    Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on CZcams, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on CZcams. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on CZcams, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
    If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

    Yes, The Moody Blues always sprinkled a little magic dust on each of their recordings before releasing them to the world.

    Yes, Shawn,all of the albums, 2-7, are recorded gapless, with each song crossfaded with the next. Their albums are all at least semi-concept albums.
    2. Days of Future Passed (1967)is about the passage of a single day,
    3. In Search of the Lost Chord (1968) is themed on finding oneself through music,.
    4. On the THreshold of a Dream (1969) is about realizing we are all basically the same
    5. To Our Children's Children''s Children (1969) is about space exploration and was intended to be released to coincide with Nasa's Moon mission, but missed it by a couple of months.
    6. A Question of Balance (1970) is about saving the planet
    7. Seventh Sojourn (1971). Never did figure this one out. All of these themes are only loosely followed...and are my guesses only.

      Yes, and they need to be reacted to in the proper format: Full album. Trust me Shawn, you will not regret it. Start with "Days of Future Passed", and move through the seven sojourns (at least), and learn as you go...

    Every song on this LP is great. The Moody Blues especially was asking and trying to figure out the answers to the questions that our generation was facing. Assassination of JFK & RFK, Martin Luther King, Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Woman's Rights (Row vs. Wade, birth control), drugs. We had a lot going in the world to deal with. Younger generations will always want to know the answers to these questions. Our generation put it in song to some of the greatest bands and music that will come back again and again because it's so good to listen and reflect upon. It was a pure "JOY" to grow up with all this fantastic music! 🎶 ❤

      The Moody Blues asked the questions but admitted that they didn’t have the answers. Grahame Edge said that they were just as much in the dark as everyone else. When some fans were disillusioned that they were not tge philosophical gurus that the fans wanted them to be John Lodge responded with the song I’m Just A Singer In A Rock and Roll Band

    The Moody Blues always take you on a philosophical trip. Atmospheric music and thought-provoking lyrics. They were one of a kind, but very listenable! Try Watching and Waiting, from To Our Children's Children's Children, or Voices in the Sky from In Search of the Lost Chord. These are very quiet songs that make you think. But they have plenty of rockers, too, like Departure/Ride My See-Saw, from In Search of the Lost Chord again.

    What a great reaction and what a great song, composer and band. It sadly cut off before the full ending, which is perhaps most important. What happens at the real end of the song, is that his voice gets more desperate, but also less audible, and the voices of the crowd drown him out. A profound ending to a profound song. Find it and give a listen. You will be rewarded. It was my broody artist song in high school when it was current. Title cut "Question" is Justin's great gift on the album.
    The whole album like the mighty 7, is a treasure chest. All their albums end with a longer, more proggy or atmospheric song by the older wizard of the band, Mike Pinder, the Merlin who casts spells...as referenced in "Are You Sitting Comfortably?". The Moodies were basically a more mature Beatles, and like Yes was a high vibration from and for the higher chakras.

  • @raymondregis6219
    @raymondregis6219 Před 6 měsíci +6

    It's great how all 5 band members wrote their songs. Mike Pinder - keyboards, vocals, guitars - wrote and sang this one. All songs on their 'classic 7' albums were cross-faded. The highest voice is bassist John Lodge.

    • @pjg58x
      @pjg58x Před 5 měsíci

      Yes that’s the great thing about the “Core 7”. All 5 members contributed equally. With a lot of bands and albums there are one.or two main members and the others are interchangeable. With these 7 albums all 5 members were crucial.

    LOVED your reaction!!!! Well, the Moody Blues are my favorite band. I have all their albums, I’ve seen them perform live several times. My jaw dropped when I saw the alert for Melancholy Man! You da man! Trust me, you are in for an awesome adventure as you react to more of their songs. The songs do go from one to the next. But they are SO good! John Lodge is the one who sings the falsetto. He was an amazing bass player as well as singer. They are ALL super talented and their music sometimes leaves you without words….it’s that good. Thank you for doing the Moody’s! 😀

    Great reaction!! I believe you were listening to the version from their compilation album "This Is The Moody Blues" as the mix is different from the album version on A Question of Balance. The mellotron is more muted in this version (which is unfortunate).
    This song has LONG been my favourite on this album - Mike Pinder (keyboards & vocals) absolutely owns this song, through & through. It's so haunting.
    The whole album is wonderful - as is with the 'Core 7' of the Moodies albums. They are ALL sonic adventures!
    There is a wonderful live version of this song on the Live At The Isles of Wight release. One of the only 'officially' released album to feature Melancholy Man live! Cheers.

      Ok, the first 7 Moody Blues albums are all superb! They are album group by which I mean, listen to each album all the way through. I realize that is not practical for a reaction channel but for your own joy, do it when you think you have done enough individual songs to be interested in hearing the music as it was intended to be heard. They are amazing!

    I recommend that you make a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world.
    What is that sound? This sound is beyond our ordinary world, beyond the music we are accustomed to. Generally beyond the music that we expect to hear in films. According to the director of this film, Denis Villeneuve, Hans Zimmer worked on this music for several months - a very long time for such a project. He searched for and created these unusual sounds, trying to go beyond the boundaries of what he could do and was used to doing. As we understand it, he succeeded. We heard music here that is not only extraterrestrial, but also timeless. Something similar could probably have sounded ten thousand years ago. Or maybe this is what our future will sound like. There are very few artists capable of producing such sounds. It's not just vocal capabilities and good technique - it's a completely different aesthetics, a different psychology, a different physiology. The artist must not only accurately hit the notes of this strange score - he must, first of all, be convincing. He should sound as if these sounds are not exotic to him at all - but a natural part of his nature. It should sound organic, it should sound beautiful at the same time - and dangerous, alarming, warning. In this case, that's exactly what it sounds like. Whether you like this sound or not, no one doubts that this sound is the most real. That this is not a sophisticated computer design - but a living timbre, living emotions, living energy of the human voice. Voices of the strange, unusual, unexpected. A voice that reminds us at the same time of the sounds of wild nature; and about the sounds of the beautiful singing voices of the past; and about the sounds of some other world, some universe unknown to us - sounds the existence of which we can only guess. All these amazing sounds are contained in the artist we see on this stage - Diana Ankudinova.
    We look forward to your reaction to this fantastic performance.

I thought I'd suggest another song by an artist, I believe you've reacted to before and seemed to enjoy her tunes, however, she's singing with the legendary Tony Bennett. He is a crooner from the 50's &60's. Another artist with fantastic hits. So, if interested. "Tony Bennett, Amy Winehouse - Body & Soul (From Duets II: The Great Performance)" (It's so enjoyable to watch these two artists from two different generations sing together, beautiful stuff, bro.)

    If you end up doing a whole album I would strongly suggest Rush 2112. I can't remember if you've done it or not. And also, the first Boston album and the first Van Halen album are considered to be some of the greatest debut albums in rock history. And then of course there's the entire Fleetwood Mac Rumors album which is just one of those perfect albums.
