Goodness didn’t Peter Alliss talk brilliantly. Get lost in his words and could listen to the man all day. So sad that he has gone, thankfully we can still enjoy him.
St Andrews was obviously not created or designed to accommodate the masses of golf fans that are common nowadays. It’s definitely a place to visit purely from a historical aspect, and the magical atmosphere of the Old Course surroundings, as well as the “Auld Grey Toon”. I was fortunate enough to meet Peter Alliss outside the clubhouse at the 2000 Millennium Open Championship, have a very brief chat and get his prized autograph! Peter was definitely THE voice of golf, he was an amazing storyteller, a fantastic commentator and had a comprehensive knowledge of the game, a true legend of golf. He will be sorely missed, RIP.
So much better than American commentators. The Americans tend to babble on almost incoherently, putting words together that don't belong in the same sentence. Alliss is silky smooth, like a good audio book.
Peter Alliss seemed to me to be a perfect successor to Henry Longhurst rather more irreverent and often so funny. R.I.P sir. I hope there is someone to step into your shoes but I rather doubt it.
We'll never hear his like again.
Brought LIFE to GOLF. 👏👏👏
Great, thanks for the memories Peter
RIP, a true legend of the sport.
For me Mr alliss is and will always be the voice of golf.
A true ledgend and a Gentleman.

One of the best commentators on any sport.
Peter and Alex Hay are catching up now....I'm glad we have these videos to remember him by.
14 double greens!! Got to love 'im. R.I.P
Have to agree, I used to be based at Leuchars and the old course is crap for spectators.
Only ever played the Eden course but hope to be back some day
It's all about the history.
I always thought him more a pipe smoker than a ciggys man. Nice Putt Allis.

Golf is just not the same without him.
