  • This week's project is quick scrap wood project: a rustic wooden trough. This is a great beginner project requiring minimal tools and simple materials. Plus, you can add to your home decor.
    When our friend, Nicole Northgarden, came to do some crafting with my wife and kids, the topic somehow landed on wooden troughs. My wife volunteered my services to quickly build one for Nicole. Sometimes it's fun to build quick projects that are intended to be a little rough, for some rustic charm.
    For this project, I used a 1x6 and a 1x8, cut them with my table saw and crosscut sled (though a miter saw would work just as well), and nailed it together with my Ryobi cordless 16 gauge nail gun and 1 1/2 inch brad nails.

    So.....you did almost lose a finger I see! Haha! Good job my friend! Quick and easy does it some times.

      @WhiteLabWorkshop  Před 4 lety +1

      Nonsense! My fingers were clear at all times. Just seeing the nail poke out the side so fast reminded me that it’s always good to keep them clear when to pull the trigger! I’ve still got all my fingers and I can count just fine with them!

      Thank you! I think it will be a slow process for the basement shop. We still don’t have a real plan yet. Just ideas. I’ll definitely share as I fumble my way through it!

      @@WhiteLabWorkshop well like you said. The winters last 11 months where you live. Plenty of time 😜

    That is a nice Trough,plenty of room for lots of plants or herbs if that is what it was made for,or maybe for holding feed . Either way it looks nice.

      This one is more of an indoor, decorative trough. It’s good for a centerpiece on a kitchen table, for instance. Thanks for checking it out, Rita!

    Yesssss! I love my trough! I’ve settled on a gray stain. But now to actually get it done 😂😂😂

    The cold winters are something I will be dealing with soon too. Sadly my basement is fully finished, so no using it as a workshop. Just get ready to see my breathe in the coming months of videos! Very simple design, well done!

      Thanks! Having an unfinished basement does have its perks sometimes! It also helps that it’s a walkout too.

      Thank you! I was considering making things more interesting with some different joinery, but decided that would take away from the intended simplicity.

    Looking forward to seeing how you develop in the basement space! Battling against the cold is not fun. It doesn’t get as cold here but it’s still cold enough in my shop coming into the next couple of months. Sucks. We all need a warm shop!! 😁
    Ps. Glad your finger was away from the nail! Ouch! Great job ✌🏻😁

      I’m pretty excited for the basement shop too. It’s already getting chilly enough around here that I’m happy to have moved. Now I just need to plan it out and make it happen!

    Hi there it's really great to meet you and cheers from Montreal Canada. This was a fantastic walkthrough of a simple project and even though I know when we're in a niche we want to take it to the extreme this is a great way to bring new people into what you Do. We sometimes forget just how much we not only interact with our peers on here but how are channels can introduce people to a whole new interesting never thought they had and this project was perfect. Great job and a great presentation as well and really enjoyed the watch and looking forward to the future for more. great to connect with you and hope you have a fantastic weekend
    We are a husband and wife team who do video/photography by day here in Montreal and live streams at night featuring gameshow style shout outs (The wheel of shoutouts & New game called the Pusa Push for under 1k channels), Q&As on channel building and growth as well as interviews with Celebrities (two Emmy-award winnings guests and largest channel is 3.5 million followers) and big topics regarding the CZcams platform. I've had a stray nail into my finger, tell me about it....lol

  • @lettycardenas4091
    @lettycardenas4091 Před 4 lety

    How do u correct stray nails? I usually pull up the board, take out the nail completely and redo it. Is there a quicker way ?

    • @WhiteLabWorkshop
      @WhiteLabWorkshop  Před 4 lety

      There really isn’t a right way to do it. Whether there’s a faster way really depends on how far into the nailing you are and whether you’re able to pull the nail out without pulling the whole board. So I guess I’d say you’re going the be the best judge at the time, but there isn’t some magic bullet that you aren’t aware of. In the case of this shelf, I left it as-is because Nicole likes the extra “roughness” the stray nail gives the piece. Thanks for checking it out!
