taku's girlfriend, Jocelyn," I suddenly realized who was who. 2014; I used to go nightclubbing with this girl, Jocelyn, and two of her friends, who are sisters. The three of them kind of looked and dressed alike at the clubs, and, when I first met them, I used to mix up their names on accident. But my polite confusion amused them and we became friends. One day, Jocelyn just stopped coming out with us, and started seeing a guy named "Taku Kondo". We never met him, but we always figured Jocelyn was happy and left it at that. Fast forward 2019; I get to the end of this video; yep, that is definitely the girl I used to go clubbing with!
Been following your channel for years now, and am a Bay Area resident. I'll admit I've been quietly cheering for the butter all these years. I have never ever commented on a CZcams video before, but, this one was just too close to home to not say something.
Have you heard of Warrior Poet Sportfishing(not a CZcams channel)? He gives fishing tours around the bay, and I've known the owner for nearly 10 years now(possibly before he even started Warrior Poet as a company). Sorry, that wasn't meant to be a plug, but, I'm not a fisher myself. I used to stay in the Sunset, 2016-2017, and noticed some of your videos featured waaay too familiar scenes of Ocean Beach XD
Anyways, love the content, my favorites are the catch and cooks. I'm not a fisher, but, I love experimenting with DIY cooking, food preparation/preservation, and trying or learning how to make all manner of bizarre foods, so, love watching you cook your catches on the spots. Name's Will.

Here's a tip,living on the east coast of Canada we clam a lot,even snorkel for them,but a good tip is use an old car antenna with the small ball at the top, stick it in the hole and when the clam clamps down on it just haul him out,also put it in water to spit out the sand

they're pretty much everywhere, clams and other shell dwelling critter filter the surrounding water for food and usually build up high levels of whatever is present in those waters, sadly happens that we are very good at polluting those waters or creating good conditions for some microorganisms that secrete toxins.

if you guys have eaten any meat, you've most definitely have consumed worms. Inform yourself, properly handled meat, even with worms, will yield virtually no harm to you. Whether that is with heat or freezing.
